I still can't stop crying! :cry:It's from Dogomania! Read this and weep... Story of a Pet shop puppy Read this and weep... I don't remember much from the place I was born. It was cramped and dark, and we were never played with by the humans. I remember Mom and her soft fur, but she was often sick, and very thin. She had hardly any milk for me and my brothers and sisters. I remember many of them dying, and I missed them so. I do remember the day I was taken from Mom. I was so sad and scared, my milk teeth had only just come in, and I really should have been with Mom still, but she was so sick, and the Humans kept saying that they wanted money and were sick of the "mess" that me and my sister made. So we were crated up and taken to a strange place. Just the two of us. We huddled together and were scared, still no human hands came to pet or love us. So many sights and sounds, and smells! We are in a store where there are many different animals! Some that squawk! some that meow! Some that Peep! My sister and I are jammed into a small cage, I hear other puppies here. I see humans look at me, I like the 'little humans', the kids. They look so sweet, and fun, like they would play with me! All day we stay in the small cage, sometimes mean people will hit the glass and frighten us, every once in a while we are taken out to be held or shown to humans. Some are gentle, some hurt us, we always hear "Aw they are So cute! I want one!" but we never get to go with any. My sister died last night, when the store was dark. I lay my head on her soft fur and felt the life leave her small thin body. I had heard them say she was sick, and that I should be sold at a "discount price" so that I would quickly leave the store. I think my soft whine was the only one that mourned for her as her body was taken out of the cage in the morning and dumped. Today, a family came and bought me! Oh happy day! They are a nice family, they really, really wanted me! They had bought a dish and food and the little girl held me so tenderly in her arms. I love her so much! The mom and dad say what a sweet and good puppy I am! I am named Angel. I love to lick my new humans! The family takes such good care of me, they are loving and tender and sweet. They gently teach me right and wrong, give me good food, and lots of love! I want only to please these wonderful people! I love the little girl and I enjoy running and playing with her. Today I went to the veterinarian. it was a strange place and I was frightened. I got some shots, but my best friend the little girl held me softly and said it would be OK. So I relaxed. The Vet must have said sad words to my beloved family, because they looked awfully sad. I heard Severe hip dysplasia, and something about my heart... I heard the vet say something about, back yard breeders and my parents not being tested. I know not what any of that means, just that it hurts me to see my family so sad. But they still love me, and I still love them very much! I am 6 months old now. Where most other puppies are robust and rowdy, it hurts me terribly just to move. The pain never lets up. It hurts to run and play with my beloved little girl, and I find it hard to breathe. I keep trying my best to be the strong pup I know I am supposed to be, but it is so hard. It breaks my heart to see the little girl so sad, and to hear the Mom and Dad talk about "it might now be the time". Several times I have went to that veterinarians place, and the news is never good. Always talk about Congenital Problems. I just want to feel the warm sunshine and run, and play and nuzzle with my family. Last night was the worst, Pain has been my constant companion now, it hurts even to get up and get a drink. I try to get up but can only whine in pain. I am taken in the car one last time. Everyone is so sad, and I don't know why. Have I been bad? I try to be good and loving, what have I done wrong? Oh if only this pain would be gone! If only I could soothe the tears of the little girl. I reach out my muzzle to lick her hand, but can only whine in pain. The veterinarians table is so cold. I am so frightened. The humans all hug and love me, they cry into my soft fur. I can feel their love and sadness. I manage to lick softly their hands. Even the vet doesn't seem so scary today. He is gentle and I sense some kind of relief for my pain. The little girl holds me softly and I thank her, for giving me all her love. I feel a soft pinch in my foreleg. The pain is beginning to lift, I am beginning to feel a peace descend upon me. I can now softly lick her hand. My vision is becoming dreamlike now, and I see my Mother and my brothers and sisters, in a far off green place. They tell me there is no pain there, only peace and happiness. I tell the family, good-bye in the only way I know how, a soft wag of my tail and a nuzzle of my nose. I had hoped to spend many, many moons with them, but it was not meant to be. "You see," said the veterinarian, "Pet shop puppies do not come from ethical breeders." The pain ends now, and I know it will be many years until I see my beloved family again. If only things could have been different. (This story may be published or reprinted in the hopes that it will stop unethical breeders and those who breed only for money and not for the betterment of the breed) Copyright 1999 J. How does your dog ask for snuggles?
Rowie-the-Pooh replied to Lord_Pik's topic in Everything about dogs
What about with PEOPLE? Does anyone's dogs get jelous when you associate with other people and NOT them? Or better yet, do YOU get jelous cuz your dog acts like someone else is their best friend, even though YOUR the one who raised them from a pup and FEEDS THEM!  (like in my case I guess... I'm a little jelous that Hazel seems to just ADORE my b/f and when he comes over she doesn't want to have anything to do with ME! LOL And just a while ago we had the problem that HE was jelous of my dog! GEEZ!)
Yup I get jelous. Sometimes when my friends come over, Rowie goes to BITS over them, and acts as if THEY where the ones who loved her, nurtured her, and took care of her all this time! :x Sometimes I get so jelous that I take all my friends into my room and lock ourselves in so Rowie can't get in! Ofcourse, after that I feel guilty and always end up letting her come inside again! -
How cute! Definatly a smart pill! :D Could you send some over for Rowie?

