1. You did the best you could. Stay focused on the fact that they now have loving homes ok? :)
2. Thanks guys. :D She's going to go with a baby sling - and the stroller. :o She'll have a fanny pack - that'll contain all the anti-bacteria wipes and extra diapers she'll need. It still sounds insane to me - but this is a really capable, strong and all in all amazing woman, so I have no doubt that she'll get through it. I am all the more sure now that I do NOT want human kids! Big salute to all you human AND doggy moms though. ;)
3. How do you manage?! My friend will be a mom in a month or so. We've been discussing how she's going to manage 2 impish dogs and her new baby - and it's all sounds crazy no matter what! to me. The elements in play: 2 cocker spaniels who pull on leash Baby Baby Stroller Baby Diaper bag Poop bags City streets Flight of stairs How can a woman manage all the above and still take her dogs for a walk (and be able to pick up poop) - with baby in tow? Any possible solutions will be greatly appreciated. She's on her own and has to climb up a flight of steps to get to the lift to exit the building. The dogs HAVE to be on leash. And yes, the bby should ideally be able to go along.
4. I'm really sorry you had to make this terrible decision. :( Hope you and your animals stay safe.
5. This is the same vet who'll rescue certain "doomed" dogs? Hope you resolve this somehow - you do NOT deserve to be treated like this. :P Good luck!
6. This has nothing to do with the topic of this post at all:  Behle, I love the quote in your signature! :D Who said that? I'd love to use it (on another forum) in my signature too - may I? ----> "In the end we are all separate: our stories, no matter how similar, come to a fork and diverge. We are drawn to each other because of our similarities, but it is our differences we must learn to respect."
7. Oh, a cocker spaniel! What a darling baby! :-? And look at his tear stains - looks like they haven't been taking care of him well at all. :( No words can describe the contempt I feel for ass-holes like his owners. I would love to give THEM an ear infection they won't forget - and then put them BOTH down, slowly and painfully. :evilbat: Thank you for being the person you are Horsefeathers. And your amazing vet too. I wish I could help foster Mo. He deserves so much Mo than the shitheads that got him first!! :x Cosmic sends his love and kisses to Mo. There's love to go around - it just hasn't found him yet. Please be patient Mo! Don't give up on us. :(
8. Aw. Bad hubby! Maybe you should spank him for being such a bad, bad boy. :evilbat:
9. Can you squeeze out some tears on demand? Rubbing your fingers in onions first might help. It just sounds like it's time YOU threw a hissy fit. :evilbat:
10. Wow. :o I love the poodle with the bubbles - that and the one sporting the design of a frog! Wonder how long grooming took though?! And if the dogs were very bored during the process?
11. OOh! This makes for a very pretty dish at a doggy party! :D It's done sort of chinese style (sorta like the meat stuffing in wantons): Meatball covered Eggs Ingredients: - 10 hardboiled eggs (A) - 600-800 grams of minced pork - 15 water chestnuts (skinned & minced) - *(not sure if this is available in the US, it's what gives the meat in wanton it's lovely 'bite' and texture. This ingredient can be replaced by a small handful of minced turnip or removed altogether.) - 10-15 sweet beans (or a small stem of broccoli), minced - 1 small carrot, grated To bind (B): - 2 tblspns corn flour - one raw egg Seasoning (C): - I tblspn sesame oil (olive oil will do just as well, sesame oil imparts a lovely fragrance though.) - small dash of soy sauce - pepper Method Mix ingredients A,B and C to form a minced meat paste. Grab a small handful of meat, pat into roundish circle of sorts. Place hardboiled egg in centre and wrap the meat around the egg, covering it completely. Try to pack about 1-2cm of meat around each egg. When you have 10 nicely wrapped meatballs, steam the whole lot! Once it's cooked, let cool. If there's fluid in the dish that the meatballs are in, remove the meatballs gently. Just before the party, cut each meatball in half to expose the egg encased in the meat! It'll look very very pretty. 8) Expects lots of ooohs and ahhhhs. Actually, most of my meatballs were eaten by the humans. BAD parents!
12. I used to make this for Cosmic & his friends: Cosmic's Garlicky Cheese Cookies Ingredients: 1 cup oats 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup milled flaxseed (for texture & fragrance) 1/3 cup flaxseed (also for texture & fragrance) 1/2 block of cheddar or any hard cheese (grated) 1 tblspn of butter or margarine Enough milk to moisten Mix the whole lot up. Cut with nice cookie cutters, bake till golden brown & serve! :D Substituting the cheese with 2 tblspns of vegemite or marmite & 1 tblspn of BBQ sauce also makes a bice BBQ flavoured variation. Honey & dried fruits (no raisins!) also work just as well. Tried apples & carrots (grated), which weren't received with as much enthusiasm. Another simple treat: Beef Liver Pieces Freeze a chunk of beef liver. When frozen, remove from freezer and let thaw VERY SLIGHTLY. (5-10mins?) Slice with a sharp knife into very very thin slices (2mm). Lay a single layer on a baking sheet & bake slowly until dried. Lasts about a week or 2. The dogs LOVE this stuff. :o
13. Recycle your old socks with stuffing & cheap squeakers? I also sew up holes in Cosmic's stuffed toys with DMC embroidery thread, not the common cotton thread we use. It's wayyy stronger & holds much better. :D How many of you guys patch the dogs' stuff but not your own clothes?!  *Hands up here*
14.
Would you be afraid?
It would depend on the rest of the dog's body language. If her/his ears were flattened & hackles raised, Yes, I would be intimidated. :P At least enough to not do anything stupid like approach him/her suddenly. I've seen smiles accompanied by lots of tail wagging & friendly gestures - that's just sooo sweet to see.
15. Wow! Their markings are really pretty! :D
16. Great thread! Cosmic ALWAYS has to get in on any hugs that happen. Whenever bf & I hug, he's right there in the middle, wriggling, jumping, pushing his head into us - wanting in on the action. He also does a weird "bunny hop" by the side of our bed whenever he wants attention. He'll place his front paws on the bed and bounce away. Imagine an english cocker with his big nose, long ears and goofy smile hopping on his hind legs. :multi:  Sometimes he'll also rub his face in the sheets and snort away. I need to get a video camera so I can record this.
17. Cosmic is currently on a vegetarian diet. I give him a huge variety of veggies. He does tricks for carrot sticks & green beans.
18. I'm sorry for your loss. :( RIP Zoe.
19. I'm sorry for your loss. :(
20. Sorry that you have to go through this nightmare. :( All the best of luck - we hope Leo gets home to you soon.
21. I'm jumping threads - to yours!
22. We'll be holding a birthday party for Floppy our ACS soon. :D About 20+ doggy guests are expected. I've got a few games thought out, but would like to hear of stuff that's less common! So far we have: - Doggy Race - Fetch (Fastest fetch) - Doggy eating contest (fastest gobbler) - Doggy tricks (most tricks) - Largest poop (done during party) Any other suggestions?
23.
I play with Edge. The game we play the most is what I call doggie Football. I make him stay in the hallway and I have to stay in a sitting position about three feet from the hallway. I put a stuffed animal or a ball behind me. He has to get past me and get the item and I have to tackle him before he can do it. It gets crazy. He will literaly jump over my head LOL.
This sounds like such a fun game! :D I'm going to try it soon - I predict it'll take a while before my ditzy boy gets the rules though.
24. Cosmic LOVES to play Hide & Seek. :D He gets so excited, he'd zoom right past us - even though more than 1/2 of us might be sticking out behind the door.
25. Cosmic used to be picky like that. :? It all worked out for us when I decided to cook yummier food. Just giving you another option felicia.
