I see nothing wrong with this provided: 1. They want the dog 2. The dog will be happy living with them 3. You can/will take the dog back should the need arise 4. You can 'survive' without this dog in your house. 5. You use caution should you decide on getting another dog to 'replace' him, just in case #3 kicks in

Well for you picky folk who wanted a 'sample' or some indication of what you would get for you bucks, here is a sample registration form. Please note this is a work in progress and changes may be made at any time without prior notification to you. If you have questions or comments about this form, feel free to send them to the President or Vice President. Most likely they will be ignored but go on and send them anyway. Also note that the O-FFICIAL form will be stamped with an O-FFICIAL seal consisting of my dogs pawprint after they've been running in the mud. I'm thinking it's also high time you 'armed' yourself, perhaps a water pistol? Take it with you when you take Goo out in case this dog comes running at you again. Besides water, are there non toxic substances that could be used to perhaps deter this dog? I'm thinking vinegar but I will say up front I am not positive, I would not want to actually blind the dog but certainly give him a reason to back off and slink home. Plus don't want to give those people any excuse to accuse you of harming their dog even though he's clearly on your property. Anyone know if vinegar would cause lasting harm or of any other liquids that would be obnoxious but not really harmful? Just an idea...
We all do what we do to keep our dogs healthy and us happy.
Yes Hobbit, I agree and that was my point as well. I just never got around to actually making a point. 8) So the dog gets a healthy diet and we get an ulcer over worrying about their diet and first chance dog gets it eats some other animals poop. Or something thats been dead for two weeks in the woods.
I think that we should also register mixed breeds.
Now Sasha, mixed breeds is so, so, PASSE. ANY dog can be a WHATCHAMACALLIT. I guess we could have a separate category for WHATCHAMACALLIT-POOS Why not, good marketing strategy there Sasha! After all, we just want their money!

If she is physically sound, you could 'dabble' in agility right in your own backyard. If this is something you are interested in of course. Start her jumping education by just placing poles on the ground and having walk over them. One good book on agility is: Agility, The Fun Sport For All Dogs by Jane Simmons-Moake. Do the two dogs get along? Perhaps you could teach her a silly trick like take a bow or play dead just for fun. Perhaps she will eventually learn that playing is not only allowed here but encouraged! Perhaps she just wants a cuddle and to be told how pretty she is and what a good girl she is.

The 'food' discussion always gets me just a bit riled. I think we know more and worry more about whats in the dogs food than we do about whats in our own food or the food our kids eat. Really I do. Don't misunderstand me, I too want to feed my dogs a healthy diet. Then the little princess Candy helps herself to the cat box. sigh.... Brittany will eat just about ANYTHING, veggies, fruits, whatever. Jesse was on science diet for a number of years and appeared to be quite fine with it, will it bring on cancer in his later years? If he DOES get any type of cancer, I cannot see being able to say, it was the Science Diet. Canidae was highly recommended as a premium food, well it gave 2 of my dogs poop that was very close to the runs. Made all of them go more frequently. Heck there really is not a point to this little ramble, it just bothers me that some people feel so guilty because they are hearing that the food they are feeding is crap. Maybe it is, maybe some dogs do really well on crap. Maybe some dogs need a higher quality crap.

Oh and Duck is SUCH a pretty girl! She looks like she's happy and having a great time. I would not mistake her for a 3 month old based on the photos. I love the front paws crossed photo, she will grow into those paws, don't you worry!
-
Jesse was VERY thin well past his 2 year mark, as long as Duck is otherwise healthy I would not worry TOO much over her being a slender girl. Could be genetics, could be her metabolism.

Make sure first that they are truly mats not just a bit of mud balled up in the hair. If it's mud, might be able to wash it out. If it's hair matted, if her feet are dry, try rubbing a bit of cornstarch gently into the matted area, then see if you can use a comb to separate the hairs. The cornstarch should make the hair just a bit slippery and easier to work with. Jesse has never had mats between his toes, in fact I've been lucky with him as he rarely gets any mats. I do cut the hair between his toes now and then when it gets really long and thick. It's not easy and he hates it so it takes time and LOTS of patience. You do have to be very careful not to cut the skin or stab the dog with the scissors, they tend to not care for that. You would probably want to break it down, try to clip one mat out, then stop and relax. Having treats nearby will help! If Hazel is good about it and you are staying calm, might be able to do one foot then stop and take a break. Of course you need small scissors, not big ole kitchen shears.

Whew Gigi! I was trying to find a photo so I could guess at the dog mentioned but you found them first! Isn't that an American Bulldog?

Dog Education Seminar Item 12 - Dogs teach us to pick up our things and put them away. Item 13 - Dogs make it so we must buy new things when Item 12 is ignored 8)

I know you are Gigi, cause you are a person WHO CARES! Thank DOG for people like you!
Dusty can't go cuz he still hasn't been to the vet for his bowls. They weren't sure if they were going to find a home for him or put him down, that's why he hasn't been treated yet.
Well golly I'm liking these people more and more...NOT! Just let the old dog suffer a bit before his fate is decided.
-
Good work Gigi, Dusty may well owe his life to you. There is NO reason, NO circumstance, NO change in my life that would make me voluntarily give up ANY of my dogs. There is NO excuse for the people giving up Dusty. I'd feel a wee bit different if they planned to keep him or have him cared for as long as it took to find him a home but to say he's gotta be gone by XXX or he's dead. shaking my head in disgust while ADMIRING GIGI for stepping in and saving this dogs life!

Thats the version I have too, perhaps the company firewall? I will try to view it at home.

I get a Windows Media Player Error Cannot Play Back the Video Stream: no suitable decompressor could be found. Dang, I wanted to see and also learn how to do this myself
Poor 7 is gonna think we are all a bunch of freaks
You saying we're not? 8) Welcome 7!

Thank you, that makes MUCH more sense to me.
Personally I would not consider any dog, that had been "made" mean, abused.
Oh really. Considering the methods that are used to make these dogs mean how can you possibly NOT consider them abused? I'd really like you to explain your rational here.
