Here's the downside of breeding.Your dog MAY die during pregnacy or even a c-section.If you watch the chow chow in ''That's My Baby'' on Animal Planet, the friend's chow died after having a c-section!Would you want your beloved pet to die from taking a risk?Is it really worth it.And with such a breed like yours it could have a big litter. How would you feel when one of the 5 pups die?How would you cope with that? And then maybe you decided to keep one.So then 3 pups left. The outcome could be one would be a GREAT family pet,the second pup could be neglected and abuse, and the third a dog that couldn't be socialize so now its off to the shelter.People pass by the cages and buy the perferable small pug or chihuahua. Then the pup would be put to sleep. Is that really what you want?Think about your dog, does she really want to go through labor? All that pain, and maybe even death? What if when she's taking off the after-birth she chokes on it and dies?If you really love your dog, spay her and not only would she be happier, but she'll have less behavioral problems :P

Nina, new dog (for those who don't know) is the newest dog to our addition.Nina is a GREAT people dog, family dog, good fetcher (unlike my other dogs who don't bring the ball back :-? ).She LOVES people!Would make a great flyball,or any sort of activity dog.But NOT for us.I love all my pets.I love my rat terrier,Didi who's been with us for 4 years, and Cookie who's been with us for about a month.I have boned dearly with Didi & Cookie. As Nina is new I'm not attach to her,as I am with my other dogs.Which is a good thing.I have to give her to my mom's friend, who has children, can devote her time to the dog,and has NO DOGS.I thought Nina just had food aggression at first when her and Cookie fought.I never introduce her to Didi, her beinging a small dog ;wouldn't want her to get hurt. Then today I was throwing a ball for Nina to fetch, and Cookie was sniffing around and decided to join in.Nina then attacks her,Cookie denfending herself bit her.Up to the part where Nina was bleeding.Cookie never showed this sort of behavior at the dog park or with Didi. So,I knew now the issue was Nina. She would show her teeth and bark viciously when Didi or Cookie approach.Cookie is not a dog fighter,I have a quirk with her biting Nina and making Nina bleed that is kinda dangerous, but Nina cannot stay with us if this is the sort of behavior.Didi is also dog-aggresive but only shows her teeth and growls.Thta's why I'm socializing her by going to the dog park.Cookie loves the dog park.If I take Nina to the dog park, there would be problems so I have to say goodbye,I'm lucky I didn't bond with her or else this would be heartbreaking. It is sad to see her go,but atleast she would have a family that loves her, instead of beinging in a kennel all-day,because she can't be trusted

Even if someone did offer to give away a pit bull, you're in the bronx and they might be somewhere in texas ooookay who would pay for the transportation?just pay a small fee of $60 a rescue one from the shetler if you really love this breed.maybe for you,and i know for me along time ago this seem like alot, you just gotta earn the money.you're in the bronx, braid someone's hair, walk some dogs, babysit some children.but one thing don't go to a pet shop, spent like $500 and eventually they might get sick. p.s.-never give out your email, there might be hackers lurking

Now younger generations are with this mix nonsense. This girl about 8 or 9yrs. old called her dog a speagle.A spaniel/beagle mix :x I understand she loves her dog,and she's very responsible, but with all these breeds cockapoo, ect no wonder she's even in the game of naming mix-breeds.
-
Nina (lab) & Cookie (mix) are both 4 months,Didi( rat terrier) is 4yrs. old (all 4s :P ).Doing good.Nina was alittle uncomfortable beinging the create, but then like 15-30 minutes later she settled down.No fights,Thank God.I'm glad there's someone here I could relate too. :D

Nina the black labrador retriever.Oh my god what a welcoming  My mix akita/gsd was eating and this fool has the nerve to come up to her,so guess what, yep a fight :x .The good part was my dog-aggressive (in process of not beinging) rat terrier was actually not growling, she behaved real good with the lab,a low-growl but that's all. Both puppies (mix & lab) are very hyper!I should enter them in flyball or something, because the house here is going to be insane! The dog's are in their crates, calmly no fighting, just have to feed them at different times. But,yeesh the neighbor's probably thought we were fighting pit bulls or something!!And my sister's husband told me they're giving away a pony just around the block.I would love one but this is enough no more please god no more animals!People are so used to just dropping their unwanted animals at my house, and to not drive my mother insane,I'm going to try and stop this addictive collection.Oh,and today was just crazy even before we got Nina, the rottweiler next door got into our backyard so I babysat it,and the owners until they get her a kennel on monday, ask me if I could babysit her again on sunday. And I had to just say yes (I need classes on how to say NO!).So Sunday 4 dogs, and 3 birds in my house. This is going to be a very hard thing to explain to my friends on Monday that I have 3 dogs!As 2 weren't enough, and 3 birds!Well, more fun at the dog park though :D .