Awww! Thanks soo much guys!! :D I always knew I could count on Dogo for support! Ok, now the update, Rowie's eye is much better now! :D *Big sigh of relief* And it doesn't seem to bother her...her eye was only red cuz of the moon reflecting it, but still it was only that eye and that worries me. :-? We scheduled a vet appoinetment, so I have a HUGE wieght lifted of my shoulders! :D Just to be careful, I'm keeping her inside away from the dust, and washing it repeatedly with water. It's the most I can do until we go to the vets. :-? K: I checked the website out, and no Rowie's eye isn't like that, as I said before her eye was only reflecting the moonlight  thanks for the website though, I'll bookmark it just in case! :D Hazel: Uhg! Don't you hate it when you lose to your parents? 'Specially your mom? :x My mom kept repeating:"I told you so, I told you so"!! :x  I read your Topic 'bout Hazel before posting my Topic and I knew exactly how you felt! :D Again, thanks everyone for your support!! :D :D :D mwaah! :D :D :D I'll keep you updated, and tell you what the vet says ASAP!! :D :D

EEK! Feel really bad, sad, and insecure now and need some help from my buddies! Ok, so here it goes, for the last couple of months, my mom kept telling me that Rowie's right eye looked different from her left. Ofcourse I checked, and double checked, nothing seemed to be wrong! :-? Ok, so every Friday, me, Rowie, and my Aunt go on this LONG walk with other people to wierd places where there is little civilization. Well, on Friday, as usual, we went, I packed alot of water and treats with me inculding luch and a toy just incase. And of we went on the walk. It was quite windy actually, and there was alotta sand, but non of the other dogs seemed irritated nieher did Rowie. Ok, everything fine till here. We come back home, and give Rowie a hose down and bathe her paws and check for burrs and such. Evrything is doing A OK. So I leave for my uncles house(Rowie has the rest of the family at home with her, I never keep her unsupervised at home don't worry  ) and have a fun time with my cousins and thier irritating dog, Blackie. After a while, at dinner time, I go back home. I am greeted with Rowie at the gate as usual(she has never failed to meet me at the gate when I go out ever since we got her :D ) and I ring the intercom, my mother picks up the phone, and buzzez me inside. Ok, here's the spooky part, I come inside(remmember it is at night) and Rowies right eye is RED! :o :o :o Great shock for me! I was about to faint, and I called my mother outside, and show her Rowie's eye. Now, Rowie is an inside dog ofcourse, but according to my mother, had been playing outside and doing her Rowie bussiness. So, they didn't notice her eye. I take her into the house, into the light, and her eye is back to normal. :-? It turned out to be the moon! But, just in case, I washed BOTH of Rowie's eyes THOUROGHLY and then did a couple of tests to make sure her eyes where OK. Well, in the morning her eye seems OK, but notice that it has this glassy look, and the pupil is BIGGER than her normal eye! :o :o :o EEK! Now I feel like a loser, a total loser. My mother was RIGHT! There WAS something wrong with her eye but I was too ignorant to believe her! I'm thinking that this could be some kind of genetic defect? Maybe passed on by her parents? But she comes from REALLY GOOD breeding...maybe somethings wrong with eye? Maybe it was the walk? She picked up something maybe? I feel like I have tottaly beytrayed my duties as a responsible owner! Rowie relies on ME to keep her fit and healthy and to notice if somethings wrong! My mother keeps reassuring me that it's ok, and that it's probably nothing... But just to make sure, we're gonna take Rowie to the vet...you never know. it could be seriuos! :o Any comments? What should I do? I know that the eye is a sensative tissue and it may be something seriouse! Oh, and for those of you who don't know, Rowie is a year and 2 months. She is a pure bred Golden Retriever, and Goldens are known for ALOT of genetic diseases...like Hip Dysplasia, diebietes...etc. Please Help! :o Oh, an sorry for all the grammer mistakes, and spelling mistakes!! It's REALLY late here, and I'm soooo worried about Rowie that I can't even type!! :o Plus, it's a REALLY long post(I apologize for that) and I'm too lazy to go and find the mistakes! Thanks.... How does your dog ask for snuggles?
Rowie-the-Pooh replied to Lord_Pik's topic in Everything about dogs
Rowie paws at me too! She will give me this REALLY sad-ish lonely-ish face, then paw at me, if I ignore her, she thrusts her muzzle onto my lap and heaves this BIG sigh! That usually gets me to cuddle her!! It's 'specially hard NOT to give "Snuggles" to Rowie cuz she has the most adorable face!! :D But i'll stop talking now or I'll never stop... :D -
That was one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I have ever read!! I think I'm gonne print it out and show it to all my family and friends... That was so sad...good thing I didn't read it somewhere public!! :o I'm bawling my eyes out!! My friends and I have started a club, we have members and stuff, brochures and stories to inform people...and all the money we collect goes to the shelter! :D Now I'm sure...my next dog will be from the pound!!

HOW MANY DOGS DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB?
Rowie-the-Pooh replied to Daisysmom's topic in Everything about dogs
Afghan Hound: Light Bulb? What's a light bulb? Haha! I love that one! :D Rowie: Lemme change it! I will! I will! I promise I won't do anything! Lemme change it! Lemme! When everyone has gone, trusting her with the lightbulb, Rowie, in the dark, chewes it ALL up, hides what's remained of it under the carpet, and runs away and starts a career as a travelling circus dog. -
I'm sorry too hear this. Don't be a stranger, you don't need to have a dog to come chat with us.
Yes, exactly!
