Rough pads

Blitz's pads are quite rough, especially when he jumps on me or stretches them against my bare leg/arm while sitting on the couch together. They're not ripped or anything, just rough. Is there anything I can put on them to soften them, something he won't lick off?
2. I think it IS possible to breed more than one breed of dog and do it well... it would maybe help if they were in the same category with the same basic drives eg. kelpies and heelers (herding), pointers and weims (hunting) etc. but I guess like any irresponsible "breeder" you can stuff up with one breed and taking on two or more is asking for trouble if you can't even get one right, not that this stops some stupid people though.
3. Oh but Koolie your dogs are very striking to look at! I suppose it's good that koolies are not so well-known (would that explain why you're the only one who trials?), keeps the puppy farmers, Burke the berk et al away from them :x Maybe it also explains why so many men in a club or a bar can spot a blonde at fifty paces? 8)
4. Thanks Marble... you know, you can have him for a little while if you want LOL... I showed Dresden's photo to Dad and he said they could be twins! :) I really hope those guys weren't hitting on me!! Ick, but you're right, some men never give up. My grandpa is like that, not that he flirts with women as young as me, but with nannas and stuff he'll give em some of that charm... especially when we get him drunk... oh it is funny...
5. Gigi maybe she IS just maturing. I would only be worried if she showed no interest in anything at all. Blitz ripped the whole yard apart when he was younger, but now he is mature (well, as mature as he's ever going to get), he doesn't like toys anymore... he likes playing with other dogs the most, that's when he really comes alive. He plays with us in more subtle ways like licking, heel nipping etc. I think Kika is still playing but in a more mature way, perhaps.
6. Weird all right :-? I mean, they didn't know for sure that it was a Pit in the first place. And the "bite marks".... hmmm.... SOMEONE's telling fibs....
7. Hope everything went well today for Guy... just think of how great it will be when his leg is all better...
8. That's awful. What a horrible thing to happen to everyone involved. :x
9. Ugh. Is this what I have to look forward to one day?
10. Good stuff Rowie!!! :D
11. That's a good idea :)
12. Hobbit they were a little... ummm... OLD for me! We had a party last night and he was SO well behaved... I am proud of him for being so good... all my friends loved him and said how sweet and cute and docile he was (yeah, my little angel... hehe)...
13. K, you might be pleased (??) to know the Queensland Courier Mail (who I think are owned by NewsCorp, ie. same as Herald Sun) does NOT have a very good reputation for quality accurate journalism. They get rubbished pretty much every week on Media Watch (TV show that picks on all the faults in the news, newspapers etc). Queensland is full of rednecks, racists and drunks anyway (yeah, and my mum is from Queensland so I feel qualified to say this LOL)...
14. Did you end up getting the pup back????
15.
Bk, what about those nylabones, ever tried them? Do you know if they're good?
Ha ha ha! I spent twenty bucks on a Nylabone for Blitz and it's still lying in the yard, untouched... Some dogs like them I suppose though? Normal dogs that is
16. I've just come back from voting at the local primary school, I took BK there (his second outing today, geez I miss having a car but all the walking I'm doing now!!) and the two men who hand out how to vote cards at the entrance both stopped me to comment on how cute he was, and what sort of dog is he blah blah. On the way out from voting this old guy said to me "how much for him?" Then he laughed and said "only joking, but he's a very nice looking dog." I got stopped again on the way out by the how to vote card people wanting to pat him and talk to him... hmmph... if I went by myself I would get no attention at all... 8)
17. Exercising a dog while driving a car is asking for trouble. As Nikki said what if the dog trips? What if he gets caught under the tyres, what if he wants to sniff something or pee on something or another dog goes by... not to mention he would most likely be on the ROAD which is not teaching the dog any street sense at all, or heeling or manners or anything. Why are there so many idiot pet owners in the world?
18. Hmmm yes well some people think they can get all this stuff for free... bah stupid people.
19. Sounds like something out of the Herald Sun  The journo's name is familiar. Wouldn't surprise me if they printed crap like this. :x
20. I can't believe (well, sadly I can) these are for real. :o Why don't they try the shelter? Fancy not wanting to spend money on their pets... :x
21. LOL Connie... now this is a general forum and bestiality will not be tolerated  Sometimes BK whinges in his sleep, sometimes he snorts and sometimes he growls too... it's cute.
22. Ha ha ha. More like chasing cats that don't fight back! He's doing it again as I write! :D
23. This has probably been asked before... do they? BK was sleeping on the couch and all 4 of his paws were twitching in running sequence. It was cute but lasted maybe a minute... does anyone know if dogs have the capacity to dream?
24. I can't really help you... some dogs have a great urge to destroy things they catch. However I would imagine a trained gundog would not do this, or would have this nasty habit bred out of them or corrected? :-? Getting the dog to "drop" what it is carrying on command (you could use something like "leave it" or "drop it" so as not to confuse with the command "drop") might help... ?
25.
Sleep? I didn't sleep the first 18 years after my daughter was borned! :-?
Neither did my dad :D he used to read me stories every night and he would fall asleep before I did, I used to have to wake him up LOL Sorry, don't have any baby stories to contribute, that's not going to be happening to me for a LONG time!