I never seen a strange mix,I once HEARD of a great dane/chihuahua :-? ,but you can't really believe everything you hear  .I once had a dog that was mix with 4 things pit bull/boxer x dalmatian/great dane. The mommy was pit bull/boxer,and daddy was dalmatian/great dane :P
-
That's good to hear, some people have more knowledge about animals and how they need our help thanks to you :P
-
it also depends on the law,if the breed is ban you don't them :( ,but in dade county where its illegal to own a pit bull you see SOOOOO MANY!And they are so popular with artist like DMX (rap) & movies

I got Didi from my mother's friend.Actually I never seen a papillon personally that I can remember, but I sure love looking at them, esp. their ears, they are in like in the top ten cutest dog.And I heard they have the greatest personality. If I ever owned one I bet there would never be a dull moment :P .Breeds are rare depending like in states. Some people might think a breed is rare in NY,but is very common in FL.I guess it all depends on the location.
-
Ok,when a drug dealer neglects a pit bull ok sadly, but its normal. But a pastor? :o !! I was shocked I guess nowadays there are all sorts of people mistreating their animals. :(
-
Yea,I was kinda worrying about dog's death in birth too.I watched that That's My Baby show where the chow died after having a c-section.I just don't want to take any risk, actually I was just thinking about the good outcomes.Well, thanks for the advice,I didn't think self-purpose breeding was BYB,sorry. But,thanks again. So no puppies from Didi :( .but maybe by spaying her it would prevent any deaths or bad ownership if I did intend to breed her.And I just called this shelter that has low-cost spaying, because our vet charges WAY too much.1 dog spayed(Cookie),2 more to go(Didi & new pup). :P
-
 Wishing Luck
-
Is it ok to breed your dog for self-purpose.I know its a LONG time (but you never know) until my dog dies, but before I spay her i would like an offspring off her,she once had a pup,I'm not sure if she could have a big litter, but if she does I will assure you they would get good homes. But,I would love to keep her genes & personality in my life as dog's don't have long life span, and I might outlive my dog,to not grieve as much,I would love an offspring. This is not a 100% thing that I would breed her,but just to get your opinion on this is it ok to breed for self-purpose?
-
I'm finding this pet ownership is very addictive!!!!You just can't have one french fry you gotta have them all!!2 cockatiels,1 parakeet,1 akita/german shepherd mix,1 rat terrier, and now a lab. :D Thanks 4 the congrats! And congrats on the papillon!! :D

 Three different breeds, toy fox terriers usually have bigger erect ears and the rat terrier usually has a shorter docked tailed.Tenterfield is also a different breed from both of them. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/ratterrier.htm http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/tenterfieldterrier.htm http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/toyfoxterrier.htm here's another look alike http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/teddyrooseveltterrier.htm When I first got Didi,I was confused all these breeds look exactly alike!! :-? Did you notice that all of them are terriers, inbred with the same breeds (smooth fox terrier, chihuahua, italain greyhound, and breed for the same purpose?! :o But,in the end we found out she was a rat terrier. My dog below.....

 AHHHHHHHH! I can't believe this, people at school are going to think my house is a zoo!!Not only did we had a rott (had to give away due to depressional problems) and now have a new dog,and my old dog we are getting a lab puppy!!!Not sure when, what sex, what color, but soon and oh boy.Today was the best, not only did I had the BEST time with my boyfriend,I'm getting a puppy!!This is too good to be true 6 pets,oh my god.Three dogs to take to the park.My sister was given the puppy as a b-day gift, but she lives in an apartment that doesn't allowed dogs.As we're the only relative that has a backyard and allows dogs (and a pack of dogs),guess who's gonna keep it!!And she really doesn't have the time for it.She just brought a Betta Fish, and thats all she really wants,no responsibility and she works alot. But this is great news. Will inform you with more info & pictures!!!
-

Are Rotweilers really as violent as the media tells us?
Nookie replied to a topic in Everything about dogs
Not rottweiler, but same situation From The Daily Bitch Why "Pit Bull" Bans are Bad By now, it is well-known that breed-specific bans do not work. Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, and Illinois have passed legislation prohibiting breed bans due to their ineffectiveness, and it is certain that other states will follow. The Alabama State Supreme Court ruled in 2003, concerning American Pit Bull Terriers (APBT), that "there was no genetic evidence that one breed of dog was more dangerous than another, simply because of its breed." In fact, the truth about pit bulls "according to the American Canine Temperament Testing Association, [is that] 95% of the American Pit Bull Terriers that took the temperament test passed, compared to a 77% passing rate for all breeds on average." Year after year, American Pit Bull Terriers have consistently scored 80% or higher on their temperament testing. This percentage is higher than dogs like Golden Retrievers, who are thought to be more mild-mannered than APBTs. Many are not aware that the "pit bull" problem in their community is a dog fighting issue and not a breed issue. Politicians often turn on the news at night and see another attack by a "pit bull" on a child or an animal and decide that they are going to get rid of these vicious dogs once and for all, and that soccer moms everywhere will be so grateful they'll re-elect them in a landslide victory. Politics is after all often about lies and fake veneers, so why tell the truth about "pit bulls," if they even know it in the first place? So maybe it's time to educate politicians and the public about these "pit bulls" that continue to be haphazardly banned. First, there is no breed called "pit bull." The slang term "pit bull" is often used to describe American Pit Bull Terriers, but there are also dogs that were bred to be fighters that are called "pit bulls," which encompass a handful breeds. Most people who've owned or worked with the dogs simply call them APBTs, AmStaffs, or Staffies, not "pit bulls," since the term "pit bull" is slang terminology most often used, or misused, by gang-bangers, dog fighters, and the media to incorporate several breeds of dog
