Ah I love the Harrier, of the hound breeds it and the Bloodhound are the only ones I have ever considerd. Alas I live in a townhome and do not think the neighbours would enjoy the houndly music they make.
I'm hoping she will grow out of it as she gets older.
Ahhh, young dog then? I freind of mine gave up on replacing his dogs bed until it was 18months old - just couldn't stop him from eating it.
Hey does it automatically log in? Maybe someone from home went to dogo and logged in auctomaticaly then went to check out the PM's for fun?
I had Pik, who is at my house today, check to see if either PC in the house had Dogo open on it as soon as I saw me online - Nope. Doesn't seem to have been anything happening since then - hope nothing comes of it.

F-4090 Just my personal choice of course, but, I wouldn't be choosing these brands myself: to much salt, suger, by product, unidentified stuff, way to much corn, wheat and soy. Two differnet kinds of kibble is a cool idea though.

Good products. It may also help if you also put some appropriate dog chews like Kongs etc in the crate with the dog so it has options. How long is it in the pen for daily?

Canidae is pretty good and my dogs seem to think its more palatable then Wellness. Kavik is a little bit of a picky eater and he never turned his nose up at Canidae.

Norfolk Terrier? Norwich Terrier? Scottie?

This may be a bit of an aside but: Speaking as someone who has a nonpitbull that behaves aggressively when encountering strange dogs (BTW this behaviour in my dog may be fear motivated but I'm not sure) while leashed I have to say that any comment that the owner is doing something wrong by taking their unsocialized dog or dog with behaviour issues out in public is really . . . idiotic (sorry I don't usually like to so directly attack peoples opinions but that's how I feel.) How the h*** are you supposed to socialize the dog or help it get over its issues if you never take it out. Socializing the dog prevents bitings. Of course you have to have the dog under control and of course your not going to start by taking the dog for a walk in the playground or busy park but a walk around the block in the evening is a good way to expose the dog to other situations and beings in a controlled way. So what if my dog barks or growls at you a bit - we are working on his issues thanks - not ignoring them.

Aonir - I would change puppy food gradually as your pup will be eating whatever brand you'll be using for quite a long time. Just my opinion and personall preference you understand. Some of brands I think seem good: Wellness Canidae (don't know if they have puppy) Solid Gold GO! (don't knwo if they have puppy) I have heard good things about: Flint River Innova Wysong hmmm I seem to have forgotton some And of course there is always BARF/RAW! :D :D :D

Well presuming the very best possible scenario: This could be someone who is not aware of the horrible over population of dogs and the difficulty finding homes for pit bulls especially and someone who is not aware of all that should go into a breeding and that no breeding should be unplanned so that animal overpopulation and unsound breeding/traits are not contributed to and someone who is not aware that there are something like 6 cats and/or dogs born in north america for every person and that there are many special considerations to breeding as far as bitch and puppy health and safety and future home and life and betterment of breed genetics and public image. I know that sounds like a lot not to be aware of but a lot of it is environment, you can't blame a person for not knowing things and holding a paticular opinion when they have not been exposed to an opposing opinion. There are lot of geographic area and social circles who have never been exposed to the facts on dog breeding or really given it much thought and that is the norm there. I'm not saying this is OK or good but you have to educate before you can hold people accountable IMHO. I know the situation may sadden or anger you but I think we have to approach this from a here and now point of view. So: 1) There is a pregnant bitch. 2) The owner does not have the money for much in the way of vet care. 3) This seems to have been an unplanned litter so we can assume proper health checks were not completed 4) This is a breed with some history of bad breeding and a poor public image. As I see it we further need to know: 1) How far along is the bitch? 2) What is the temperment, age, physical condition and health of the bitch and sire? 3) How much money can the person commit to vet care and supplies? 4) Is it too late to spay? 5) What are the priorites for their bitch/puppy care needs? If the Pitbull_lover would respond perhaps we can help to do the best thing possible from this point forward. Please do respond Pitbull_lover.

