  1. Well if you want my opinion I say ROTTIE all the way. ( Only because I own 3. ) I also had a Dobbie when I was a little girl. :D Rotties weight can be from 85-130lbs and Dobbies 60-85lbs. Both are gaurdians. I just love the thickness of the Rottie. Dobbies are tallers I believe. I also like the muscle look of the Rottie. My babies are very loyal but the same goes for the Dobbie. I could go on and on about both.... likes and dislikes. I pasted below some reading material for you........ Good luck in your decision... Temperament of a Rottweiler.. The Rottweiler is basically a calm, confident and courageous dog with a self-assured aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships. A Rottweiler is self-confident and responds quietly and with a wait-and-see attitude to influences in his environment. He has an inherent desire to protect home and family, and is an intelligent dog of extreme hardness and adaptability with a strong willingness to work, making him especially suited as a companion, guardian and general all-purpose dog. The behavior of the Rottweiler in the show ring should be controlled, willing and adaptable, trained to submit to examination of mouth, testicles, etc. An aloof or reserved dog should not be penalized, as this reflects the accepted character of the breed. An aggressive or belligerent attitude towards other dogs should not be faulted. A judge shall excuse from the ring any shy Rottweiler. A dog shall be judged fundamentally shy if, refusing to stand for examination, it shrinks away from the judge. A dog that in the opinion of the judge menaces or threatens him/her, or exhibits any sign that it may not be safely approached or examined by the judge in the normal manner, shall be excused from the ring. A dog that in the opinion of the judge attacks any person in the ring shall be disqualified. Temperament of a Doberman.... Energetic, watchful, determined, alert, fearless, loyal and obedient. The judge shall dismiss from the ring any shy or vicious Doberman.

  7. Thanks for all the advice. I am actually going to try all methods and see which one is best working for Patti.
  8. :-? I adopted a Rottie a year ago. Her name is Patti. I can tell that she was mistreated by her previous owners. She was very scared of loud noises. Everytime I talked loud she went running to a corner. She was scared to be touched and under no circumstances would she go near my boyfriend. Everytime we would wave our hand in the air she would crouch down. All the signs of abuse was there. Anyways sorry this is long..... Ever since we got her she will not let us cut her nails. We tried taking her to the groomers, vets and even let her watch as we cut our other 2 Rotties nails. She will not have it! She barks and snapps at us. We tried using treats and stuff but no way...... I do not like taking her to the groomer because they tie her to a wall and she looks very scared. I do not want her to be scared of humans, so to put her through that it will ruin what I have establish with her and that is she can trust us we will not hurt her. Does anyone have suggestions? PLEASE.. :hmmmm:
  9. My dogs get colds all the time. Especially the 2 youngest. We always take them to the vet and they perscribe meds for them. It doesn't hurt to ask the vet.
  10. 1 Rottie I bought from a very good breeder in Massachusetts. 1 I adopted and the other I bought from a breeder in Hungary.
  11. I think I'll send a little email also. But I must admit I need to calm down first! Otherwise I will probally get myself in trouble. I tend to have a temper when I comes to deffending my DOGGY friends!
  12. :onfire: I came across this article on another website and boy oh boy did my blood start to boil. The article states to ban all Pitts, mixes etc. How can anyone ban a breed? There are no bad " Breeds " only careless owners. The article even mentions other breeds that are so called dangerous. I have a tenant who owns a Pitt and she is the sweetest little girl. 13. :B-fly: Congratulations!!!
  14. :bigcry: I just don't understand.. I may never understand. WHY on GOD's Earth do people place their pets in harm? I cry everytime I see photos like the ones I just saw. I am soooo sad now. Those poor, poor dogs!!! I couldn't imagine the pain these animals are suffering. Once when my Patti had a cut on her paw pad I cried for her! I knew that she was in pain and she couldn't tell me how much it hurt. OMG! I am speachless....I beg that everyone who hurts their pets just because it is fun get everything back on them, and they feel the same pain as their " Pets" ... :modla:
  15. I like the kong. My dogs can play forever. Also my dogs never get tired of the ropes and balls.
  16. The nicknames I call my dogs are; For Free, I call her Feebe, Freeway, Cutie and Pouchie. For Patti, I call her Patti Cakes, Peppermint, Big Bum ( she is a big girl ) and Girlfriend. We I need both the girls to come I say GIRLS and they come running. For Asim, I call him Sassim, Trouble, Demon in disguise :evilbat: ( he teases the girls soooo bad ) and Moofoo.
  17. My favorite breed is the Rottweiler. The breed I wish to have.... I will always want to have Rottweilers. :Dog_run: I currently have 3.
  18. I own 3 Rotties and I would own more if I could. My babies are 4yrs, 1 1/2 yrs and 7 months. They vary from 70lbs to 135lbs. They are all angels. The first thing any owner of ROTTIES needs to do is be the LEADER. It is funny that I came across this board because the other day my boyfriend mentioned to me after a trainning session with our babies " I don't understand how any dog bites someone." Our dogs are very well trained and are gentle giants. I own a multi family home and my dogs are loved by all my tenants and their visitors. I agree with everyone else that stated ROTTS are not all bad, there are only bad owners.
