1. aww the pair of you have each other which is most important. She will gradually heal Zoe, just like you she needs time and in the mean time just be there for her but keep her stimulated with plenty of walking and mental exercises. *hugs*
2. LOL as long as Beta doesn't whisper in Jesse's ear that he should have higher standards for accepting food  Good for you keeping him mentally stimulated; I love seeing owners working with their dogs :D
3. It was a great happy end but yeah some owners need educated
4. Lol looked at the stacker, and yeah its ok, but for free standing dogs it would be a little more difficult me thinks!
5. What on earth is a stacker :-? Having only recently been involved in the world of show handling, I stand Meg by using the lead as a control. First she wil be in a normal free stand then I will find a front paw that looks good, and work with the other leg to get the misaligned paw into position. The lead is operated to the opposite paw you want to move and remains tight to hold the position. after that you sort the back legs out and tilt the head depending on your breed. Not as easy as it looks I can tell you! I have certainly learned that.
6. As a kid I was always reaching out to stray dogs or dogs out walking with their owners. I went to a nursery school where there was a big GSD called Sheba who belonged to the caretaker and used to run up and hug her when I was three. I learnt to walk holding onto my Nanny and Papa's Lab x (also called Sheba lol). I walked all the neighbourhood dogs starting when I was about 8 asking if I could take them for a walk. The first one I ever walked was a Rough Collie called Yoyo who was a brilliant dog :D . After that when I was about 11 we got our first family dog "Zoe" the Golden retriever who is still mad, then I started to handle Meg when I was 15/16 and it has been Meg that increased my real passion for dogs and taken me to the dizzying heights of Crufts
7. I will now add it to my favourites so I don't lose it again! Thanks! :D
8. Yesterday i discovered via a url on Dogo another doggy forum (not disowning Dogo of course not  ), but my computer lost its history when we had a power cut yesterday. It is a proboards forum maybe called Dogden or something similar?
9. If its to be sound with kids, then a Springer. Cockers are too unpredictable and welsh springers are too stand-offish.
10. hehe we call the smoothies smooth haired collies of course :P
11. Euthanasia would be too painless.. how about shock treatment, lashing with a chain, and .. I'm sure you lot here have a lot more ideas  :evilbat:
12. I have only heard of this witch and would love to see these documentaries but can't with not living in the states. She should be banned from the world of animals
13. great to see you back again Crested :D
14. ooh I love watching Lassie. I think actually Lassie was what started my love for dogs. I always was up on a sunday morning to watch her on bbc2 when I was a wee nipper :P On the Collie subject you Americans say Collie and I immediately think Border Collie. Over here when we say Collie we mean a Border, and say Rough collie for a "lassie type collie". I like roughs too and have seen a few doing agility very gracefully, and one doing obedience, but what work there would be in that coat!
15. If you can take a photo we can help more, but in the mean time take the puppy to the vet and get him vaccinated and treated for worms if you are planning on keeping him; that is of utmost importance before worrying about what he is
16. Aww poor little Bella. If she is very sensitive it sounds like she has ripped out the nail and it is hanging by a thread. She will be better off seeing the vet when you can get her and most likely the nail will be removed, which will ease her of the pain. In the mean time you have done good covering it and there really isn't anything else you can do except give her a quarter of a panadol tablet. The vet will also likely give her oxytetracycline or similar to ensure no infection progresses. Good luck and keep us posted
17. ok so you all knew it before but its been proved now  This morning I got up bright n breezy and Meg and I went up to the agility field for a wee bit of training, since a lot of the snow has thawed. At the end of our wee session, I called her to jump up in the car. She wouldn't come and kept looking at me and i'm thinking what the frick is she playing at. I called again and she came towards me running then ran back again. I shouted Come ON Meg lets go NOW firmly and she lay down. At this point it was starting to come down with sleet and I wasn't prepared to get soaked, so I went over to her and she got up and ran round the side of the portacabin where we store things. I went after her ready to strangle her for messing about and there was my mobile sitting on a rock. She is definitely a smarter cookie than me! If she could talk I bet she would say something like "duh Mum you would forget your head if I wasn't here"
18. I really do hope that you can talk her out of it and explain the hard facts of cross breeding and unwanted puppies to her.
19. thats why you take lots of pics as he grows up so you can look back on those and remember how ickle he was  You have a dog to be proud of Nea. He is a really stunning handsome boy who I just adore seeing photos of :D Oh yeah on the leg lifting thing, I've always had bitches but Meg cocked her leg at 5 months copying the boys hehe!
20. That would depend on how you would bring the dog up. Yorkies that I have known tend to be very demanding, nippy and possessive with a typical terrier spirit. Certainly supervision would be required as with any other dog, but I wouldn't call a Yorkie a childs dog. They tend to enjoy older peoples company and easily dominate kids.
21. Indeed yes theres always a change in times, but it has been said in the doggy circles that excessive breeding is still evident from her KC registrations. Who to believe I don't know, but it certainly has rocked and shocked the doggy world.
22. Oh goodness Zoe, I am so so sorry to hear this sad news. What happened? *hugs to you*
23. What do you think of this folks: (copied from the Times) Top Crufts judge resigns over puppy farm smears By Valerie Elliott, Countryside Editor THE chairman of Crufts and his wife have both been forced out of the Kennel Club after a hate campaign which has undermined this year's championship show. Peter Mann and his wife, Joyce, who was to be this year's judge of Best in Show, have resigned from their prestigious posts after anonymous accusations that Mrs Mann was involved in "puppy farming" more than 30 years ago. The episode has rocked the close world of competitive dog shows before the 113th Crufts championship show in March. Senior Kennel Club figures have no idea who is behind the skulduggery but they accept that the canine world is riddled with rivalries. The charges were circulated in an unattributable press release sent to British dog magazines and senior members of the Kennel Club. The couple were also bombarded with abusive phone calls and hate mail. This campaign started just over two weeks ago after someone scoured Kennel Club documents to research Mrs Mann's record as a breeder of Yorkshire terriers in the late 1960s and early 1970s. An entry in the club's Breed Records Supplement, which lists all new pedigree dog registrations, found that in 1971 alone Mrs Mann registered 23 litters of 126 puppies and that she sold some of the dogs to traders. The Kennel Club confirmed yesterday that both had resigned their posts. A spokeswoman said there was no dispute about the breeding records but she makes clear that Mrs Mann, who owned several bitches at the time, did nothing unlawful. It was common then for breeders to sell some puppies to dealers and many pedigree dogs were bought at pet shops. Today commercial puppy farming is considered unethical and there are laws to prevent it. The Manns, a retired couple from Edinburgh, were at their house last night but wished to make no comment." Now to me this says a form of puppy farming registering that number of dogs in a single year  Frankly my opinion is that Crufts should be to promote responsible dog ownership and showing and show how a dog and handler can bond. This judge doesn't portray any of this and I am very glad that she will not be judging BIS.
24. That really is fantastic to survive all that time. The poor furbaby must have been so bewildered wondering why he was all alone that time, but a happy ending :D
25. Looks like a weird piece of agility equipment! Meg would jump on it but would choose the floor or my bed over that to sleep on!
