1. It's just that... I don't want to make a decition and then regret it later. I don't want to wake up one morning and say: "Oh, I wish I wouldn't have neuterd him." I know it's just a small operation, but that operation will change his life wether he knows it or not. And that means that this decition will change his life. If something does go wrong, then I'm responsible and I KNOW I will blame myself the rest of my life! I still want the girl. I have been thinking of several diffirent things like... 1. Buying a boy instead and then "renting" a girl and makeing pups with her. 2. Keeping the girl locked up in my room and not letting Ben in during the heat no matter how much he screams and yells behind the door. There are atleast a dosind more, but I'll end it there. None of them seem reasonable or smart. But somehow neither does neutering. I really wish someone could take this decition makeing off my shoulders and take the blame and responsibility if something bad ever does happen. But I guess this is what life is like. /Crest
2. Not right yet, mouse. I still kind of think it's against nature... :-? Or am I just plain weird?? /Crest
3. Thanks mouse! :) /Crest
4. I'm so, so sorry Daisysmom! It must be very hard for you. *gives yoy a big hug* But she is in a far better place now. Atleast I think she is. /Crest
5. I'm beeing torn appart. Some people I've asked advice from have said that I should ABSOLUTELY NOT neuter Ben! They say it's the absolutely WORST thing I could do. But still... I hate seeing him when he screams to get outside because a girl in heat has gone by our house. It isn't very nice either when he tries to hump against my dad's feet and hands. NEVER EVER MINE OR MY MOTHERS!! I think that is because dad is a guy who can never say no to Ben. Ben thinks that I'm the boss in the house and does exacly what I want when I want it. Mother is boss number 2, but he thinks I'm a bit above mom. Then he sees that HE is boss number 3 in our house and that dad is the one that has no say in our house. This has been going on since Ben was about 6 months old. I've tried to stop that, but I know that dad is the only one that can show that he is the boss over Ben. I've tried to make dad understad it, but YA THINK HE DOES?! :O I'm more afraid that Ben's personality will change. He's such a fantastic dog, the way he is, and I don't want to do ANYTHING to harm him. K: Thanks for the text. It made me really think. My mom is against castration. Dad doesn't really know what castration even means. (:O) In a way I would want to use Ben in my breeding programme someday, but.. it's the allergies that puzzle me the moast and the fact that he is scared of other dogs and humans, because I didn't understand how important it is to sozialace a dog when he is a pup. I still need advice. What would YOU do?
6. K: I've been trying to search the nopuppymills.com -page, but I can't find any place where I can post my poems. I've been there before too, but haven't found any poems. Mabye I'm just blind...?

10. Well... With a hairless dog the only alternative is a chip. I mean... Sure you could tattoo, but how nice would it look like on a HAIRLESS DOG? :o
11. The girl will not be alterd, because the goal for me is to become a breeder and for that I need a girl. So it has been a tough and hard search and I think I've finally found a breeder that I can buy a girl from. I've carefully gone through what qualities I want the girl to have and what qualities I want from her pedigree and family. I have very high standards so it has been hard finding the perfect puppy. My first thought was to use Ben allso in breeding, because he has a fantastic mouth (one of my many goals for the puppies, because Chinese Cresteds are known of having incomplete teeth. Some don't have any premolars at all), but because Ben has allergies (or we don't know exacly WHAT it is. It might be just dry air or something) it seems that fixing him would be the best alternative. But the fact is that I don't want to harm him and I don't want to fix him and regret it later. I really don't know if it is the best alternative. But he is a dog that marks everything and everywhere. If there is a girl in heat somewhere in the neighbourghood, he goes absolutely crazy; he screams to get outside and can be a week without a tinyest piece of food. He tries to mount even my dad and his brothers (never me, my mom or anyone else, just them!). He allso is very territorial. He barks at people walking on the street, just to show to them that this is HIS territory and no one elses! He isn't vicious or aggressive (it even is in the breed standard: "Never vicious"). But still... It seems like going against the nature. Could someone tell me their experiences, good and bad. I really want to know about the health factors and things like that. I've heard even that some dogs that have been the kindest dogs alive have become very aggressive and vicious after getting fixed. So I really need to know what would be the best thing for both Ben and the girl AND ME! Please tell me! /Crest
12. I've been thinking about this long and hard and I can't get any wiser with this. I'm getting a bitch this spring and I know I will get it tougher with two dogs of diffirent sex. But this is the thing... I don't know if I want to... nuture (is that what it's called?) Ben. It seems like it's against nature in some way. I've even heard that you get incresed chanse of cancer if you do nuture your dog and that's the last thing I want. Is it possible to have a male and a feemale under the same roof at the same time? What should I do? Ben will be about 2 years old when the girl comes. I really need some help and advice. I know it might be best to do the operation on Ben, but I still... I still don't really want to do it. Help me, please! /Crest

Dog Attack

I just think it's so sad. The thing that is more upsetting is the fact that if a purebred dog attacks someone, it at the same time labels the entire breed. Hasn't it done it with Doberman's, Rottweiler's, German Shepards and other "dangerous" dogs? No one even THINKS that it's not the dog's fault.
