I can't see the picture. It says "oops! you must visit care2.com photo albums to view this image" And anyway who cares if she posts a picture of a cat. Who died and made you king of Dogo.

I can't believe how easy it is having 3 dogs!
leahluvsherpups replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
I wasn't sure how I would spread the love either and not being a human mom how could I know. Anyway, I have four now and it is easy to spread the love. :D -

Leaving a dog home alone -- need advice
leahluvsherpups replied to Kerislc's topic in Everything about dogs
All four of my dogs spend the day, about 14 hours, in the kennel run. It is covered with a dog house for each. They have plenty of water and toys. I always feel guilty about it but when we get home they let us know how happy they are to see us. -
Both of my male and female dogs do that but only to eachother. In their case it is a dominance issue. It may very well be that.

I have a few crating questions
leahluvsherpups replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
That sight is all too familiar, Bozy does the same thing. The horse mat is a good idea as we are thinking of doing it for the dog houses. -
The Aussie probably barked someone to death.
-
Since Kat already touched on the Border Collie I wont. but I agree with what she said. As for the Australian Shepherd among other misconceptions listed, they are NOT good with kids. They are almost identical to the Border Collie in every aspect except for maybe the itelligence level.;) If you must know I have two of each breed so I guess you could consider me an expert.
-
I have two Aussies and two Border Collies that hapilly reside with 6 cats.
-
I have a Border Collie that shows almost no interest in toys or anything else that a typical BC should like. Factory reject I guess but I love her all the same.

He has a Dog house, why not use it???
leahluvsherpups replied to Sharpeigirl's topic in Everything about dogs
My dogs sleep on the bed with me at night. But they do use their houses during the day. Its so cute seeing them pop out of the houses when we get home. -
Niki-doo Cody-oh Buddy-bear Bozy-boy
-
Bozy has a deep AAARRROOOO. Niki just barks and whines through her nose. Cody yaps and whines. Buddy hasn't said a thing yet.
-
Unfortunately the most accurate way is through the anus. I've had to do it and the dogs don't seem to mind.

Our new family member, Buddy.
leahluvsherpups replied to leahluvsherpups's topic in Everything about dogs
His personality is perfect. He is the sweetest dog I have ever met. He just loves being petted and just looks at you with those big brown eyes and you can just see the love in them. My first two adoptees were hell compared to Buddy. He needs some major training but he is eager to learn. I've already got him to sit and down. He showes no fear or agression which really makes me wonder why someone would just give up on him. -
We changed his name from Cannon. In the parking lot at Petsmart an hour after picking him up. The kids hate it but oh well they are older teenagers and will be gone soon. Hubby backs me all the way, he's such a sweet man. Anyway, dog #1 Niki, adopted from the humane society. dog #2 Bozy, adopted from ARPH 3 months later. He and Niki met before the adoption took place. dog #3 Cody, brought home when she was a puppy. No problems the dogs love puppies. dog #4 Cannon, don't have him yet and have never met him. This one I'm nervous about but my other three love other dogs so wish me luck. Friends-Family they all think I'm nuts but it has been my dream to have a bunch of furkids and hey, we can afford it. Good luck to you on getting that sweel doggie.

Thanks guys. He maybe mixed with Australian Shepherd. He weighs 50lbs so I will try to get some weight off of him. I have no idea how tall he is as the pic is rather deceiving. I just got an email from one of the shelter workers and he will be neutered on Friday. She gave me his Micro-chip # so reality is really starting to sink in now.
-
This guy was slated to be put down next week. He's in a Spokane shelter though so the nice people over there are arranging to get him out and transport him to me. I'm extremely excited and nervous as I have never adopted a dog that I have never met. Meet Cannon

What kind of waggers are your dogs?
leahluvsherpups replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
Cody, my Aussie is a wiggle butt. Her tail is about 3" long but she has that Aussie hair on it so it's more like a bunny rabbit tail. Niki, my BC is a side to side and Bozy my Aussie with a tail is all over the place. When he play runs it goes round and round like a helicopter. -
That is horrible. What kind of snakes do you have down there that would have killed so quickly. I'm so sorry you have to go throught such a terrible time.

Boonie and Dal need our prayers and thoughts
leahluvsherpups replied to tx2478's topic in Everything about dogs
Sending good wishes to you DAL. I'm sorry you have to go through this. {{{{{{Boonie}}}}}} -
OH, thanks. I guess that explains why it wouldn't accept my post when I had c@t in it. I do think it's strange though.
-
What is up with the c@t thing?

How big is the crate? As a rule the crate should only be big enough for the dog to stand up and turn around. Also be sure to take your pup out to the same spot every couple of hours to go potty then when he goes, give tons of praise. 9 hours without going potty is a very long time for a puppy. When Cody was younger I would have to let her out at least every two to four hours during the night. I lost alot of sleep but that's the joys of raising puppies. Personally I won't do it again. Good luck.
