How old should a Pomeranian be to be trained in a "spor
pomeranians replied to pomeranians's topic in Sport & work
Yes, Conner DEFINETLY doesn't know the meaning of enough play!!! He has the best time outside, he'll dash from one side to the other, trying to get my bigger dogs to play. I try to prevent him from jumping too much, but he dances, and stands on his hind legs pretty much all of the time to either try and get something, or climb over the gates we have set up for him. Like I said, the only thing I've ever had him do is jump through a hoop on occasion, so I think he'll be fine. I'm more concerned about his natural dancing and jumping. -
Uh, well. Like pretty much everyone else has said, "i'm only 15" is NO excuse for letting your dog run offlead. I'm not even fifteen, and the second my Pomeranian's paws hit the driveway, his leash goes on. By fifteen everyone should know how to walk a dog. Wining about how you don't deserve to own dogs is just stupid. If you think your so unworthy of owning dogs, why do you own them? I find your "story" truly ridiculous, and I agree with abker, you definetly give teenagers a bad sereotype.

Thank you Kat. I've been having my pom jump through a hoop every few days, but I haven't been doing any regimented training yet. It will work out well though. In the summer he will be a year, and then I'll start training. Once again, thanks. -
I want to train my pom in agility, and flyball (not a serious thing, just for fun around the yard). But I've read it can ruien their joints if you start training to young. My pommy is currently six months old. Is this an apporpriate age to start training?

Can kids sign that???? Because I definetly would, but not if I could get in trouble for being to "little". If anyone knows, please tell me, because I really want to sign. Puppy mills make me sick.... :x

Bringing home a new puppy.....( or dog)
pomeranians replied to Queen Bitch's topic in Everything about dogs
I haven't read through everyone elses posts, so I hope no one already mentioned this, but here we go anyway. Thats a very nice list hillside. I don't think you left much, if anything out. I would have had a much better shopping list if I would have read that when I got my puppy a few months ago  But...you said one thing that shouldn't be on the "pre-puppy" shopping list, at least not all of the time. ( Doesn't make much sense, but stay with me). You said a metal collar, and, thats definetly NOT what you want to get, only if the situation is that you've purchased a "fuzzy" breed. Collars can totally destroy a fuzzy dogs coat, so I think you should have mentioned that some where on that list. Yes, its not that big of a deal, and with only a little bit of research, you can pretty easily figure out that fluffy dogs shouldn't wear collars, rather a sliplead, but some people don't do that much research (even though they should), so I just thought it would have been a bit better if something about the collar differences had have been mentioned. But, an all around grat list anyway hillside, that should help some new puppy owners. :D -
I was actually thinking about that gig. I was going to track her pc to where she lived, and send along what she had said to me to the Humane Society. I still know how to contact her, but shes kind of a, uh, freak, so I really don't want to talk to her. I just hope that little dogs OK. How ANYONE could EVER do that!!!!

Well, now that you descibe the coloring, its not as bad as I imagined it. The peircing part though, I'm SURE a dog wouldn't put up with that. It was supossedly a Pomeranian though, (I'm still not for sure that this ever happened), so sadly, theres not much a dog of that size could do.
-
No, she didn't mention the color. But yeah, I sat up for a long time thinking about that. I hope she was lying as well, but her whole page, (this person was over Neopets), was dedicated to "goth", and she looks as if she very well could have peirced her dog, (she included pictures). I very much hope she was lying, but she sounded awful truthful. Who knows...

I hope this is the right board for this... Anyway, last night I was talking to a rather unusal girl. She worshipped the devil,(I didn't find this out until the very end of our conversation. I wouldn't have stuck around if I would of known that from the beginning), but owned a dog. To be more specific, a Pomeranian. I thought that was nice, as I own one as well. But, just a couple minutes after talking about her dog, she mentioned she had dyed its hair. I was shocked, and I was screaming at the top of my lungs to my mother, saying, "That is ridiculous! You should NEVER dye a dogs hair!!!!!". Something like that. Anyway, further on, she mentioned peircing her dogs nose. Yes, peircing her dogs nose. She said it hurt her (which almost draws tears to my eyes, thinking about that little dog, being held down, yelping, just to have a ring through its nose). But then, she said "she liked to play with it.. so its all cool". I'm sure the dog was just in a deperate attempt to get "it" off her face. I think this has got to be one of the worst situations I've heard of other than the stuff you see on Animal Cops. She may have been lying, but many cluse pointed to that she was telling the truth. Maybe its just me, but I found that she could have done those things VERY disturbing...

I don't want to buy one of their dogs or anything, my dog just has some Del rey in his background, and I wanted to see some pics of his ancestors. -

Ok, I'll try that. -
I'm looking for a pom breeder site. The kennel is called Del rey I believe. I haven't been able to find their site, and really don't even know if they have one. Does anyone know how to get to their site (if there is one)?

I'm 10, would a pomeranian make a good pet for me?
pomeranians replied to pomeranians's topic in Group 5
Well I think he is, I'm just not 100% sure. -

No, no, no, no, no... the uglies is when a pom puppy loses all its undercoat, and its adult coat starts to come in. They get all out of proportion (growth spurt), and look kind of, well, ugly. I really don't think poms in the uglies are really "ugly", but, thats just the term. -

I don't know if you guys could tell or not, but do you think Conner is in the "uglies"? -

Thats terrible. A pet store is like the worse place you can buy a dog. -

PUP, that makes me feel better, thanks. I really don't care about his pedigree, or conformation,(I can't show him anyway, hes getting neutered), I just want him to be healthy. I love him, and will love him, too. I know he can't help who bred him, or why, or when, or to who... I don't hold that against HIM, rather the breeder. Once again, thanks, that takes some worry off my mind. :fadein: -

I do have a question though. I was reading a site on what makes a responsilble breeder a couple of days ago, and, I found the site extremly informative. Although... very confuzing as well. One post also listed the actions of a bad breeder, and reading down the list, my Conners breeder matched maybe two, three or four of those things. But then, on the responsible breeder catagory, she matched about 6+. How can she be both? If anyone can answer this, thank you. -
