1. How cute. She sounds like such a smart girl. :D
2. Indy is not a licker but Kira will lick anywhere she can. We are trying to discourage her as it's very annoying.
3. Nope, Indy is a Alpha want to be so play fighting is not a good idea with him. I also don't like the idea of playing tug-o-war with dogs as it increases their bite reflexes.
4. Good for Kyle. Hope she learned her lesson.
5. That would make it easier ESS. The tail should be a bit of a give away and so should the body structure. A Mal should be a lot more solid than a GSD.
6. Just curious.... for those that are so adament that this girls dog is not a Mal - why? I'm not saying it is but it could be. They do come in all white (and it's not a fault) and by the sounds of it she got her from a BYB so if she is a Mal, probably just a poorly bred one. We are only going of the head shot and the facial features remind me of some head shots I have of Indy.
7. Looks like fun for the dogs.
8. Sounds like you guys have been having a great time and that Candy is a little super star. Can't wait to see pics. :D
9. Good luck. This sounds like Baxter's lucky break, I really hope it works out for you all.
10. The pictures too small to tell, but she looks a little lean to be a Malamute, but you never know she could be.
11. I got 7 but some were just lucky guesses. I got the one about onions right but then in the answer it said that garlic causes anemia aswell. Is this true? I thought a lot of people fed their dogs garlic as it’s a good flea repellant.
12. Congratulations. :P
13. What does her nose feel like? Is it hot and dry is it still damp? What are her gums like? Have they changed colour? What are they like to touch – slimey or have they dried out? Is she still drinking? If her nose is still damp and so are her gums I wouldn’t worry too much at this stage. Keep keep an eye on her and make sure she is still drinking.
14. Happy Birthday Jesse :tort:
15. This jerk not only give pitties a bad name but gives human beings a bad name. How some people get such screwed up beliefs is beyond me. :-?
16. oohh congratulations!!!
17. Our dogs actually lick the tiled floor a lot so I am very careful about what I use to clean it. I don’t use a specific floor cleaner an I am worried that the chemicals may be harmful so I use an all purposes cleaner that can also be used for humas to wash their hands with. I figure if it’s safe for me to wash my hands with then it can’t cause any harm if they lick the floor after it’s been used to clean it.
18. I'm late too - but sending lots of positive thoughts.
19. BM, I have never ever spoken rudely to any of my Grandparents but there has never been any need. In Crystal’s defence, I think it’s justified in her case. Her Grandfather just doesn’t seem to care that Sassy gets out and refuses to do what he can to prevent it. There have been quite a few posts about this in the past and from what I can gather it’s a bit past her asking him nicely to be more careful.
20. Congratulations!!
21.

My Grandpa loves to stand with the door standing wide open when he comes in or goes out. I'm like hurry up & shut the door!! Then he say's don't tell me what to do..
OK I'm about to tell you "how to live your life" so you can stop reading right here if you can't take it. Don't talk to a grandparent like that. Basic human decency ... honor your parents, doubly so your grandparents. Period. It is not up to you to decide whether they "Deserve" it or not. I sound like an old lady but what is this world coming to?
BM, I don't actually agree. Respect needs to be earnt, just because you are old you don't automatically get it. I presonally do respect my parents and grandparents but they have earnt it and deserve it. However, if they were doing something that was endangering one of my dog's lifes and just didn't care then I would talk to them about it how I bloody well want.
22. That is great news. Glad the training is working so well. And yes, he is absolutley adorable. :D
23. I can imagine that must have been quite an ordeal for all of you but it was for the best. Now that you have managed to shave the area it should be able to breath and heal very quickly.
24.
If hot spots are supposed to be kept dry, why are there so many sprays advertised for it? People use it and say it works.. Just wondering... If there is any chance a spray could work, that would be the easiest and safest thing for us all right now. What about a spray with the fan? Lets the moisure evaporate, but also gives the spray a chance to do its work.
I really have no idea. I’m not saying a spray wouldn’t work, I was just going on my own past experience. I guess it may also depend on what the cause of the hot spot is. In my two dogs it was not food related. All times that the dogs have got hot spots have been when we have extended periods of rain in humid weather. The dog has had a cut or a scratch, got soaked in the rain, it’s been very humid and the cut/scratch has then turned into a hot spot. Then as the rain kept up for days on end they were constantly damp, they have very thick fur so the sore couldn’t breath and so on….viola a horrible hot spot. Since we have had our dryer we have never had another hot spot. When it rains and the dogs get wet they get thoroughly dried with the dryer. I’m actually so fanatical about it that they have learnt they are better of just saying inside and staying dry. I guess that was why I was so focussed on staying dry and using powders etc in our cases any type of moisture was not our friend.
25. Oh I didn’t think of flies – you don’t want those getting on it. Maybe sit outside with her for a bit so it can get some direct sunlight on it but you can keep the flies off her???? I’m just trying to think of ways you can keep it as dry as possible. The reason the vet shaves the area is so it can breath and it will heal quicker. If you can still get lots of air in there by another method it should still work. I found the dryer worked wonders for us. If were close you could borrow it. Maybe try your hairdryer on the cold setting??? Here is a link to the exact powder I used. I don’t know if you can get the exact same brand where you are but you should be able to find something that does the same thing. Here I can get it from the supermarket or from any chemist. http://www.mailchemist.com/products/products_view.cfm?ProductID=4191 Good luck. I really feel for you as I was at my wits ends the first time Indy had one. I could see how painful it was but he wouldn’t let me do anything for him. Now I know what sets them off I have been able to prevent them and neither dog has had one for ages.
