i went into a pet store...i asked the owner where did one particular dog come from. She says to me: from his mother and father. I was with my friend and after the owner said that to me my friend tried to drag me out of the store but I wasnt moving. I said to the owner: well, that's quite obvious. What puppymill are they from? The owner looked under her desk and finally, after awhile answered me: they are from Oklahoma. Well, i am doing research now on this pet shop. I didnt like her smug attitude, AND she was trying to sell this chihuahua for $1100...
Make them sweat!!! Go to the petstore again and act like your inspecting the place inch by inch from wall to wall and cealing to floor. Investigate every single place in the store you can go to and when somebody asks what you are doing, tell them that you are just takeing a look at the place where the puppies go to from the puppymills. Then go to one of the puppies and say loud and clear so that everybody can hear you that you heard that this puppy's mother was shot a couple weeks ago because she got to exhausted after having 50 puppies in her four year life. Then walk to the next puppy and say that you heard that this ones brothers and sisters were killed by parvo virus as was his parents. Then go and ask how many puppies have died or been killed in their shop the past year. And to top it all off, ask them if they have seen thoose ten puppies with serious symptoms of parvo. And end the conversation with screaming that the shop is a deathtrap to all pets and humans as furiously ad you can before bursting out of the door mumbling "they killed my dog" (small white lie for the greater good) so everybody passing you will hear you!. :diablotin: Oh and it would be cool if you could allso say loud and clear before bursting from the shop that you bought a puppy from there two weeks ago and who died just a week ago and that you are going to press charges on them for cruelty to animals! :evilbat: MWAHAHAHAHA! Ahh, how I love the smell of endangered petshops in the middle of the night! :evilbat:

I hate puppymills  Here in Iceland is one puppymill and they have abote 150 dogs :( And I cant do anything to stop it  :x I hate this plase you kan see pichers of it here http://frontpage.simnet.is/jv1/aboutdalsmynni.html so sad but true  here is one picher
Petstors in Iceland dont sell puppyes but its one puppymill in Iceland anyway so sad :( sorry aboate my english
I've been on that page once before. I did Ben's homepage again from square one and now it's finished. Of some reason the new layout don't want to show with netscape (a blue-white layout), but with internet explorer it shows perfecly. I really need to know if everything works for you. Could you check the page and see if everything works? If it doesn't could you please tell me so I can make it correct? Thanks. Oh, and the URL is: http://personal.inet.fi/koti/crested .... Wow... that's strange... Netscape shows it if you put /index.htm in the end of that address... :o So, Netscape users, http://personal.inet.fi/koti/crested/index.htm /Crest

Ben gets thousands of kisses and hugs everyday!! And he kisses me back... Actually "kiss" was the first trick he learnt as a baby. I would blow air a little on his nose (beeing about 10-20cm appart) and he would give me a kiss. Now everytime I do that he kisses me! He's so cute! I love that! /Crest

Is Ben having trouble with anal glands?
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Veterinary information
Our kitty, Janie, never scooted on the carpet or anything, but our vet said she probably had minor anal gland issues. (Her butt smelled atrocious, even after we bathed her.) We started feeding her a food with more fiber to make her poo harden up a bit. It worked like a charm -- and there's no more groans of, "Oh, man, my shirt smells like Janie-butt" now :)
Oh, that's exacly what we are having troubles with!! His butt STINKS all the time, so we have started to wipe it every time he's been out and pooped or if he starts to smell (we use thoose wipes that are for tiny babies, you know? without any alcohol or perfume or anything like that. They are just moist ittle paperry thingies...). We started wondering what thoose REALLY smelly dots are on the bedsheets and on our shirts and started sniffing around the house and the stinking led to Ben's butt... :-? He's been lickin his anus a lot, but that has stopped after we started to wipe him, but it sometimes comes anyway... I started giving him the only dry food we have in the house (Pedigree Rice and Lamb if I remember correcly. I bought it from the market at easter time... It's perhaps not the best food available, but that's the only thing in the house) and his poo seems to be a bit harder now, so I hope it will work... /Crest -
Is Ben having trouble with anal glands?
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Veterinary information
Ohh! That sounds... err... lovely... :-? I've been giving Ben just porridge lately and it keeps Ben's poo a big... soft... kind of mushy... Would it help if I would give him dry food now (that allways makes his poo firm or hard)? Would they emty on their own? /Crest -
Ok, I'm REALLY tired, so there can come a LOT of typos and missunderstandings (I'll sort them out tomorrow), but this is the thing... I suspect that Ben might actually have problems with the anal glands instead of worms. He is smelling his butt and it comes this REALLY discustingly smelling thing out of it. (not poo) He doesn't want anyone to touch his tail or bum, but he lets us wipe his butt. He hasn't dragged his but on the carpets or anything like that (I've heard that if a dog does that he's got anal gland problems), so I didn't think it was that at first, but this smelly goo?! What is it?? It looks like a little brownish waterry stuff... I can't explain it, but it smells... Oh, I haven't smelled anything that bad ever in my life! Even thoose REALLY old out-door bathrooms (with the flies and bugs flyeing above it) doesn't smell that bad! (and thoose old out-door bathrooms STINK!) So, do you think it's the anal glands that are giving Ben trouble or am I totally off track here? Can I empty them myself someway or is it better to take him to the vet? (I haven't got a clue on how to empty them) Please help! /Crest

I've heard that the key word here is sweat. Ben does this too, so I've been asking around and I've got the same anwser over and over again... Dogs like the smell and taste of sweat... :o (Gross!!) /Crest

