1. Yeah, I think he's getting on a bit (he's 7), a complete hyperactive nutcase, smart as hell, very stubborn- and I would be too scared he'd get kicked! I think he'd LOVE it though, running around dodging things and biting things- he'd get off on it fer sure. :D
2. Bloody oath it does! :D
3. Blitz stuck his tail in the open fire once; he used to like to stand on the hearth, bum facing the fire, and warm himself. We didn't even notice until we smelled something like hair burning and we realised it was his tail! He didn't feel a thing (and loved all the fussing over him we made) but the white tip of his tail was all kind of brown.

Hello

Welcome 8) I'm sure you will like it here!
5. I couldn't be bothered logging in and then thought "oh maybe I should." Anyway my above pledge still stands!!!!
6. Actually, now that I think about it maybe not, because he would nip at the sheep's heels.
7. Great photos Dodger 8) Do you think a crossed herding dog eg. heeler/border collie X could do an ok job of herding sheep, for example? (do farmers used mixed bred dogs for working?) My dog is this approximate mix and I think that if he'd been a farm/working dog from birth he'd have been very good at something herding orientated even if it was just chooks.
8. I think it will be fine K, I have absolutely no experience with doggy sutures but with humans it is fine to leave them in a few days after they're supposed to be taken out so long as they aren't infected, and you'd go back anyway for that. :D When we had Tessy Mum was trimming her hair and accidentally cut her belly with the scissors. It needed suturing so Mum got out her kit and stitched her up herself (she's a nurse). Not recommended if you aren't a medico and certainly not for anything serious!!! 8)
9. I haven't seen that one before. It's great!
10. Name: Blitzkrieg Sex: I try but Mum gets mad when I do! Breed: Lost Dogs' Home Mutt (Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie cross) Age: 71/2 (approx dob: July 29) Favourite things: annoying Rinny, cuddling up to Rinny, escaping, running, chewing, eating, shagging, squeaking, playing, sleeping, sooking, throwing tantrums, breathing doggy breath into people's faces and seeing their reactions Greatest wish: to be able to grow wings and go for adventures whenever I want to instead of having to wait for THEM to take me out! Name: Rin-Tin-Tin (Rinny) Sex: Male, but I'm too old for those sorts of shenanigans Breed: German Shepherd cross Age: 16 in February Favourite things: sleeping, being patted, bossing BK round until a few years ago, also liked to pop my head over the front fence and bark in unsuspecting people's ears as they went by. Greatest wish: to lie down and sleep without being trodden on or woken up by BK. (I do like it when he cuddles up to me though  )
11. I'll drink to that :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: Let's party!!!
12. Browsing the www.dogmatch.com.au site and saw these little angels: She looks so sad! This one's my favourite, he looks like a real joker: this GSD/Kelpie X was surrendered after one night :o because the other dog didn't like her. I don't know why I continue to look at these sites, they make me wish I could take in all of them and get me upset at the stupid people who surrender them because they've moved house or picked a dog too boisterous for kids etc etc. Just thought I would share.
13. ah ok I get it now, I did read that earlier on but failed to connect it with your post  Hope all turns out ok for your friend, how awful to lose your dog at what should be a joyous time of year.
14. Sorry but now I am confused... :-?
15. Spoil me anymore and I will turn into a bloodthirsty monster (but will still love my mummy) :P
16. Now now, grass is always greener on the other side isn't it!! I wish I had more chat balls like you! :D
17. ARRRGGRRRRROOFOOFOOF *roll over and thump tail*
18. I am more well trained than I thought! 8)
19. aw shucks K, I just don't have it in me to be a bitch!
20. yes K it crossed my mind but I am giving the benefit of the doubt. Roo et al will be able to tell us for sure, so until then I will be my usual nice self :P
21. It is DEFINITELY possible to train your GSD. My dog didn't go to obedience till he was 7  and he's doing quite well. I wish I had taken him when we got him- would have been a lot easier- but none of our dogs had been formally trained and it never crossed our minds to do it until I spent some time on here! :D
22. Anne I didn't know that about Hugh Wirth. How can he be president of the RSPCA and part own a puppy farm?? He should stand down from one or the other (preferably both :D ), bit of a conflict of interest. I wonder how many of his "business interests" end up at the RSPCA... Dodger- there is a thread on here somewhere about Don Burke and his shady dealings. I've been trying to dig up some dirt on him but no luck on the net anyway, will try in the new year. Sounds like he can never have too much money and has his fingers in way too many pies.
23. I never really got into Harry's Practice, I was watching repeats of it recently and it was ok. So I haven't really seen much of him, maybe a good thing. :) I wonder if he takes that cap of his off to go to bed??? I suppose you've heard about Don Burke (of Burke's Backyard infamy) allegedly part-owning a puppy farm too? Now that makes me mad. :x Actually what really irritates me is these people being prominent media figures or at least the people the more ignorant hoi polloi are going to turn to for advice about pet stuff, and they feed viewers lots of crap advice about buying pets and what sort of pets to get, when it's really all about their own interests. As far as I see it they have a duty to promote responsible pet ownership- looking for a pet at the shelter or breed rescue first off- spaying and neutering- training etc. They should look more towards that instead of encouraging people to buy puppy-farmed, overpriced designer dogs with dubious background and dormant health and temperament issues.
24. My friend's boyfriend's mum is on the veterinary board and apparently (I have no way of proving this!) Dr Harry Cooper, an Aussie TV vet, is facing the board on animal cruelty charges. Has anyone heard of these allegations and can shed more light on it? I'd be disappointed and angry if it were true. :o
25. I think purple texta would look smashing! Seriously: there was a thread some time ago (by koolie I think) where someone coloured their dog's nose in (a bull terrier) with black texta as protection against the sun... :-?
