Hi Lemon dog, I know which board and I know which person. I believe she has mentionned in the past her child was bitten by a dog, but I think it was her own, not sure. I think she has a little bit of a grudge with the forum too, as it seems as if she had some impolite things to say about dogs needing homes there too, saying she gave up trying to adopt one, and would rather buy one. Why she remains on a dog rescue site if she has no intention of rescuing a dog, I dont know :o Best to ignore - please dont think the site feel as she does, if you read the replies, you'll see they were just as shocked as you were  Lisa xx

Awww shucks, I opened this message thinking it was a recipe   If your animal is acting weird all of a sudden, best to get it checked by a vet just to make sure there's no illness causing it

:iloveyou: :D Beautiful dogs :D Are you sure Cassie is a whippet? She looks suspiciously like our Sky (except another colour) and she's a lurcher of some description. I think there's some whippet in her though, so that could be the similarity. Thinking of you all

Will send those kisses and hugs on the way for Sky and Badger - have added Badger to the grand total - yipeeee! Badger had a little attempt at trying to be boss dog, but Sky didn't even attempt to show who was boss, she just looked at him as if to say "Yeah, right, you think you're boss do you? Hmmph - never!"... He's a little blighter when it comes to food, you cant eat without him trying to pinch it, but we just said "No!" - not shouting, but a deeper voice than normal, and he stopped - although he went on to do it the next time, he stopped when we said no again. He's a good lad, he just needs a few manners - little bit of training, nothing big :D

Sorry - got a bit carried away on the pictures forum! Yup - Badger is home, he's fab - very loving, no mess in the house yet, ok with the kids, and getting on with Sky. He's trying today to become top dog, but not getting anywhere, they're not fighting though :) I have some new pics, cant remember if I posted them here or not, but if not I'll do it tonight or tomorrow :)

Never heard of PETA til I went to that site when someone showed me two videos, one of what happened to the IAMs testing dogs, and another showing alleged policemen throwing a poor dog about as part of it's training. Not sure who to believe, but there's definitely no smoke without fire, and I wont risk buying an IAMs product just to be safe. Here's a link that might be of help: http://www.uncaged.co.uk/petfood.htm I think they have a list of all those who test on animals. James Wellbeloved is one, it has just been taken over by someone who does test on animals, so might not be on the link.

I'm sure you're welcome to post their pics on the pictures board - I bet they're lovely :)
-
I cant say I would believe everything on the IAMs site either, they're hardly likely to say "Yes we did it!"... :-? Taste testing on animals is one thing, removing an animals kidney to test their low protein kidney diet is another. :(

I think a puli cross whippet would be cute :D Then again I am a dog on stilts lover  (and a crossbreed lover too - rescue crossbreed of course)

Was given a link the other day showing the video footage, was horrified. I would never use their products anyway (vastly overpriced) but this just confirmed it for me.

It can be tender to the touch for a couple of days as far as I know, but I've never had to do it to my dogs, as they came from the adoption centre already chipped, so can't say from personal experience - sorry. :)

I cant feel Sky's and she's a skinny dog (lurcher), haven't felt for Badger's but I doubt I'd be able to feel it. They're only tiny, smaller than a grain of rice I think. :)

Symtoms of worms?? (thinking that Ben might have worms)
LisaLQ replied to Crested's topic in Veterinary information
As far as I know full tummy, bloated look, off their food sometimes, or the other way too - very hungry. Scooting round on their bum, gnawing at their back end. If they're being sick a lot or you have seen worms in their poo, then they must have them pretty bad. Doing the right thing worming him - what symptoms did he have? :) -
Awww what a babe! He is lovely, you are so very lucky! :D I agree with K, Oswald is cool, Ozzy would be nice for short (not a fan or anything of course :P )...

Sky - Skybie, Sky-baby, Cowbags, Oi get off the sofa.... Badger - Bidger-Bodger-Badger-Bidgery-Bodgery-Boo (all one nickname!) - and he's not even here yet   Ok, where's the men in white coats :o
-
I read somewhere that some people reduce the ammount of kibble that the dog has and replace it with green beans and live yoghurt....but I've never done it. I suppose it just fills them up, but I know that Sky would never eat it! When Sky had to lose weight, we just lowered the ammount of food she had, less treats too, and more exercise. Then you find a balance that keeps it off and yet doesn't make them lose any more. Here's a link that might help (just did a search on overweight dogs)... http://www.canineplanet.co.uk/hart003.htm Hope it helps :)

Thanks again everyone :D Glad you liked the link too - they're a great rescue :) Badger comes home tomorrow, have been shopping for bowls, leads, collars and treats - great fun! Hard work yet to come housetraining etc, but I'm sure he'll catch on quickly. Will post more when something happens, maybe tomorrow when he comes home :D

So sorry to hear the bad news  I agree the decision is up to you. Our thoughts are with you whatever you decide :( Lisa xx

They're gorgeous - I love their little zigzag collars :D

Hi Jen - lurchers are fab aren't they? :D Badger isn't coming home til Tuesday, he's in Cambridgeshire, so he's a long way from us, and not having a car, we haven't met him yet - but we've been "homechecked" (apparently it wasn't a formal one as they knew we'd be ok before they came) and they have met Sky and the babies and think he'll be fine :) Can't wait and I will post pics as soon as I have some :D
-
Finally found someone close to a Jollys  - thought it was only me, fab arent they? Best thing is you can take your dog in with you (we used to take Buffy down there and pinch the food out of the help-yourself bins, see if she liked it! ) Been getting the Autarky from there for about a year, but it's not a common brand they might have only added it to your one recently. Only reason I've changed to Davies is because I can get that delivered by the bloke up the road, but apparently CSJ (who also make a dog food) deliver Autarky - they have a website too, but don't have the link on me I'm afraid.

Sky's a good name, especially for a blue dog - our Sky is blue and white, hence the name. A good site for dog names is http://www.bowwow.com.au :) Hope it helps, congratulations, and I agree, we must see pics  :D

Thanks everyone! :D Prairie_Gurl - that would be lovely, as it would mean me having to come over to the States - something I've always wanted to do! Sadly bank balance, and lack of babysitter means that wont be possible, but thanks for the offer  Greyhounds make lovely pets, Badger is only part greyhound, but even so, he's got the laid back and friendly attitude :D

Thanks Slim :D Sorry Shannon - you're right - read it wrong, didn't see the bit to bk_blue there, and thought when you said about the white tip to the tail you were on about Badger  Sorry!