14. courtnek: FINALLY someone who understands!! The most idiotic things I've EVER heard is AFTER I have explained that: "But... but... They don't shed!!" or, "But you can't see the dander.". It makes me mad when people think that you have to SEE the dander for it to be there! If you don't see it, well, I guess there isn't any dander around then.... *sigh* When do people learn? /Crest

Dog Attack

I have bad experiences about this too. My ex neighbour had always had German Shepards as long as I can remember. (only one at a time, but still) The first one nearly killed a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel while she was loose!! The second one was just mad! They kept him only for about 6 months before they gave him away. The third one was a nightmare! Let me tell his story. When he was a puppy, they used to play with him a lot. He was a very nice and playfull puppy. Just adorable. Guess what they did to him. They hit him every time he was bad! (And how many times a day does a puppy do bad things?) Once when he was little, he escaped to our yard. He came to me wagging his tail and he was just plain adorable. You could see he was happy when he saw me (of some reason have dogs always liked me since I was a baby). When the neighbourg noticed this he came yelling and screaming to get him. Never even laid any notice to me. Guess how bad I felt afterwards. When the dog was about 6 months old they put up a kennel cage on their back yard. There the dog spent the rest of his life. Barking, screaming, jumping against the walls. It was just plain horrible. Then one winter while he was off leash on the ice came a man with a tiny papillon. I don't know how everything went but the point is that the German Shepard KILLED the Papillon. Guess what the owner (my ex neighbourg said. Arrogantly as always: "Well, insurance will pay.". He got MANY complaints of the dog that barked in the cage from dawn till dusk all year around. It didn't matter how cold it was outside. The dog was out and stayed out. Where else would it stay when they were out partying and drinking? Finally Ben came to our house. On the second day that Ben was here, I took him out to our back yard. The German Shepard was in his cage. When he saw Ben I could see the rage in his eyes! The hair on his neck rise up and he growled and barked at poor little Ben that was only 7 weeks old. That dog nearly jumped over the fence and Ben wet himself then and there. I rushed him inside just to be on the safe side. I wan't going to let that dog kill Ben too! From that moment Ben has been afraid of other dogs. TERRIFIED of German Shepards. To make a long story short, the neighbourg went bankrupt and lost his house. They had to move and dogs weren't allowed in the new place. Well the "only logical thing to do" was to kill the dog. Even if I hated what the dog did, I don't blame him. I blame the neighbourg. Luckilly he is my EX neighbourg! But the thing is, that dog was SO smart. One day I was on my yard with Ben and he started barking again. I just said with a very low and growling voice (Note: I didn't scream or yell.): "No! Quiet!". He calmed down instantly! After that I offcourse said: "Good dog!". But the fact is: a dog that is so smart and so intelligent shouldn't have been locked up in a cage from dawn untill dusk and given the final shot (vaccine) when you couldn't keep him anymore. The sad part is that the neighbourgs oldest daughter has allso German Shepards and treats them as badly too. No one can do anything else then just pray and cry. But that doesn't help that much now does it? Ben has finally noticed that not all dogs are bad. He has gotten a coulple friends from Bichon Havanases. But he is still very scared of them. Thoose menthal scars he got that one day will take a lot of time to heal. I'm just glad that the healing process has started. /Crest
