Boxer or Mastiff?

Hello there. The difference between a Bullmastiff and Mastiff is there height basically, they both have the same temprement has the Bullmastiff was originally created from the Mastiff and Bulldog. I currently own a Bullmastiff myself, they are not for the first time owner....although they have a gentle and loving nature, they are a very strong breed therefore need a firm handler. The males can become very dominant whether they are neutered or not, this is why it is so important to get them well socialized around other dogs from a puppy has well as people etc. They will get on with any pet depending on how well they are bought up together, both my dogs and cats get on great. The breed does have health problems which can be costly, the major ones are hip dysplasia and bloat that is also common in the Boxer. They are not an outdoor dog, they love company and its essential they live in the house with its family rather than living outside. They have a wonderful character.very protective of its family so any stranger that walks in without being invited had better watch out. You mention you had a Rottweiler, well there isn't any difference in size to the Bullmastiff but I am not going to say that this breed will be right for you. I suggest you talk to has many breeders as you can and see there dogs to find out if the breed is right for you and buy a few books of the breed, there are so many do's and don'ts. The ones I recommend are: Bullmastiffs Today The Bullmastiff. There are more that you might find interesting, these are a few I would go for. These can be found on Google or Jeeves. Example of both breeds Mastiff (top) Bullmastiff (bottom) Good Luck!
2. My Bullmastiff Charlie used to have garlic in his food every now and again to help repel fleas but I found paying more from a vet for Advantage, helped rather than a tub of that stuff which I now know can do more harm than good. There are various foods I do not feed my dogs, for the sake of there health. Some owners do not realise what they are feeding them..there are a couple who live next door to me and there Boxer is expecting puppies.....you know exactly what those dogs are being fed on and I can tell you its not healthy by looking at there stools.

6.
I was off having a look around another forum yester day and came across this link that can only be described as a real eye opener. It lists human foods and the effects that they can have on dogs which should really be taken seriously in my opinion. :o http://www.peteducation.com/category_summary.cfm?cls=2&cat=1939
Most human food can have an effect on dogs, meat like pork upsets them too. They are very sensitive to most foods, this is why owners should be careful what they feed!
7. Nea. You have done your bit and Im sure it was excellent advice to that p****
8. Kaleb I am so sorry for the loss of that dog who deserved better....being rehomed at 2 weeks is utterly irresponsible, the breeders should not be allowed to breed, at that age puppies should be with there mothers until 8 weeks. It makes me so mad  this thing about my children need a dog.....they should be a family pet that children should be bought up with not some toy they will get bored of within a few seconds. If only some people used there brains they were born with

