1. Here's mine...or Banzai and Shenanigans site. http://www.angelfire.com/on3/cardercrest/
2. I think your dog will be traumatised, look at that little one hogging the blanket! I'm reporting you! lol
3. ACTIVE dogs? Ickky who want's that??? (says the woman who has fostered many a teenaged GSD! lol) Actually, I got my Newfoundland expecting him to be laid back, however he usually exhausts the local terriers, Vizzies and GSD teens who come through here. So with my luck I would get the one Bulldog in the area (pretty much all show breeders) who would be a live wire. Lazy girls can't win.
4. Running? what's that??? Oh, is that the thing you do when you have to chase a Newfoundland running around your crowded back yard with some of your more colourful panties in his mouth? If so, I'm faintly familiar with it. *G* It'd probably take me a few weeks. lol
5. I do, and it was definitely worth the wait, it's a priceless picture, enough to get my sentimental (however grouchy!) eyes a little wet. :)
6. Here's an interesting question. What is the rarest single breed you've ever encountered. Obviously it's going to differ area to area, for example, I've met hundreds of Tollers where they may be non-existant in other parts of the world, so if you give your location (if not mentioned in your avatar spot) that would be neat too. For myself it would be a Boykin Spaniel named Camilla or a Berger de Picard (he was named Jean-Luc to boot lol) I'm in Toronto and met both in Toronto.
7. I really really like a well bred GSD. However those are becoming very hard to find. One that is not overdone, nice topline, healthy and an excellent temperament...there's not many breeds out there for me that can top such a dog. I love Newfoundlands, they are just adorable, and once in a while mine can look dignified. However he is the sweetest thing with the happiest personality. I never have to worry about him ever being grouchy or nasty to people, it actually gives me a great deal of comfort to have such a sound dog. Dogs I'd like to have: Clumber Spaniel-Reminds me of small Newfoundlands Cavalier King Charles Spaniel-Sweet little pretty dogs Great Dane-Gotta love REALLY big elegant dogs Irish Wolfhound-The only thing stopping me from getting a Wolfhound is their lifespan. Borzoi-I want two and I'm going to call them Bianca and Bernard. *G* Bulldog-Sweet Temperament...oooo so cute, love their activity levels too. Boston Terrier-Much for the same reason as Bulldog, perhaps a little more peppier. ;) Afghan Hound-Admittedly, just for superficial reasons so I probably wouldn't get one. Mastiff-BIG DAWG, Sweet temperament, reminds me of Newfs except BIGGER!
8. I can't see K's picture. I even tried copy and pasting, but they want me to join the MSN group to see it. :( I wish I could get Shenanigans to go down a slide...quite frankly he's too big, he'll get stuck. LOL Those are some great pictures! Oh! Should I say BAD pictures, BAD Sarah! Showing that Staffies are friendly happy dogs, SHAME on you, go to your corner! ;)
9. I get red x's too, no fair! :bigcry:
10. I love Staffies, they are truly my favourite of the Terrier group. Their temperament outside of all that energy (blech! I'm lazy now lol) is tops, I love to see them interact with kids. I love your pictures, they're adorable.

RAW diet?

Yow! Sorry to hear about the cost. Our vet appointments usually cost $60.00 average, but I guess it's different than consultation. And usually among other things we talk about the dog's food as a matter of course. Anyhow, I hope your visit is helpful...it better be for 90 bones! lol

RAW diet?

I'm on the other side of the world it seems. *sigh!* In the wilds of Scarberia. ;) I'm at 401/McCowan.
13. strange you bring this up now. Shenanigans was so excited this morning when we got up, he grabbed his froggy and not only ran around the house prey shaking the heck out of it, but he insisted on taking it outside for his pee and poop, he didn't drop it once. And then when the local neighbourhood twins came to say hello, he went apepoopy shaking it like crazy. lol
14. Shame on you Primrose for lying so blatently. I'm sure the only reason why you are going on your mini vacation is to avoid the accountability of being caught in this lie. Thankfully many many pit bull owners do not carry your version of responsibility, because it seems you only don it when it conveniences you.

RAW diet?

Hi there I do mean the East York Animal Clinic, it's at St.Clair and O'Connor. I'll post the URL, if you go to their holistic centre services you'll see that they do work on basic nutrition. You might want to give them a call. I personally recommend Dr. Cindy Kneebone..Dr. Paul isn't as user friendly as Dr. Cindy. :) http://www.holisticpetvet.com

RAW diet?