Sadly its legal here in Canada too, although some progress has been made to correct this and it is getting far less common.

Perhaps you could have asked him "Did you come to the off-lead dog park just so you could be that offensive or are you like this all the time, there are support groups for people like you ya know." Or communicate more simply as dog lover suggested and jam a stick in his spokes.

I often get the dreaded red X at work but not at home. Could be something to do with computer capabilities but sometimes people link pics from sites (not sure that's how its done here but I think so) and then later the site gets changed and the pic is no good anymore. Maybe BlackGSD will come along sometime and post a few more pics for us. Can you see other pics, perhaps in the Pictures forum? WELCOME.

Purina does not list their full ingredients of their dog food online, they list some of their sources of protien as: - Beef, Lamb, Real fish or poultry - Soybean meal, Corn Gluten meal - Poultry by-product meal And that is Purina One their premium brand. If your dog is healthy and happy you could probably keep it on Purina but if you want to look into a different dog food you should look into one with no Corn and certainly no Corn Gluten Meal, no by-product, no this or that ingredients, no unindentified meat or poultry and a food with a good source of protien as the first ingredient and peferably for the second ingredient too.

OK first of all I probably would have done some serious damage to the guy and his bike but that would have been very bad so I am not advocating that. Second, and please believe me I'm saying this with the kindest possible intentions, leash the dog when its outside, for its own saftey or get a fenced area, even an xpen. Legally speaking, it does not matter why Free was distressed. It will be you and Free who pay in any misunderstanding. And there are people who are afraid of dogs (or who have a relig. based intolerance of them) they are not going to want your dog even walking, calmly, tail-waggingly up to them. They will get scared or behave in a way that may incite the dog to behave in a way it may not normally behave and they would, legally not be at all liable (common driveway) now if he was in your house or your private fenced yard that would be different. Third - The guy is a lying jerk!

My friend has got to get rid of his APBT

The Humane Society here offers boarding and considerably reduced costs when available for people who will be hospitalized, incarcerated or something like that. I'm not sure if your freind would qualify or not or if your SPCA offers the same. Its not ideal but the general idea was to keep dogs with their owners whenever possible so they would not be taking up adoptive homes when they only needed temprory housing. Maybe you could suggest it to your SPCA if they are a shelter that freqently has open kennels. -
Solid Gold makes a kibble which is designed for short term diet OR regular diet when mixed with meat. I did it for a while and my dogs loved it. The kibble - Holitique or something has excellent ingredients but is shy on meat and calories. I never had a problem mixing but if you are adding a fair portion of meat to a dog food that already has enough protien and calories you may be loading on the protien and cals. If you have a young active dog this may not be a problem for a while. If you are just going to add a wee bit to flavour or get the dog ready for a more BARF/RAW diet then I don't see a problem though. If the kibble is low in protien/meat etc then definately go ahead.

My apologies, I must have not been paying enough attention when reading. So then Fargo, North Dakota?

Pik is "hanging his hat elsewhere" right now. He was by yesterday and asked how everyone at Dogo was, he may be by tomorrow, I'll see if I can get him to post.
you'd be surprised at what a dog can do, even if freaked out by the waves. He just might have been able to rescue you if you needed it!!
It is possible, he seemed very determined. Still I'll have to watch him closely - don't want him getting any foolish ideas until his swimming is stronger - I'd be out one very cute and devoted dog if something went wrong.
-
RAW/BARF???? Come on Rowie, you know you want to, everybody is doing it.
-
If they are healthy and happy it is ok, but if you want to improve their health, you may want to investigate different kibbles or go with raw/barf diets. In my opinion comercial kibble is usually better than comercial canned dog food.

Every dog I have met seems to like paper - some will go to great lengths to steal it and eat it, doesn't seem to have harmed them.

It helps if you can get someone to (or pay someone to) come in and let them out half way through the day. I suppose you could keep up pup that way but you'd have to get someone to come in way more (3-5x a day depending on age) or just stay and dogsit and it would cost quite a bit.
