1. I would just like to make a point about re-homing older dogs and the separation issue. I have been on the uk sheltie rescue for years and have come across this broken marriage problem many times but I have to say in the long term the dogs settle down with the people who gives them loving care & a sense of security as this is what they need more than anything. They may miss their dog companion but will love having all the attention for themselves. Since Zoey is going to people she know and loves this will not be so upsetting for her and the bonus is she will have Justin when he gets back. Do not be so quick to judge DAL you never know what you would do in the same situation I have heard many similar stories in the rescue job and pray to God that you or I will never be put in this position DAL You are doing you best for Zoey and do not let anyone tell you different If you did not care the poor dog could be in the pound or worse. Thanks for caring about her welfare Ickle
2. From frogdoggers Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and may decide you need one. Mary and her husband Jim had a dog, Lucky. Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably someone would forget and something would come up missing.Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box. It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease... she was just sure it was fatal. She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders. The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her... what would happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him.The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death. The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully but the dog just drooped, whining and miserable. But finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap. Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed. When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. Panic soon gave way to laughter though when Mary realized the problem. she was covered, literally blanketed, in every treasure Lucky owned! While she had slept the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement and back bringing his beloved mistress his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love. Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every night. It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure. Live everyday to the fullest... because every day is a blessing from God Ickle[

4. This all comes from us thinking it so cute when they are babies and laughing at their mouthing & barking but as you are now finding it is not so cute as they get older. You have got some very good advice from the group .Especially the one pretending you are hurt I found that worked well. I hope you can stop it before someone outside the family takes it the wrong way. LOL Ickle
5. Welcome back :D Ickle

Romeo was strong healthy 6 years old Bull Terrier who was very well taken care off. Living in one of the best families I can think off. Romeo got sick on last Thursday morning throwing up yellow bile . He was very sick. His fewer was up to 105,....high white count. Kidneys still good. The vet has been with him all weekend and has let owners stay with him a lot. His owner crawled in the kennel with him and just rubbed him and talked to him. She felt so helpless. By Saturday his Kidney/Creatinine was 7.0. 18 oak leaves were in a perfect ball sitting on the bottom of his stomach. There was a fold of skin between his stomach and his pancreas. That fold had created an abscess that had begun to leak into his abdomen cavity and caused his high temperature and vomiting. His stools were normal the whole time. He never was blocked. The poison from the abscess spread instantly during the surgery. He went into septic shock and all of his intestines hemorrhaged. Monday his Creatinine was 10......... Romeo died in arms of his mom and dad on Monday. Please warn everyone about what can happen and how it happens so quickly. Romeo was such a love to them. This has broken their hearts. Thank you Yana/Lionheart's Bullies Just had to pass this on Ickle

Why do you not get in touch with the KC and ask them to recommend a dogue specialist who could look at your bitch I am almost afraid to tell you that in my area I know of four dogues who have already been through a re-homing process. A friend of my husband has just lost the one he rescued it unfortunately died of bloat/ Please Please think very carefully before you breed Ickle
25. Sent from the Internet (Details) In honour of our friend, the dog - from a doggie friend on another list. Dear God - from a dog This is pretty cute for those of us who are DOG people! Or who are not, for that matter. Dear God, Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Dear God, When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story? Dear God, Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the 'Chrysler Eagle' the 'Chrysler Beagle'? Dear God, If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog? Dear God, We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand? Dear God, When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get in? Dear God, Are there letter carriers in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize? Dear God, Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog . . 1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up. 2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell. 3. I will not munch on "leftovers" in the kitty litter box; although they are tasty, they are not food. 4. The nappy pail is not a cookie jar. 5. The sofa is not a face towel; neither are Mom and Dad's laps. 6. The refuse collector is not stealing our stuff. 7. My head does not belong in the refrigerator. 8. I will not bite the officer's hand when he reaches in for Mom's driver's license and registration. 9. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet. 10. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is not an acceptable way of saying 'hello.' 11. I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm lying under the coffee table. 12. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house. 13. I will not throw up in the car. 14. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt across the carpet. 15. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch when we have company. 16. The cat is not a squeaky toy; so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing. 17. One last thing, God . . . when I get to Heaven, can I please have my testicles back? Ickle