Symtoms of worms?? (thinking that Ben might have worms)
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Veterinary information
Well... It looks like Ben has the anal gland thingy after all... He's got this REALLY smelly goo coming out of his butt. He's still not dragging his behind in carpets and such, but it can't be anything else... Can it? He's really tired and he doesn't wasnt that anyone touches his behind or tail (but he lets us wipe his butt). I'm clueless to what to do... Can I empty them somehow or is it better if I go to the vet with him? /Crest -

Invicible fence? Any good? (x-pens too...)
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
Another thing you could consider getting so that Ben can get some running in is a very long flexi. My flexi's are 26 feet long. That's not much for a Dobe but, I'd think it would give Ben a bit of a run.
I have a 3 meter long flexi that I use. I stopped using it for a while, but when I started to get wrist pains (the very well known "mouse wrist") I started using the flex again (takes it easier on the wrist). Are the mesurements by 1 "wall" or the whole thing? They seem pretty small to me... Can a dog actually RUN in one? /Crest -
Invicible fence? Any good? (x-pens too...)
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
Oh, I've talked to my dad and he's NOT going to budge!! He's SO stubborn!! (ok, I guess that tells me where I got it from...) It's just that it's a "lethal" combination when two equally stubborn people start fighting eachother... What about thoose x pens (I guess I HAVE to start looking at alternatives... :motz:)... How big can you make them (in cm's, please...)? How do you attatch them to the ground? I mean... If Ben puts his paws up against one of the "walls" does it just lift up or does the construction just... brake? They would be pretty cool when we're going on our little summer cabin this summer and (well it's not ours, it's dad's workplaces little thingy that the employees that own a fraction of it can use sometimes) the place isn't fenced and it's pretty dangerous for a little dog (many rocks, high grass with snakes (I'm 100% sure there are snakes, because it's a heaven for them, even if I haven't ever seen one), very deep water etc, etc), so a pin that you can take with you would be a pretty good idea, but... I just want it to be the kind of place that Ben actually can run and play in (with me offcourse) and that doesn't get demolished everytime he runs against the walls (he has a pretty high power when he sees a rabbit or a cat jumping and walking, so I don't think every material could stand for that much punishment). Oh, and then the little problem... It has to be affortable... Is there any other alternative for x-pens? /Crest -

Jen: Awww! That's so sweet of you, but I'm currently looking for a hairless little girl... /Crest -
Hi, Crested - Ben looks absolutely adorable!! What do you do with his skin in the summer? This is probably a stupid question, but does he get easily burnt in the sun?
Well, that's actually a good question. Ben has dark enough skin that I don't have to do anything, but if a dog has light skin, then you have to apply sunscreen (is that what you call it?) on the skin. A chinese crested is a sun worshipper, whenever the sun makes a sunny spot on the floor/sofa/bed/etc. you will find your doggy there sunbatheing. So if your dog is 24/7 in the sun, you should allso apply sunscreen or try and keep him from the sun a little. :) /Crest

Invicible fence? Any good? (x-pens too...)
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Everything about dogs
Since Ben is small, you have some better options. You can get some x-pens and use those as an outdoor play space, or there are kennel sections you can buy at hardware stores even some that you can put up when you aren't using them. Probably a good size x-pen or other brand pen would be the most economical and easy to use.
Umm... My dad talked about that too, but I don't like the idea of having Ben in a "cage" outside. Our X neighbourg had that (and the thing was WAY too small) for his x German Shepard (When they moved and the new house didn't allow dogs (or just that dog, because it had been very vicious to other dogs and people. He had f.e.x. killed one dog) they just put him to sleep!). The GS was suppoused to be in the cage 24/7 and he was let in only for the night (and sometimes not even then if the owners were partying around). Otherwise he was outside (no matter if it was summer or winter!!). So I got REALLY annoyed with thoose "cages". The dog wasn't happy, the owner wasn't happy (the dog barked ALL THE TIME!!), the neighbourghood wasn't happy... So I see no good in them... I'm GOING to have dad put up a real fence where a fence should be too with a gate on both sides (so Ben doesn't run to the side where the traffic is). He's thinking of putting up somekind of chicken fence looking, green, iron fence... :o Well... What do you think? /Crest -
Symtoms of worms?? (thinking that Ben might have worms)
Crested replied to Crested's topic in Veterinary information
I worm Ben twice a year (as it it custom to do here). The last time I wormed him (I think it was in February) I changed the medicin to a better and more effective one called Axillur (don't know if you have heard of it). It works on 4 diffirent types of worms and on something called Giardia - infection. He had first eaten everything he could get, no matter what it was he ate like a horse! Then he stopped eating totally. Now after I've given him 2 of the three tablets he got his apetite back (wich HAS to be a good sign, right?). I'll keep a close eye on him for a couple days after I've given him the last tablet and if he's still the same, I'll take him to the vet. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't have anal gland problems, because he doesn't drag his butt on the carpets etc. as the dogs usually do if they have them. :) /Crest -
So I wonder is it the same thing that makes a hairless dog hairless as does a hairless cat? :-? and to Crested would you like a hairless cat?
I haven't been reading much about hairless cats (haven't found enough pages about thoose creatures called Sphynx), but I think so. I would love to have a hairless cat, but a hairless cat is much, MUCH more sozialiced creature then a Chinese Crested (a CC is independent) and they can't be long without having their mommy or daddy around. I've heard that a Sphynx's nature is a mix between cat, dog, monkey and child. :D But they are EXTREMELY cute! The only problem is, I'm more allergic to cats then to dogs, but I am definately going to give it a try in the future! /Crest
