Oh, Meehs, they are BEAUTIFUL!!! Where did you get the pics taken?
-
How awful for you!!!! There is nothing worse than not knowing. My daughter's friend (who is 10) just had the same thing happen to her little rat terrier/poodle cross. I know she is still heartbroken

How about a flea/tick collar??? You could paint it up, say it is some type of fashion statement!!!

OMG!!! I can't believe that someone thought he was up for adoption, it is VERY clear that he is your baby, and you'd be lost without him!! And, selling your saint, K?? How do people even think to do that? :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat: people in this world

Good luck, Devin!! How lucky he is to have a foster mommy that cares about him so much! :)

We tried crating Maya when we first got her, and she would cry, whine, and then have accidents - I think she was stressed, too. When we stayed w/my parents, we borrowed the cage they have for thier schnauzer. It works really well, she isn't nearly as stressed, because she can see out more. I also like it because it folds flat, and is really great for travelling.

After another day of working with her, now she does the paw on the nose, and most of her tricks I can have her do without verbal directions, just by a hand signal. Since she picks things up so fast and loves to learn, I was really thinking I'd like to get her in some specialized training. What do you think would be possible? Would agility be a possibility - there is a training area close to here, but I have NO idea what it is about - except what I've seen on TV! Thanks for any ideas!

I feel so bad for my baby-dog, what to do!
mommacat replied to Angelboddy's topic in Everything about dogs
Good luck!! Just keep giving her lots of gentle love (treats don't hurt, either!!) and she'll come around. My schnauzers (and my mom's, who I also groom) always acted mad for about 2 hours after a grooming, then they are fine again! -
I just had to share this with everyone. Maya is SO smart! She is 13 weeks old, and she can sit, shake, down, roll over, sit pretty(beg), up(on hind legs), and we are working on stay-get it (make her stay and throw a treat, then get it when I say), dance, and -thanks to Abker!!!- paw on the nose!! Now, if we can just get her to come when called when she is outside, and only chew on HER toys!!!!

We have the same problem with Maya - The yelping has really helped, and the kids love to do it, they see who can yelp the loudest!! I've gotten to where I say "OW" and she quits with me, like your dog, she listens to me better than anyone else. Since the kids have started trying to train her, doing the tricks I taught her, she has been better at listening to them, also. Good Luck!

I have to agree with Courtnek, I really like Ileah - It has real meaning, and she looks more like an Ileah than a Storm - She is a special dog, she needs a special name

Have fun, and get rested for all those messages you'll need to read when you get back!!!

Thanks, Roo. I had thought about asking Ickle, but she has already answered so many of my questions, I didn't want to bother her again, she is probably sick of me!!

Minnesota drug detection dog is best in the country
mommacat replied to JackieMaya's topic in Working Dogs
What an awesome story!!!! Of course, it would be MN!! Hey, Doglover, do you know why the Mississippi flows south??? -
My pup loves to tug on things, she also has a Kong that she likes (I smear some peanut butter in it to keep her busier longer) and a squeaky toy that she LOVES - especially it seems, when we are trying to watch a movie!! Her favorite "game", however, is learning new tricks. She loves it when I work with her, and loves to show off for people. Danyell, what kind of dog is yours? She looks a lot like my Japanese Spitz, Maya (I can't post a pic of her from here, check out my avatar)[/img]

Good luck - and I think the surgery is a good decision. We lost our schnauzer to a uterine infection after a false pregnancy, and I will NEVER put a dog (or us) through that again!! My sweet  Abbie's legacy is that we learned to be much smarter doggy parents.

Behle - our thoughts and prayers are with you. Cancer is so horrible  Take this chance to love an appreciate Max as much as possible, and know all of your dogo friends are thinking of you

Thanks for that info, sanvean - I'll keep that in mind. She has such AWESOME soft fur - I'd hate to wreck it.
-
Your chin is awesome! I met my first chin this year and fell in love! We had a really hard time finding one, then hubby wanted a bigger dog, so we ended up with a Japanese Spitz that we all adore! (that's her in my avatar) I think that someday I will get a Chin - they are just SOO COOL!!8)

She is GORGEOUS!!:loveu: and such a beautiful name. Congratulations RnP - life just gets better and better!

Yes - join It is the best way to spend ALL your free time and a great excuse for not doing housework!!
-
That is awesome!! :D You are lucky to have a place that will allow you to take him in with you.
-
I tried it with Maya - some of it was true, but some things were way off. We never gave her a middle name - maybe that's the problem? Do you give your dogs middle names?
-
(by the way, I didn't even MENTION what she looked like when she got a hold of one of my daughters NEON pink highlighter markers!!)
