I just recently started volunteering for the SPDR, Seattle Pure Dog Rescue. I did my first transport last Sunday. I just keep checking the e-mail list to see if I could help with Booths, fundraisers, transport and whatever else pops up there. I would love to foster but we are away from home for too long during the day. I do work during the day but offer my services on the weekends and yes there is a huge need for volunteers. Good luck.

This is what I got them so for. The stocking is for Cody as this is her first Christmas.

We have them real bad this year. My vet says it's the worst season she's seen in a while. I use frontline plus, treated the carpets, furniture and beds and it just doesn't seem to be helping. I feel so bad for my furbabies.

I to am a member of the BC boards, but they bore me. My BC just doesn't live up to the standards and according to some over there, she is fat. She was a little overweight but I managed to get about 10lbs off of her.

No tests whatsoever. I hardly ever see her drink water atleast not any more than the big dogs. -

Thanks Sarah will do. I really like the Nutro brands and so do the dogs. Which one do you think I should switch Cody to? -
feeding question... please advise....
leahluvsherpups replied to Taurus and Jada's topic in Nutrition
I followed the instructions for my dogs and they blew up like balloons. So I cut them back atleast half of the required amount and now they are finally loosing weight. As everyone else said it depends on the breed and activity level of the dog. -

Thanks Carol, I have the big dogs on lite because they were grossly overweight. Niki has lost 8 pounds and Bozy has lost 11. Cody is about 18" and weighs 45lbs and I am only giving her a cup twice a day. I just think she's overweight and I have read that puppy food accelerates growth and she doesn't need any more acceleration. -

She is eating Nutro but it's the Max Puppy and as soon as it is gone she's going to eat what my other dogs are eating which is Nutro Light. As for testing, my vet didn't seem to think it is necessary at this time. I started her meds last night so paws crossed. If there was a problem with her kidneys or bladder, would I see any symptoms in her? When she is outside she doesn't go potty alot usually 2 to 3 times in a 3 hour period. -

leahluvsherpups replied to leahluvsherpups's topic in Everything about dogs
Yes her water is restricted. She has only lost control 3 times in the last couple of months and is just in her crate for about 6 hours at night with a potty break around midnight. Last night when she lost control it woke her up and she freaked out by jumping up on the bed. I don't know how she busted out of the crate but she did. I know she's doing it in her sleep because the first time she did it she was sleeping next to me when I felt it and she was sound asleep. Oh yea, and the dogs are outside all the way up to bedtime. -

She was spayed 2 and a half months ago. My vet did say it was a temporary thing. I'm hoping that that is all it is as I cant imagine it being more serious. -
My pup Cody is 7 months old and has been losing control of her bladder in her sleep. She did it again last night so I called the vet. She said it was hapenning as a result of her spay and hormones. So I will pick up the meds tonight. Has anyone had any success with the drug? I just can't wait for when she's not having accidents all over the place. That Natures Miracle is getting expesive.

I understand that it is a long way for you to go, but maybe someday you could check it out. It is a beautiful place and alot of fun. I did read a while ago that they are putting in an off leash park in Lakewood, I think, somewhere closer to us anyway. It's not going to be very big but at least it is closer.
-
I have been to that dog park but we didn't like it. The one in Redmond at Merrymoore park is three times bigger and has a river that the dogs can play in. We travel over 50 miles to take the dogs there but it is well worth the drive.

Hazel, I don't work my Aussies yet. I'm still doing a little agility with Bozy and Niki. Cody is still young so she needs to take it easy. Niki was probably purchased from a breeder by the guy that dumped her. His excuse was that he was ill and homeless and couldn't keep her any more. Poor girl, she was so afraid. But now she's my little devil in alot of fluff.

We adopted our BC from the Humane Society when she was 2, now 4, and I think she was bred from Barbie Collies (show dogs). She does not have the drive to herd and I've only seen the eye once when she saw horses. She's real laid back and just loves to play with the other dogs and chew on her bones. Oh well, at least I have Aussies that will work if I wanted them to.

This is Niki female Border Collie 4 years old. We adopted her from the Humane Society 2 years ago. We adopted him from the ARPH 2 years ago. We rescued him from a group of ferals that live at our work. He was 4 weeks old when we captured him and very sick. As a matter of fact a rescue group came a few days late to TNR the adult cats and kittens but his siblings and cousins died from distemper. We got lucky with this one. She just showed up one day and never left. I adopter her 7 years ago.

Thought I'd share some photos.

I got it K. I think my rubber chicken is beyond saving. Cody takes it and hides it from the other dogs until she's ready to play with it again. Thanks everyone for the compliments. I have about a thousand photos of my furbabies so be prepared. :fadein: -

"Jetta, you have been a very bad puppy"...lol

So hard to tell when they're puppies. I swear the BC, Aussie, and Sheltie pups look an awful lot alike when they're babies. -

Is jetta a Border Collie? I only have one but I want more. She's awful cute. -
Why can't I use human toothpast on my dog? There are many wonderful brands and types of toothpaste for humans. Why can't we use them on dogs? Because dogs do not spit, and human toothpaste is not edible. Your dog will most definately swallow whatever you use to clean his teeth. You can purchase an edible toothpaste, just for dogs, at any pet store. There are many flavors available. Try to find one that your dog likes; your dog will be more likely to let you brush his teeth. A nice beefy brushing will be a tasty treat for your dog.
