1. Most of u know about my dog Cinco and I'm wanting to train him to walk nice on leash. He's already learn'd the basics such as "heal" and in the case when he gets excited he's learnded "hush" or "quite" so how would i get him to walk nicely?
2. huh? I don't think he;s ugly if thats whet ur asking
3. if they'r are both the same gender some dogs don't like dogs of the same gender. Thats how Cinco is but it's only certain males.
4.
desertlady - My husband is a great dog fanatic. He missed about 3 hours of work over this and considered it well worth it. He was happy it worked out well. Of course....there are drawbacks being married to a guy who is nuts about dogs. Hehehe...this is a guy who keeps an old hatchback honda around our place for the sole purpose of giving the dogs rides in our big yard. It's a terrible eyesore, but I have a feeling it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Except around in great loops, horn honking, dog heads hanging out the rear windows in our yard.... Yep, he's a keeper all right! Maybe your hubbie just hates to see you get disappointed?
So is my dad cuz 2 times he caught our neighbors dog when he was out running the neighborhood....when they weren't home  and devoted 2 hours atleast to him making sure he was fed, watered and making sure he had no visible injuries.
5.
He's hanging in there - sleeps alot, but he does still get up and bark at the door/windows (a wonderful habit Bailey taught him  ) he still eats, but not as much and I can tell it hurts :( I can see that the lump is bigger and his eye on that side doesnt open as far as the other side.... I really wish he could tell us how he feels, because I really dont want him to suffer and he's one of those "strong, silent" types and Im afraid we won't know its time until he's really hurting bad
Aww bailysmom I'm so sorry I've lost 2 dogs in my life we put 1 to sleep cuz he was old and everything in him was going including vision. He told us it was his time when he got out 1 morning and went to our neighbors and sat on their porch waiting to come in. Then we were kinda forced to give up our lab/pitbull mix cuz of my rotten friend.
6. What about some type of hound?
7. Well if it's outside they don't bark much except for if the neighbor dogs get them going but then we just yell there names and they stop
8.
I loved this and found it very interesting. I personally prefer the terms mutt or heinz-57 over non-purebred or mixed breed.
I use heinz 57 but we only used it on Max cuz the only breed that the vet could point out was what the mother was and that was pekaneeze and the dad was a mutt.
9. We also lied when we had Blacky our lab/pit mix and said he was pure lab
10. Well sometimes shelters get dogs that they can't tell what mixes they are so they come up with a mix they think the dog is.
11. When we had Max he was a fox terrier with a bunch of little breeds and people asked what he was and we told them he was a pekaneeze(sp?) which he had some in him somewhere
12.
The pups from my last litter cost about $130 au dollars to do and our vets go on size for a Lab its around $180 and its normally more for girls than boys. Laser surg sound like alot of money but I guess if you feel more comfortable with it and can afford it then go with it. On another note if shopping around for a better deal beware if it sounds to good to be true, it often is. We had one of our dogs done years ago where the vet was about $20 cheaper It ended up costing us around $100 more plus time and effet to clear up golden staf.
Ours was done by our vet
13. maybe it was a mix with pit and ambull?
14. Dahlila's spay was only like $65 and that was with the $5 dollar teeth removal cuz she had 2 extra teeth. Plus they threw in a free nail clipping. Our vet also varies her prices based on gender or size of dog.
15. We don't have a dog park. We have a comunity park and dogs are allowed to walk the trails(Leashed that is)
16. Well my dogs when they're just barking at me and parents and eachother it's just a bark but when something happens that they know shouldn't be happening for example a strange dog wonders into the yard it'll be a bark with a growl mixed in there with the bark.
17. idk no about there but in the us if u don't give the authorites permissin to enter ur house they can't go ne further then ur front yard.
18.
I am a pit bull lover but for some reason It says the site is down due to come kind of transfer could someone some this up for me or send it to me through a PM ?
I pmed u the link
19.
that depends. The HS here SUX. They dont really seem to care about the animals and where they go. All you have to do is walk in, pick out a dog(or two or three or four or however many you want) pay the money and you get the dogs(or cats) that's really sad, cause they dont spay/neuter or vaccinate or anything. with rescues, you have to fill out an adoption application, have it approved, pick out a dog you like, they see if it suits you, have a home check, and then you get the dog(AFTER the dog has been vet checked, spay/neutered and vaccinated). but then again there are HS's that screen the adoptees, they vaccinate the dogs, they spay/neutere, and they really care. and there are rescues that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot poll. and generally HS's are run by the government and rescues are run solely by donations
That kinda sounds like 1 here we took the time to get to know 1 dog there a few months ago but never adopted it. 1-cuz I reminded my parents of a mistake that I was victim of a HAWS(the hs) cuz they failed to mention it was distemper + or however they get diagnosed(I was at school when my parents took him to the vet thinking he had some kind of infection making him vicouse towards everyone that so much as just walked by him) and what he did to me was the last straw for them well neway they found out and told me he had distemper(my dad had to write the school a letter just so they'd stop questing wether the dog really caused the bruise over my eye he did it but idk how all i remember is going downstairs and all of a sudden he runs in from outside and go flying onto the concrete floor but positive it was him cuz he was snarling and everything)so we took him back to the HS and when we got him they said if theres a problem within the 1st 6 months they'd refund him well it was 5 and no refund. 2-Volunteers are verry rude there they have a dog in there possesion for a day and they think they no it. with all that said my dad eventualy pretty much said F*** this place lets but he just said lets go and left out the f part.