16. I'm so glad McKay is doing a bit better! The sad thing about parvo is that it's really tough on young pups and older dogs. An adult, healthy dog has a hard time with it, but gets through it a lot faster and better then a pup. I don't want to be mean or pessimistic. It's just that I hope you understand that it is going to be VERY tough on McKay. There are too many dogs that die because of parvo. I really, REALLY hope McKay will become better! She needs a lot of attention, support and love right now. And I really hope thoose two other pups get treatment. I'm getting another Crested this spring and I had some difficulties finding a breeder that matches my high standards. I practicly bought Ben by just calling a couple times. I didn't know what kind of risks I made. Luckilly Ben is ok and is the best dog in the world, but it could have ended up really bad. I was lucky! Then my standards were low. My main goal was to get a puppy and that was it. Now when I have been reading articles about theese things and chatted with people I understand how sick the world actually is. Can you believe it that some breeders sell puppies as HYPO ALLERGIC to allergic and asthmatic people!?!? (Hypo allergic = ALLERGY FREE!! DOES NOT CAUSE ANY ALLERGIES ON ANYONE!!) And do you know what they excuse it with? "Oh, they are hypo allergic because they DON'T SHED (!!!!)." :o Everyone should know that: EVEN THOUGH A DOG DOESN'T SHED, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT DOESN'T PRODUCE SALIVA, POOP, URINATE OR HAVE DANDER!!!!! (Dander = dead skin cells. EVEN PEOPLE HAVE DANDER!!!! How in the world can someone say that dogs DON'T have dander when even PEOPLE have dander?!?) AAARGH! I can get SO mad!! You know what is the ONLY hypo allergic dog? A dog that is DEAD!! So if you want a hypo allergic dog then get a DEAD DOG!!! Sorry about this. This just makes me absolutely mad! People can be such big a** ho**s! Aramsey: Go to http://www.nopuppymills.com There is LOADS of information about diffirent degrees of puppymillers and about petshops. Luckilly there are people fighting this! Unfortunately there aren't that many of them. There are more puppymillers. /Crest
17. I think it hinders the breed! Without a doubt! There are many examples to that. Collies = Lassie St. Bernards = Bethoven Dalmatians = 101 Dalmatians German Shepards = Policedog Rex That's only four, but there are many more! The latest trend is always the thing that gives you more money! So if Dals are IN then you should breed Dals to all cost... Right? The puppymillers get loads of cash by selling the pups to petshops. Even some "breeders" make some good cash! But with "breeders"... But what happens to the dals that are miscolored? Believe or not they are KILLED!!!!!! Oh, I'd better stop writing before I explode! I can REALLY get angry with this! :pissed: /Crest
18. I am SO sorry for McKay! I hope she pulls through! I'll pray for her tonight before I go to bed! I hate to bring this up, but the fact that someone buys a pup from a petshop makes me really mad! Do you know why? Because every single puppy that is in a petshop is from a puppymill. No responsible breeder would EVER sell their puppies to a petshop! They might be cute, cuddly and extremely adorable. You might feel bad for them, but don't EVER buy a puppy from a petshop, because if you do, you support puppymills and backyard breeders. There is a lot of info about puppymills, backyard breeders etc. on the net and it's really NOT pretty! I think it's so... DUMB that because of selfish people that only want to make money thousands if not millions of puppies and dogs will suffer! Evem their owners! I once read this heart brakeing novel about a rottweiler that came from a puppymill. It only lived a couple weeks and sufferd her entire life! I am REALLY sorry for McKay, but I hope that if you the next time buy a puppy, then buy it from a responsible breeder. And not just the first breeder you encounter, but search around and take a puppy from the absolutely best. The puppies in petshops might be cheaper, but their length and quality of life will be much worse then a puppy's that has been bought from a responsible breeder. That breeder will also help you during your dogs entire life when ever you need it. If your dog won't eat, if he or she has been having diharrea, or if you just have something on your mind, a responsible breeder will help and advice you. You should allso be prepared that McKay might have other problems besides parvo. It's just a fact that is way too often when it comes to dogs from petshops and puppymills. I hope this helped you atleast a bit. Love: Crest
