Welcome to the group pets4ever! We're a pretty fiery bunch around here and the discussions get a little heated sometimes, but opinions are always welcome and our moderators are great at intervening in the event of an all out riot

How much are they there? (British Bulldogs)....they run about $1200 here.....although I have a friend that does Bulldog rescue and I think they only charge $200-$400 .....not even enough to cover vet expense and food.

LOL...my mom used to have 2 Pekes, and they literally look like dustmops with eyes (very very large eyes) .Apparently the Chinese emperor originally used the breed to guard the palace (my guess is that they used to be MUCH larger, and have been bred down to the toy dog we know today)....My mom's Pekes THOUGHT they were big dogs though.Very bold and assertive and yes....YAPPY
Lily makes up for it by eating 4 -5 cups per day, a whole chicken carcass, eggs, pureed carrots, table scraps and the list goes on and she never puts on any weight! :-?
WOW...that IS a lot!...how old is she??? Loki is 18 months...INCREDIBLY healthy (according to his vet) and he only eats 5 cups of premium grade kibble + a cup of rice OR cottage cheese a day....are you sure they're the same breed???

So sorry to hear about Goober's passing :( . It is surely a comfort to you knowing you made the last year of his life a happy and love filled one ! Fragile Circle... "We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan." Irving Townsend.
She can't go outside to pee because my grandma won't allow it, :(
:o Ok, I'm confused about THIS statement....do you mean she won't EVER allow the dog to go outside to pee? I sure hope not because if this is a Lab puppy,it is going to grow to be a LARGE,very active dog. Are you not planning on taking her out for frequent walks??? (That is no life for a dog that size...or any size for that matter),and ummmm...do you really WANT to train a breed the size of a lab to "go potty" IN the house??...I really don't mean to lecture, because maybe this is normal where you are from, but INCONVENIENCE should never be an excuse or even an ISSUE when it comes to the proper care of your pets...when you buy a dog,you take on that responsibility....I have a large dog, AND I live in an apartment.Six or seven times a day I trek down 2 flights of stairs to take him out to relieve himself and get some exercise....doesn't matter if I don't FEEL like it...or if the weather is bad...it is MY job as a pet owner...bottom line! I sincerely hope I'm just misunderstanding your post... :-? Please correct me if I misread...
ohhh d*** where was I for this thread...you guys really need to PM me or something if I dont respond to a "guest" thread fast enough
Hmmmm, but would that not be considered equivalent to unleashing an attack dog on an "intruder" ?

Aaaaargh!...here's the article from reuters, courtesy of "oddnews" : Dog Freezer Lands In Jail LONDON - A British dog breeder who kept the corpses of dead puppies in her freezer to later thaw them out and make bogus insurance claims on them has been sentenced to 18 months in jail, British newspapers reported. The 52-year-old woman kept the puppies in labeled plastic bags in her fridge-freezer among her frozen groceries, the tabloid Daily Mail reported. The paper said she used the animals' corpses to make false insurance claims worth around $785 each, presenting the defrosted corpses as proof of her claim along with false veterinary certificates. The woman had also claimed 1,000 pounds from an insurance company saying an aggressive Yorkshire Terrier dog had scared her pet parrot to death, it said. She admitted to 23 charges of fraud over seven years and was caught after an anonymous tip-off to police.

They were discussing this on another list that I'm part of and apparently CNN broadcast clips from the tapes that showed the Al Qaeda (sp?) soldiers testing these poisonous gases on dogs, with the intent of using them in future terrorist attacks against people :( :x It never ceases to amaze me how "people aggressive" humans actually are...

Loki NEVER barks....except at the vacuum  .....he whines if he wants something, and on a couple of occasions he has growled (when he felt I was being threatened). I had him 3 weeks before I ever heard him make a SOUND...I was seriously beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with his vocal chords.....lol Oh gawd, and I can TOTALLY relate to the bed thing.........his favorite spot is under the covers, snuggled between my husband and I, with his big drooly head on my pillow :-?