20.
Don't worry - just chalk it up to not knowing - next time, you'll recognize that behavior and know what to do ;) One night Ilsa wouldn't stop pacing. She must've been about 8 months odl or so. I kept trying to get her to calm down, but to no avail. I had noiced extra police activity in the neighborhood but I didn't make any connection. Suddenly, Ilsa stood stock still and froze for about 10 seconds. She then quietly trotted to the back door and stood there - watching silently - about five feet away from the door. I went into the kitchen to see what was up... and that's when I heard the back deck creak - someone was on our deck! I was amazed that Ilsa was still silent but watching the door intently. Seconds later, the doorknob jiggled, and Ilsa sprang into action. She started roaring (which is a noise that will chill you to the bone - I've only heard it a couple times, and only from Dobes) and literally hit the door with her body. I heard footsteps running off the porch andinto the night. I was shaking by that time, and made sure to reward Ilsa right away. She had actually cracked the door with the impact - and it was a 2.5" thick solid oak door! Later I found out that a man was caught in about a block away from my house - he'd stabbed his girlfriend that night... now I don't know if the person on our deck was the murderer, but IMO Ilsa did her job. Not to mention the time she cornered an intruder at five months of age. True, the intruder was just a young teenager, but still - that takes guys for a five month old puppy to do that! (Especially since she's from show lines, not working lines!)
We had a similar situation when we had Blacky. My dad had a boat at the time that he had parked in our driveway just until he could get time to clear some space in the garage (storage prices at the time were sky high) well 1 night Blacky was outside in the backyard when these 2 guys came walking up our driveway and were looking at the boat like they wanted to steal something (my dad had just replaced the radio system in it) and Blacky could see them from his pen cuz it was next to the gate and since it was dark outside(guessing around 8:00) and Blacky was solid black except for a white spot on his chest but u could barely see it hence the name. Well he must have seen them reach for something and started barking no barking and snarling and he somehow managed to brake the lock off the pen and came to backdoor my mom told me to stay in the living room while she went to let him in. My dad came home shortly afterward and saw the dent in the door but we told him what happened and he went to check if nething was taken and rewarded Blacky. But a few weeks later the same guys came back and Blacky was inside and stole moms bike. There was also an incident where some whako was peeking into my friends oldest sisters room in the middle of the night and her mom saw him and he had a black dog and the police where asking every1 in the neighborhood that they saw with a black dog and she even came to the house telling us to make sure Blacky's inside at night cuz for all she knew it could have been some1 that snuck some1's dog away from the owners house(Blacky was locked up tight in the house in the living room with the doors locked) But when we 1st moved to our current house long after Blacky's time with us we had our driveway an pathways both front and back cemented and the night we got it cemented mom and dad where out and it was just Dahlila and I home and it was very quite all of a sudden I here footsteps in the backyard and Dahlilas hiding under the coffee table at 1st I thought it was the guy who did the job comeing to see how it's drying but then I thought he'd call 1st and him of all people should no not to walk on it yet speaciely since it wasn't 48 hrs yet! My parents came home and saw me on the couch with the cordless phone in my hands and every light in the house was on and the radio and tv in the living room were all on. I told them but we had to wait till morning to see the damage. Then a few days later we got into my moms car and the glove box was opened we figured no biggie dad was just in it well that afternoon a cop comes to our door and says there have been a number of car robberies and Dahlila didn't make a noise! then just a few days ago the dogs were outside and my mom just brought Cinco in and was bringing Dahlila in when these guys come up and start talking to her and wouldn't let her bring Dahlila in and they were going on about how they used to have a lot of dogs.
Had something a bit like that happen last night, just not serious. I was letting Blue out and he started barking and growling--very rare. He's deaf, so I touched his back to get his attention and said "shhh" (it was 2:30am, didn't want him to wake up neighbors and yes, I still talk to him). Well, out of the corner of my eye I saw a man walking past our house. I live in a small town, people don't go walking down the street at that hour. Period. It spooked me--some of you know about a bad experience I had. I would have been frozen w/fear had it not been for him. The guy probably meant no harm, but I'm so thankful for that big show Blue put on.
21. We put my dog max down b4 he got deaf cuz he was old and everything was going including sight(figured that out cuz 1 time he got out and went to our neighbors house thinking it was his) and hearing(usually responded right away but slowly started taking him awhile to figure out we were trying to get his attention) and he had arthritous in his hind legs.