19. Thanks mouseatthebusstop! It's really hard to think of more things to put on thoose pages. Any ideas?
20. Thanks, Shannon_C! It will take me a while to read that, but I promise you I will! :D /Crest
21. I put my (or actually Ben's) homepage up in dogomania's top 100 list. I am very interested in seeing how high we could get! Could you go to our homepage at http://personal.inet.fi/koti/crested and vote for us. On the bottom of the first page that appears there is a link to the voting page. Voting is completely free! I would really appreciate it! Thanks! Oh, and write in my guest book. Oh, one more thing. The gallery has been opend a little while ago, so if you were on my page before and didn't see a gallery, then I'm happy to say, it's functional now! /Crest
22. Thank you all for helping and supporting me. A couple of breeder friends I have suggest that it's not food allergies, but allergies to something else. I've been getting help from many diffirent sources and everyone seems to have their own idea. I'm still very happy that people are willing to help. It don't seem like I'm that alone because of this. So thank you all! I still would like to know more of what you think and I'm still searching for anwsers. I think I will go to homemade food but it's the vitamine thing that scares me the moast. What kind of vitamines should a dog get daily and where can I get them from? I told you that Ben got this "bump" on his head last night. Now it's much better and looks like this (picture below). So it doesn't look too bad, but there is a sign still that reminds me that something is wrong. It has gotten a tiny bit more red then it was this morning, so I will put a bit Betadine again and clean it away with water and put Fucitalmic again. (I don't want to mix two diffirent medicins) So I still would like to know your theories allso of what it might be. Thank you a milion! /Crest
23. DogPaddle: What's a BARF -diet?
24. Now I'm really... upset. I changed Ben's food recently from Nutro Choise Maintance Mini to home food because he got allergic. A bit later we found that he still scratched his throat so that it even bled a little and looked absolutely horrible (when he was on antibiotics and fuciderm it stopped) and we had to do some detective work and found that he started to scratch himself everytime he had chewed on a piece of firewood. So we took the firewood out so that Ben couldn't chew on them and he became to his old self. Yesterday I gave him for the first time a big bowl of Solid Gold food (before I had just given him a few) and he started scratching himself. Well I figured that he must have gotten a piece of firewood from somewhere and started searching the floor inch by inch... and found nothing. He ate about a half of the solid gold (he hadn't eaten for about a week... only that much that he didn't starve) and at night I wonderd why he kept scratching his throat, then licking his paws, scratching his HEAD, then licking his paws, scratching his HEAD, licking his paws, scratching his throat, licking his paws... So I took a good look at him. His throat was a bit red, but nothing serious, but then I took a look at his head. He had a big bump under the skin and the area around it was blood red. He had scratched the bump so that it bled. So I cleaned it up with betadine and then washed it off (betadine just to get rid of any bacterias he might have there just to be on the safe side) and then I put fuciderm on it. I took away his cup of Solid Gold and this morning the bump in his head had gone down (it is a bit red, but nothing too bad anymore). His troat was ok. A small area was still a little redish, but not at all bad.
25. K: I'm just a big devil! <-- See? No, but I'm really sick of the fact that some breeders actually seem to have a "slogan" going something like this: "Our dogs are hypo allergic. Everyone who's allergic can tolerate OUR dogs! Buy one of OUR dogs! It's risk free!" WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY SELLING THEN!?!? DEAD DOGS?!?! The only reason why Cresteds and other hairless breeds are sold as "hypo allergic" is because: 1. you don't see their dander 2. some people think it's the HAIR that causes allergies  3. they are easy to clean, so the dander goes down the drain. (Wich of the third one is the only one wich makes sence!) /Crest