breeders

What a lovely story Johnny :D The first time I saw a litter of pups of my favourite breed was at a Bullmastiff Kennel, we went there to have a look at there dogs with intention of getting a puppy, they had the one male and three females! Luck was in for us really because the breeders had the type we were looking for plus a red male puppy. When she showed us him, my heart sank....he was the most adorable little Bully pup I had ever seen...we stood by the pen while she went in and picked him up.....she passed him over to me, he was so soft and cuddly...no doubt he would be the one we would be taking home. I checked him all over for any lumps, checked is teeth etc..that was funny trying to open his mouth lol, the only fault he had was a black tail and a white tip on his toe.....but she did mention that as he grows it might fade...well she wasn't wrong there.....anyway she put him back in his pen with his sisters while we walked around the kennels.....I could have taken all those dogs home, I was so in love with them. On the way passed the puppy pen, we noticed the little male climbing up the mesh to get at us....awww I just wanted to take him there and then. We did end up putting a deposit on him because I had heard many nice words said about this kennel and that the breeder was very well known in the show ring with many champions in her line.....this wasn't the reason we decided to have one of there pups, basically there type just caught my eye....you know how it is, you see something you like and wayyy hey you just got to have it, well thats how it was with our little Charlie. The waiting seem to take ages, we had to wait a couple of weeks for the bank to cash the money, well it came round and there we were back at the kennel once again where our precious little bundle of fun was waiting and believe me he was.....another couple were there to pick up a female, there girl walked over to them and climbed up the mesh but our boy just lay there in the shade obviously waiting for us to appear....we could see from the caravan what he was doing, we went outside and when he spotted us he looked so happy and excited to see us, he was literally trying to get through the mesh lol....his little tail wagging and licks to our fingers awwww....so it does go to show that you don't pick your pups they choose you :D
10. Angelboddy. Im sure he knows how special she is, men don't seem to say anything..they tend to keep things to themselves
11. Hiya. I have washed my dogs Nylon Collors and Leashes in the washer without any problem, you might see some color in the water but this is nothing to worry about....has long as the water isn't boiling (as to shrink them) lol you should be ok.
12. Awwwww Angelboddy, Nostaligia is more than a good baby dog, she is a Gem to be doing that, especially around an infant, Oh you must be so so proud of her :D What A Little  you have
13. Hi Top Dog. I already knew what breed it was on your avatar, I just wondered if you did :D Yes Im from Dudley, not that far from Birmingham
14. Abker I am sure you will see the benefits of doing this, it might not be easy at first has they have never had there own room....so there might be some barking and whining, if this happens either ignore them or say NO....this is what I have always used with my dogs and it does work. I can leave my dogs in there rooms withour any barking or crying at night or when we leave, we also never make any fuss of them because then they will know we are going out which can encourage dogs to be naughty chewing things etc, instead we reward them with plenty of it when we return. Given plenty of toys, a clean bowl of fresh water and a clean soft bed should make them happy...leaving a radio on in another room might make them both relax when you go out. At feeding time...in there own rooms....whoever was there first should only be allowed to eat when you say so. Charlie is the first to eat his even though he was the last one in the house, this is because Penny is very greedy and will finish hers before anyone else has started and tries to steal some of there's, getting her to sit and wait is not easy at times either. However once Charlie has nearly finished his, only then Penny is allowed her food! If you try this with your dogs they will eventually learn to sit and wait without having to be told...this is showing them that you are top dog..they must always know that they are at the bottom, you above them. Charlie knows I am his master and that he is below the other two, but literally Patch is top dog over them both, he was here first, Penny is next....she has tried to be above Patch on occasions though but it doesn't work. GOOD LUCK!
15. I love and own a Bullmastiff, can't get enough of the breed...we just don't have the room for anymore dogs at the moment, especially with a baby on the way. My next would be the Boxer....hoping for a red male for my next dog, and female fawn Bullmastiff of course :D Charlie (our Bullmastiff) taken in July last year.
16. I see German Shepherd, possible Labrador....so adorable :D
17. Top Dog. Is that a Bullmastiff I see as your avatar ?
18. THIS WAS MINE: Sent to this prick! People like you are those who cause an uproar when it comes to talk about certain breeds of dogs.....obviously you don't own any of those breeds mentioned or any other type of large breed...otherwise you would not be saying what your saying now. Any dog can be a killer if not bought up properly, socialised, trained etc..whether large or small, they can all do damage, thats why it is the owners responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen. Bairing in mind many dogs that have attacked are either fighting dogs or from a backyard breeder, those are the bastards that should be banned not the dogs. There are many well known experienced breeders out there who only want the best for there dogs, those are the ones who care so much about there health and needs etc not the gaining. There are many with children who have been bought up with there dogs and never had a problem because they do the responsible thing like keeping an eye on them both at all times, they are never left alone together..which is one of the problems with irresponsible people today, it doesn't matter how well the dog as known the child..they should never ever be left alone. Before you start putting the breeds down, think of all the irresponsible owners around the world who don't know the first thing about bringing a dog up, for instance those who lock there dogs up in cages be teased and those who get abused because of ignorence and stupidity. Read all the sad stories over the net of what sick, evil people do to our dogs, I bet you will find more than dog attacks.
19. Courtnek. I am so pleased that everything has gone ok...I told you it would :D Im sure your little sweetie will be back to normal in no time hun  Keep us posted with her progress.
20. OMG Can't the press get anything right, first they say the baby was mauled..next the baby was found lying on the floor with the swing knocked over. It is possible the dog freaked out and ran thinking he would get the blame, if Charlie knocks anything over he looks to the floor or runs..he knows something wasn't right there...and as for leaving dogs with children whether small, medium or large, it should not be allowed. The baby should have been with his mom when she spoke to the neighbour not left unattended, its not just dogs that are a danger to children but household things can do harm. Some people just don't think what will happen, there mind is elsewhere instead of on there child. My dogs are outside quite often while the weather is warm and inside (kitchen) when its not especially if we have visitors, the last thing I want is dogs running round when the baby is born......so if its a nice day the dogs will be in the garden with the door locked so our nieces and nephews can't let them in....if its not a nice day and the dogs are in the kitchen......then whoevers child lets them out....there parents will get a bollocking from us for not controlling them. There will be so much going on, they won't realise the dogs are lose....it will be there last visit thats for sure!! The dogs are great when just us but if anyone visits....its chaotic! I just hope I dont get all the fuss from the family, they haven't bothered before.... Richard and myself spoke about this. His family don't seem keen on me because I am quiet and always have been (there will never be any change there) but he knows I wont tolerate any fuss off anyone when the baby is born including my own family who only want to know me when ranting on about someone. My mom doesnt even ask how I am when she phones me, just talks about whats been going on up her road  I know the bit mentioned isn't part of this but I wanted to get that off my chest.
21. RottnPitt. The good owners make the best pets :D

23. OMG :D Snow White is beautiful (what an angel) :D CONGRATULATIONS Yes I love that fawn ear too awwww bless
24. My next door neighbour has 2 Boxers, Milly the female is brindle and Jake the male is white...both were rescue dogs. She spoke to me a while ago about allowing Milly to have a litter, which I thought then.....what an irresponsible owner you are if you allow that to happen....she as been waiting for this to go ahead for months, well recently I looked out the bedroom window and saw Milly in the garden...there she was with her teats hanging and belly like a balloon. I thought to myself poor girl she will have know idea if her puppies will ever go to decent homes with the love and care they will need. I am sure they will because they do love there dogs but that isnt the point.....its uncaring of them to allow it to happen in the first place, as there are so many uwanted dogs already in this world, but unless the owners have books about breeding and know how much hard work that as to go into the care of the mother and puppies whether there pets or show dogs. I can't see that happening, she having time off work to be with them....well we will see. I do know that whatever they feed the dogs must be crap....there stools are always lose, where as our dogs are solid. Milly should be fed on a good nutrient food now not crap she is having now...honestly some people think they know it all. Looking in my local paper today I was disgusted to see 5 week old Boxers ready for homes, obviously these idiots are doing it for money...the female is
