CHRISTMAS!!wat's on ur list? got any plans?
imported_Kat replied to Holz_Boomer's topic in Everything about dogs
ooh creme de menthe brings back baaaad memories of one night when I was about 17 and downed 12 choc pop shots in one night. The smell now makes my stomach churn :P -
Great pic :D One thing I noticed was that your jumps are way smaller than ours in the UK. What height do standard dogs jump there?

At the end of the day it is the various KC's and breed organisations that have the final influence. Docking and cropping will continue as long as it is permitted in the rules and kept "in fashion in the ring".

CHRISTMAS!!wat's on ur list? got any plans?
imported_Kat replied to Holz_Boomer's topic in Everything about dogs
My Mum is putting up our tree today much to the family's amusement, but she says she is busy any other sunday with working and going to the meatloaf concert (next week squueeeee)! Christmas this year for me will be very different. It will be my first ever christmas away from home, as on Christmas eve I'm flying over to the Netherlands to spend Christmas and New year with Sander :D and his family! It will be magical flying in on that day, I just can't wait! As far as pressies goes I've asked for dosh, because i need nothing more and it helps fund wee trips across to see my honey. I always get more things like clothes and perfume etc; my parents are way too good to us 4 girlies! As for Sander's pressie, I'm thinking of a DVD player, but I'm hopeless with technical things so have to drag my friend chris along with me  -
Oh what a great result! Go  od for you Sanvean for trying and succeeding

Paws crossed here, but make sure you can give a BC plenty of training from day one!

She certainly is a beauty girl. Before you start with advertising, take her to your vet and get her scanned. Chances are she could be microchipped if she appears to be a well looked after dog.

lol that was fantastic thanks! My first show was an obedience show and gee whizz the butterflies were reproducing alright in my stomach! With heel on lead I yanked my poor wee Meg the whole way round, and lost just about all points possible. When it came to heel oflead we lost nothing! Ended up 2nd that day and that just gave me the bug :D I've lost count now of how many shows we have done in 5 years!

Does Anyone Have Or Know Where I Can Get A....
imported_Kat replied to Duke_3's topic in Everything about dogs
I have 2 in my Obedience class and 3 in my agility class. They are extremely energetic and not like any other retriever breed. They prefer to be working than snoozing so you should certainly do agility/obedience/flyball if you get one. If you have done full research then go along to dog shows and talk to breeders. -
Kathy, Enjoy those days with Ruby as you have enjoyed every one of the days since you have had the pleasure of her company. Thoughts are with you *hug*

Sassy crossed the Rainbow Bridge today
imported_Kat replied to Sharpeigirl's topic in Rainbow Bridge
What can be said... You tried so hard and what you gave to Sassy was amazing. She will always be your Sassy lass forever in your heart, and remembered the way you loved and knew her. *big hugs and shared tears* Time heals. -
Star, he sounds bored! If he isn't licking at his wound then scrap the elizabethan collar. Most dogs are very good and don't bother too much with their wounds. The collar just adds to frustration as you can imagine from what we have seen in work. Jolly Zebra along and make sure he is stimulated loads with stuffed kongs, roasted dog bones etc. Also I know you have been told to crate him, but let him lie quietly with you in your room or in the living room while watching tv. Keep his spirits up

Oh shar I don't know what on earth to say to you. My thoughts are with you, and lets just see what the outcome from the vet is. *hugs*

It certainly does sound as though the change over with food is the cause. Just mix the puppy and adult food in equal proportions, then gradually reduce the puppy food so there is more adult dog food in the fraction. While he has a jippy tummy, kaolin and morphin is good stuff and will coat his stomach. As far as fluids go: ice cold water little and often. Dont allow free access to the water dish and don't continue to refill it. If the problem isn't resolved in a few days and there is blood in the diarrhoea then take her to the vet to rule out a choloform infection caused by bird droppings.

please, tell me what you think! (sorry, it's long!!)
imported_Kat replied to Peng1zrule's topic in Everything about dogs
The dog sounds as if she is insecure which I am guessing is due to both her upbringing family being afraid of her and also a hormonal effect. She sounds as though she doesn't know where her place is and dogs quite frequently if they are not stable and in an environment where they know their place in the "family pack" will resort to aggression to try and establish its own order. Dogs love stability, they are reluctant to change. This is your neighbours dog, not yours and your neighbour needs to deal with her. You should mention to her that it is time to call in an experienced animal behaviourist to try and help build a stable relationship between the dog and her owner. You have done your best truly, Good luck  -
Well just got a phone call to say that we are through to the final selections but will be advised in due course if we actually get onto the World champs obed team or inter-regional or both! Paws crossed and I'l update as soon as I get news. :D Crufts 2004 here we come!!

 You will always get uneducated twats that believe all they are fed from media.

I haven't heard of this at all Annush? BC's are extremely agile and as you know I'm sure are nimble and successful at agility. They certainly don't fail more than any other dog, they excel

GRRR!!!ALL I WANT IS A RABIES TAG!!!
imported_Kat replied to courtnek's topic in Everything about dogs
What a total pain  I have to get Meg vaccinated for rabies soon if she is going to hopefully travel to Netherlands with me next year with her pets passport. She has never before had it but I'm hoping that everything will be ok! -
Just to briefly say it is your responsibility to watch your pup and going back and forward freely to your neighbours is not smart. Your dog is only a pup but if she plays too rough and injures the kid you are liable.
-
She truly is beautiful...I just don't understand how you sister could get rid of her and buy 2 more dogs.
-
First off you have a responsibility to Dakota. Just because you dont like him doesn't give you right to go and get another dog then dump Dakota. To be blunt you do not have the right attitude for being a responsible dog owner.

Paws crossed that Baby will get a nice foster home and a forever home. You have done great mare

Glad to hear the pups are well but still there should be someone staying with the bitch. What if something happens in between the times when someone visits her? You can not take chances with young pups and I am also surprised that your vet is so lax in saying that they will be ok with just a look in now and again. Its a lot of work and bedding constantly needs changed, you must also make sure all pups are getting enough milk. The first few weeks are critical with pups and is the period when something will go wrong if it is going to occur.

Always great to hear positive publicity :D (My boyfriend is addicted to Malcolm in the middle!)
