If he has Lab in him, he will have a stubborn streak  Let him be an old dog and retire gracefully. if he knows the basics then take him as he is.

Good point with ref to marebear's post. Shows how disaster can strike.

It sounds like Sassy is on the right track, but another dog on her territory, most dogs would react the same.

Hopefully this wee guy will get a home with his adorable looks.

Isn't it so sad that in this day and age with technology and drugs, asswangs still use elastic bands as a cheap way to dock tails. Give Rio a hug from this end too  I personally am against tail docking (this will spark a big debate  ), unless that dogs tail must be removed for medical or working safety reasons. However the vets where I work at, we dock tails. We only do this because if we don't, someone else will and that someone is likely to be down a back alley. You wouldn't believe the botched up docked tails we get in...

It's a miracle - why do they help us?

It truly is amazing. Animals are so misunderstood really even by those who think they know about a species. -
Its great to hear someone who loves her new friend :D

Please PLEASE ensure that you have plans in place to have your bitch looked after. You can NOT leave a dog for days on end with no care, especially if she has just whelped, and please bear in mind she may be late. Dogs are not exact!! Leaving the pups not only puts them at risk but also your bitch. Think of her and put plans in place, not yourself.

*hug* mare no one here is labelling you like your sister, so don't worry. You know your sister is irresponsible and buying those pups at that price proves it. As far as the dead pup goes, Mum probably got peeved..I'm not surprised after being cooped up for that length of time. I know its difficult for you being her sister but I'm quite sure you have told her shortly what a 1st class prat she is and has been. The next stage in the game is trying to find Baby the Rotti bitch a good home, and you need to do your duty to animals and report your sister. Its not easy and a few years ago I had to report a close friend as her horse was so neglected along with her GSD. We are with you here every step of the way, so please don't forget that matey

Exactly K, any gastrintestinal worms are bad news especially for young puppies and a cough is characteristic as in the parasite lifecycle the juveniles migrate to the trachea and are coughed up and swallowed. Some breeders don't bother worming their bitch when she is pregnant therefore the worms are passed to the pups.

Glad to hear the wee cat got a home

Today Meg and I went to our first show handling competition, since flukily qualifying for the triathlon at Crufts which involves show handling obedience and agility. I thought we should have a bit of experience really. Meg was a wee dream. She still thinks I'm a buck eejit for standing her and gives me a look that says "this is weird Mum but if you want to do it then I'll go along with you". She stood so nicely and her movements were very fluent. It came to the placings and in a class of 14 other dogs she was placed 1st! I'm so delighted!! The judge was a guy from England and said that I have a great rapport with her and that she gave back to me what I gave to her, which made him very happy as that was what he was looking for today. I told him that I have absolutely no experience in show-handling after the comp and he was so surprised and said that I was natural and aided with a dog that was very willing to please. Meg just goes along with whatever her idiot Mum wants to do lol!

Is the puppy vaccinated? A trip to the vet sounds in order, you can't take chances with young pups.

some people....this makes me very angry...

That enrages me! She should have been shot..not that beautiful wolf :2gunfire: I hate seeing innocent animals being reduced to nothing especially rare animals..too many humans..why wasn't she shot.. -
I have to say Abs if you are going to do competitive agility you will be in all weather. Its definitely best to practice in all weathers as long as its safe. Being N.Ireland we always have rain so Meg is well used to it but in heavy rain I don't go as fast with her (not easy since shes faster than me :P ). Dogs don't slip as much as we do. their paws hold a lot more traction on wet grass than us in trainers . (on that note get yourself a pair of football studs for when the weather is icky). I couldn't be without mine!