Word to the wise, don't bother calling the Nutritionists at Guelph, they once sent me some information slamming any homemade diet, however their bias was clearly marked on the Hill's letterhead they were using. Did you try the East York Animal Clinic? Our vet there gives us suggestions on what to add to the dog's diet, I don't know what their stance is on cooked, but they might be able to provide some information.
17. Peeves for Banzai is that he gets in my way and doesn't move. I swear I must say MOOOOVE at least a dozen times a day, I sound like a freaking holstein! He also jumps in the bed the minute I get out of it in the morning, so if I have a pee break from sleeping, I have to again MOOOOVE him out of the way. Quirks for Banzai is his attitude, he's really much like a cat. He snubs people, he's not too keen on being cuddled and he moans and groans whenever he doesn't like something. He also holds mighty grudges. When Westminster was on during the hound section, I was busy cross-stitching and not paying much attention to the screen, anyhow, when the judge talked, Banzai got up, creeped up to the television, and gave a moan and a snort and walked away in a huff. I thought he didn't like a dog noise he heard. However when I took a look at the judge, I realised that it was Banzai's old vet and he was reacting to his voice. I wrote the vet letting him know what happened, it was truly funny. Peeves for Shenanigans, he's as dumb as a post sometimes. I grew up with BCs, Shelties, Collies...herding dogs, usually sharp as a tack. Shenanigans is about as sharp as a cob of corn. He also has this annoying habit, only in the back yard to not come when he's called. He knows he's going inside and thinks of it as a game and so he starts charging around expecting me to chase him. Funny things Shenanigans does...well he's as dumb as a post and it makes for some entertaining moments. He has fights with is feet, where he'll lay on his back and slowly raise his back feet towards his head. All the time barking and growling at them until a fight breaks out and when it's finished his feet lower...then repeat the cycle a dozen times. He likes to squish the cat which is funny because the cat will get on it's hind legs and give him a few bats to the head, to which he tears off and usually brings a toy back to the cat as an apology (the last thing the cat wants is a smelly stuffed animal shoved in it's face). Basically Shenanigans lives up to his name so there's seldom a quiet moment when he's awake.
18. Hear hear newfiemom. It's very hard to take anyone seriously who won't put their money where their mouth is. However it hasn't been forthcoming in the past several years, so I doubt anything will change.
19. If rawhide works for your dogs great. :) I tried it once upon a time, my dogs (then Shelties and BCs) had a nasty reaction to it, so I never tried it again.
20. What a pity that this poor little guy has had so much trauma already. However his young age does give me some hope that there might be a chance for a happy ending. I'm a newbie here, so I don't have all the history. I'm prone to suggest a more holistic approach myself. I take my animals to a holistic pet centre where the vets are certified in alternative therapies for pets. I think any such therapy does have to be used for a certain length of time, even a raw diet, sometimes results might take 4-6 months or even a year depending on how much toxins are in the dog's system and how quickly they are capable of disposing them. I can understand the paralysing fear of wanting to try new therapies, but worried it might cause a greater reaction. A suggestion I have is to develop a game plan. If you're going to chose alternative practices, talk to various vets, and work out how long you're willing to do so before going in. This of your goals, possible consequences, reactions, outbreaks, going off some medications, going on others etc etc. Likewise with conventional methods. At least then you can be better prepared emotionally for the possible strain or success you might have. Anyhow, just an early morning suggestion. I'm sorry your Devin is having such a rough time. :(
21. I've had a terrible time with dry food sticking to my GSD's teeth before we switched to raw. We were thinking about having his teeth scaled the year we switched, but after a few rounds of raw bone, we realised there was no need. My mothers Shelties are fed dry kibble and their teeth were in terrible condition, that is, until I was watching them for a couple of weeks and gave them some soup bones to chew on. ;)
22. In Canada there is a sexually altered class (SAC) but you rarely see them. Usually they're only at specialties or nationals. I think I'm going to go along the lines of allowing altered dogs, but with a different system. Different awards, no handlers etc. I think it could be a useful tool for breeders to see how their pet quality dogs are doing among other pet quality specimins. Admittedly, I can't say I have experience in tonnes of breeds, but I think if the breeders are producing pet quality dogs they are embarassed by, then they need to ask themselves why. I think it would be great for newbies who are interested in the sport, but aren't willing to take the plunge yet with a show quality dog, but wouldn't mind trying it out with their pet. It would probably boost memberships here in Canada (though, the CKC has just been hit by a nuke).
23.
hmmm how about my 2 fav breeds mixed together Sheltie x Bull terrier...LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Now that dog would have an interesting face! lol

RAW diet?

Thank you Majie's Mom. My GSD thinks he's the most beautiful creature in the world (he's not even mortal according to his attitude!) :) We see Dr. Cindy Kneebone of the East York Animal Clinic. They're at St. Clair and O'Connor. We're in Scarborough, so they're only about a 20 minute drive for us, but considerably longer for people having to come through the bulk of the city. Nevertheless Dr. Cindy is very knowledgable, thorough, and great with the animals and very friendly with the people. She has a good sense of humour, although she did make fun of Banzai's bum and he wasn't too pleased, but he's not paying the bills so too bad. lol http://www.holisticpetvet.com/

RAW diet?

I feed raw, in fact my dogs have been happily munching on some raw meaty bones we got from St. Lawrence Market for $1.00 a bag! :P I feed it simply because it's the best diet I can afford to give my dogs. Premium kibbles would cost me at least $120.00 a month to feed both of my guys, feeding raw costs me $60.00 a month if not less. We give everything raw...except for table scraps such as pizza bones. Outside of table scraps, we don't feed grains at all. We used to, but it didn't sit well with my Newfoundland's coat and recently cut them out. I've been feeding raw for 5 years this fall, and my dogs have never been better. Shenanigans has always been fed raw so I can't really comment on his before state, but Banzai was not always the healthiest dog. He has constant yeast, skin, eye and ear infections. He was also chronically 30lbs underweight no matter what kibble we fed him. About four months after feeding raw, all his conditions cleared up, he gained weight which he has maintained for 4 years and change. Both of my dogs are therapy dogs and are around people with lowered immune systems such as cancer patients, PWA's etc. They haven't made anyone sick to date. Banzai is ten and he has shown no signs of aging (other than plenty o grey!) he's not stiff at all and still very nicely conditioned. Shenanigans has grade two hip dysplasia and you would never be able to tell. Both dogs are lean, muscular healthy with nice white pearly teeth. We also see a holistic vet in East York. That said, it's not a diet to just jump into. I have witnessed a lot of people who couldn't get through an entire book on the topic jump into the diet with little information and they've done a number on their dogs. This is a really neat article coming from a pro raw view, but still advising people not to just jump in. http://www.caberfeidh.com/NaturalDiet.htm Anyhow, if at the end of your homework (which I strongly recommend and commend you for doing) you are interested, I can recommend some good local sites and resources.
