  1. Generally I agree with you, but it is still helpful to pool resources and learn from others experince.
  2. What a talented pooch!
  3. J. Lo did have a very cute pit bull in that video but she was once evicted from an apartment because she left a chihuahua alone for a few days in it. She made no arrangements to have it taken care of. I still feel a little skeptical when I hear of her "love" for animals.
  4. Oops, that post above was from me. I forgot to log in!
  5. Ugh, those kids are going to be scarred forever. How could anyone do that?
  6. Poor little guys...
  7. It sounds like a very confused and insecure dog. I have to say that if she has temperment issues, I really don't think your neighbor should be breeding her. Recommend professional help to these people before someone really gets hurt. These types of situations only seem to escalate...
  8. PETA people are nuts. Dogs are not wild animals! Their natural environment is literally in a house being loved by people. You can't tell me that strays are happier and healthier than dogs that have loving homes. When a wild animal is kept as a pet, it rarely works out and it is obvious. People try to keep monkeys, squirrels, and all kinds of wild animals and it is hardly ever a good situation for anybody. But keeping dogs and cats as pets works out great! That should be enough proof for anyone that dogs are companion animals that need to be around people in order to thrive.
  9. I agree with Kat. You have had Dakota for a year and yours is basically the only home he's known. I think it is possible that the reason he was having accidents at your Dad's house was because he was upset at being moved around. And it is not usually a good idea to make a snap decision about getting another dog. Think all aspects of the decision over next time.
  10. Mutts4me, we kind of did that with Buck. I walked him around the boundary and told him no when he wanted to go past it. It works pretty well. He stays in our yard except to go say hi to the neighbor dog (which is ok with the neighbor) than he comes back to our yard. The neighbor dog is pretty old and won't play with Buck so he just comes back after a quick hello :-) Dogs are so smart!
  11. You could keep her on a leash while outside until she is very good at coming when you call her. If your neighbors don't want her in their yard you really need to keep her out. If she'll run into your neighbors yard she could run into the road also. She'll also learn her boundaries better if she is never allowed to run over there.
  12. Ugh, what a hassle. When we went to get Buck licensed they wanted to fine us for licensing and vaccinating him late because he was older than 3 months. We found him in the woods of Kentucky! We didn't even know he existed when he was 3 months old! That was really annoying. I hope you get the rabies thing all straightened out soon! All that red tape is no fun at all :-?
  13. No Kidding! Weddings are no fun at all :D Now you have a good excuse to blow it off! You should be thanking Phoenix
  14. exactly, you have to stand up for what's right all the time, not just when it is effecting you personally.
  15. What a nice looking dog!
  16. Glad to hear the pups have arrived and are healthy :) what kind of dogs did you say these were?
  17. well that is wonderful! :D
  18. Yay!! I love Ellen :-) Frankie is good on Malcolm in the Middle too! I'm glad they both gave pit bulls some positive press. Hopefully it will help the breed's reputation
  19. I personally don't like docking tails either.
  20. If you have some doubt about this, read the post by marebear about what happened when her sister left a new mom and pup alone for 15 hours! If you absolutely can't be there, make sure someone responsible is.
  21. Oh, I hope Baby can find a home! If I could take her I would, but I can't have another dog. I would definately report your sister to animal control. She should not under any circumstances be allowed to have more puppies if she is going to be completely irresponsible. Tell her that unless she spays those bulldogs, you will report her to animal control. That gives her a way out. And insist on proof from the vet that they were indeed spayed and in good health. Also, did she ever take Baby to the vet like she said she would?
  22.   I don't understand why they would be in such a hurry to euthanize a dog that has a home all set up for him
  23. But the dog has been claimed... Can they do that? I think I read somewhere in the other posting that they had transfered money over for the dog.
  24. You said you would be gone for 3 days? So you must need somebody to come over and let Phoenix out. Can you have them just stay there all the time while you are gone? I've never had a dog that had puppies but it doesn't seem like a good idea to leave them alone. Especially if she is going to deliver while you are gone. Could you drive seperate and come home early from the wedding?
  25. I would just reward him and praise him like crazy when he does what you ask. Other than that, I don't know what else you would do. I mean, for eleven years you haven't asked him to do anything extra, I don't know if you can expect him to be all excited about learning new things at this point. He's not used to it.
