2. Meal is considered better. The reasoning behind this is that meat represents real meat with moisture (70%) before processing - which weighs more then grain and so gets it placed first on the ingredient list. By the time they get through processing, all that moisture is sucked out which shrinks it below the grain weight - so you're left with really a grain based diet. Meal already has little to no moisture content and won't shrink below the grain weight after processing. Meal (in this case chicken): The dry rendered product from clean poultry flesh and skin with or without bone. Does not contain feathers heads, feet or entrails. If from a particular source it may state so (i.e. chicken meal, turkey meal etc). Seeing meat + meal as the first two ingredients is good, but meat by itself tells me they are trying to pull a fast one on the consumer. P.S. - I think Canidae is better then Wellness which has a lot of grain in it.
3. You already have one dog that your parent don't think you take care of. What is so important about getting another one? Love the one you have.
4. Good for him/her. Too bad there are so many idiots who don't even screen prospective buyers.
5.  But it left out the part where you feel like you're going to throw up! :drinking:

7. I assure you he is not a stuffed animal. If he was, he wouldn't have cost me $340 at the vet last night. Kato has been dubbed Mr. Poopy Pants since he got back from the show. I figured he picked up an intestinal bug so I took him to the vet yesterday. We found out he's got a clostridium infection - picked up at the show of course. He's also got thickened lower intestines. This could be IBD, but most likely caused by a combo of the infection and get this - undigested flax seeds from the pre-made raw food he eats. They build up in his system and irritate everything. Great. The vet told me to stick with the raw since all his bloodwork looked great, so now I've got to make my own although I can still buy the pre-ground chicken and bone. It's what he was on in the beginning when everything was fine, so I guess I should have stuck with it instead of moving on to the "complete" patties. Now I think back and recall that all the dry foods he had problems with also contained flax seed. Makes me wonder... Oh, and he also has a spot of mange - MANGE! - from the in-laws cat. My poor mangy show dog.
8. Hey everybody. I wanted to let you know what's been happening since I was abducted by aliens. Actually, I was laid off - and a happy day that was too. So now that I have a new, higher paying job that allows me to goof off for extraordinary amounts of time I thought I'd pop in and say hi. Hi. Kato had his first trip out as a special since finishing his championship back in May and took the Breed over two top 10 dogs. Not a bad day. I missed the group though. His next show isn't until February when we head up to the Meadowlands for a Shiba specialty. Anyway, here are some pics. He's all grown up, but still looks sweet - in some cases almost saccharine.

Retired Show Dog

Hmm... my retired show dog is sleeping at my feet. All the retired show dogs I know have been rehomed to family homes if they weren't kept for breeding.
10. Got back late last night from a week of horseback riding. Here's a moose: They are all kinda big, so I will post links to the other pictures. These are from the Snowbird Ski Resort: http://home.comcast.net/~blancm3/saltlake/snowbird_bottom.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~blancm3/saltlake/snowbird_top2.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~blancm3/saltlake/snowbirdbelow.jpg And these are up in the Uintas Mountains where we camped for 3 days at 10,000 feet: http://home.comcast.net/~blancm3/saltlake/meadow_sl3.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~blancm3/saltlake/stream4.jpg No electricity at this place! http://home.comcast.net/~blancm3/saltlake/cabin.jpg And this is a valley in Wyoming: http://home.comcast.net/~blancm3/saltlake/valley_wyoming.jpg
11.
I noticed that you didn't have the disclaimer "At stud to approved Bitches only."
Because he's not! He's not old enough to have his CERF and OFA done yet. I'm not sure if I ever want him to find out how much fun girls are. :D I'm not sure how to do a guestbook. Guess I'd better go find out.
12. I've been working on Kato's website. Please take a look and tell me what you think. Be nice - I taught myself. Kato's Website
13. The fault, as I see it, lands squarely on the breeder for letting someone take a puppy at 2 weeks old. They learn so much from their mother and litter mates during those first 8 weeks. That pup never stood a chance. If you know the breeder, you can report her to the AKC and they will probably revoke her registration priviledges. As for the owners, it doesn't sound like an Akita is something they can handle. Are they asking you to help them find another one, or another type of dog?
14. Some people should not be allowed to own dogs.
15. Sounds like it was someone with a pet who paid to breed to a champion stud dog. You'd think the person with the stud dog would be a little more discriminating about who they bred the dog too. The again, maybe the same person owns both dogs and she's just really irresponsible.
16.

What mag is that in.
GOOD QUESTION...and can we all get a copy???
It's a Shiba breed magazine: Shibas USA
17. His highness has commandeered my pillow. Later he will eat bugs and lick himself.
18. The back cover, but it turned out very nice I think!
19.
Where do you get them, and who makes them?
I get them from a BARFWorld distributor: http://www.barfworld.com/ (Don't look at the prices they have. I pay A LOT less.)
20. See why you should get a little fuzzball!?
21. I do it the easy way. I buy the pre-made BARF patties.
22.
Chicken Soup seems only to be sold in the boonies!!
That's funny. Around here, it's the only one I can find without driving all the way across the county. Doesn't matter anyway I guess since I can't use it anymore. Now I meet a BARF distributor in the Starbuck's parking lot and we exchange goods. I always feel like I'm doing something illegal. LOL
23.
I thought Natural Balance was made by Royal Canin.
I'm pretty sure they are a separate company: http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/
24. If you can get it, I haven't seen a dog yet that doesn't inhale that Chicken Soup food - we have picky eaters.
25. And they take over your couch too!
