1. i've decided to start switching roxy over to the natural balance dog food rolls, from wellness. her teeth have always looked great between eating the dry food and all the chewing that she does. i'm a little worried that eating a softer food will not keep her mouth as clean as is normally has been. so i was wondering what is the best method to keep teeth clean? i don't think that an actual tooth brush and paste would be a great option, since she gets fidgety when you look in her mouth, but i'm still considering it. what about raw bones or greenies??
2. truthfully, there is no way to tell you exactly how this dog will turn out, but chances are not very good. you said the dog is in a cage and not allowed in the house. does this mean the cage is outside? this would leave the dog with no protection from the weather, which can quickly lead to a variety of problems such as heatstroke, hypotermia, etc (i don't know what the climate is there). if the dog is not allowed in the house, it is receiving little to no socialization with humans and other animals. this is not good! dogs who are not socialized often display fear aggression. any aggression the dog has is going to be compounded by the stress of being in a cage 24/7. the dog is already showing aggression if it's biting them. (although if it's a puppy it may just be mouthing or play biting). chewing clothes is not aggression related at all. the dog simply has no outlet for it's energy. pits are aggressive chewers and will chew anything if not provided with the proper excersize and toys. these people have no business having any kind of dog, nevermind a pit bull.
3. one american pit bull terrier
4. yes, i've done that comparison wizard a million times! lol. she's pretty much been ignoring her food again this week and it's time to restock. right now i've got it down between innova and the chicken soup. both look really good so i don't know. i'm leaning a little more toward innova just because it's more established.
5. we came across that on the pit message board i belong to. everyone's been emailing him and the editor since yesterday.
6. there was a thread discussing this dog fighting webiste earlier this week. i thought everyone would like to know that they have taken down their message board!
7. i heard about this shot a while ago. the information i read said that the shot essentially atrophies the testicles so they don't produce anything. i don't believe it has the behavioral effects of traditional neutering, ie. lessening aggression, cutting down on humping and roaming, etc. since this is so new, and doesn't really cut down on unwanted behavior, i would probably opt for the traditional method.
8. i have been to that site time and time again. each time i go, it makes me cry. afterward i just want to hold roxy. people can be so vile, it makes me ashamed to be human.
9. haha, i'll have to buy her a bill clinton doll and test her loyalty to that party!
10. roxy will play with just about anything, but she especially loves any kind of stuffed animal. right now her toy of the moment is the head of a puppet that looks like barbara bush. scary.
11. maybe he just doesn't want to play with those toys! if i bring roxy outside, with one of her "inside" toys, she will completely ignore it. even if its her favorite stuffed squirrel, which now looks like roadkill. balls, tug rope, frisbee, anything that comes from inside, she won't play with outside. she will go absolutely nuts though, for a good broom stick or tree branch. so maybe try bringing new playthings when you go out, maybe that would help.
12. i know these are both very high quality dog kibbles, but i was wondering which you guys thought was better. roxy currently eats wellness puppy, but she's not very interested in most of the time.
13. one dog name: roxy age: 7 months breed: american pit bull terrier four cats, three fish, one snake, one gecko, and a partridge in a pear tree.
14. most people will tell you not to use baby shampoo, but that's what i use. i have an abpt, also notorious for bad skin, but its working out for us so far. her coat is smooth and shiny, and no flakes or anything.
15. roxy's poop problems are all gone! i think her body was just not used to the food quite yet. we haven't had any problems in a while, except for when miss begs treats off of everyone in the house and gets herself sick. she's doesn't seem to be especially enthralled by the food though, so i'm looking into that gravy that you add to dry food to make it yummy.
16. her ears are so expressive. she's such a goofball, i couldn't imagine her with cropped ears.
17. http://members.aol.com/rosesarebetter/myhomepage/roxy%20on%20the%20computer.jpg?mtbrand=AOL_US roxy is an almost 7 month old, female rednose apbt.
18. when we first got roxy she had the hiccups everyday. as she started getting a little older they became less frequent and now she rarely has them.
19. roxy's many names include: roxydog tuffstuff poopiedoop poopers boobers stinkoman (even though she's a girl) hamstray puppies miss muscles dogopiacentino
20. looks like everything is fine with her. she hasn't thrown up since last night, and she's been drinking a little and ate a few bites.
21. here's the situation: roxy was spayed today. the vet explained that she may be sick during the day as an after effect from the anethesia. but she's thrown up three times since we brought her home and she refuses to drink any water. is this normal?
22. cropping most of the time is 100% for looks (at least when it comes to pit bulls i'm not to sure about other breeds). i don't know how much dogs "need" certain features since in some cases these features cause problems. for example many dogs with long droopy ears have problems with ear infection because there is not adequate air circulation. my fiance previously owned a pit bull who had this kind of problem, and the vet actually recommended cropping the ears to help. just my two cents, i don't really know if i helped at all.
23. it could have been something along the lines of hot peanut butter/cold yogurt not getting along. roxy loves peanut butter treats of all sorts, but i've never given her yogurt. i always heard that it was great for them. maybe it was just a fluke?
24. i also use baby shampoo. johnson's has a nice soothing lavender...mmm, nice.
25. i only gave her one! maybe she just needed to adjust to the yogurt, but after that mess, i'm not going to find out!
