16. how do you get a dog to get better self confidence? to feel better, more secure and safe in a fairly new home? a few months ago i did a post about my sarah going nuts when i left. i got the comfort zone plug in and rescue remedy and stared doing the NILF thing it seemed to help a bit but she is still doing things that she never use to do befor we moved. she is doing submisive peeing which she hasnt done since she was little, the other day when we got home i let her have a little while to calm down so i could let her out and i told her like i always do to lay down and gave her the hand sign but she wouldnt lay down or sit down and stay so i could open the door i never changed the way i was standing or my voice and she started peeing in her kennel. it wasnt that she had to go we had only been gone a few hours and she had been out to do her stuff just before we left. just today my mother in law came over and i had something to show her and sarah was trying to jump on her and i was looking in a book and told her to get down, never yelled or raised my voice and she made a big puddle at my feet? she has started acting like she dont want to go in her kennel when we go but only on the first trip of the day, when we come back during the day to let them out and run for a bit then we put them up and go back to work there is no fit like the morning. she has started being afraid of storms she never did that. there are other things that she is doing but i cant think of them right now, i work with her she know some comands (sit, stay, laydown, sit up, stand up, crawl) and we play ball as much as she wants. i have tried to think of things that are different at this new house that would upset her and unfortunately the house is smaller then what we did live in and the kennels are in the room with the front door. she hasnt ever had anyone hurt her or someone other than people that she knows come in when she was in her kennel but this is the only thing that i can think of. i give her toys and chews and a bone with a treat to lick out of it none of it seems to help when we go the bone is clean when we get back so i know she has to calm down some while we are gone. i dont have anywhere else to put them. i just dont know what to do. im NOT thinking of getting rid of her or anything like that it is NOT something i can do. i promised her when i found her that she had a forever home but i want her to be happy and feel safe

19. one night i let my girls out and they went raceing down the stairs and under the deck and WHAM right in to the fence just barking like crazy!! :o it was so dark out side i couldnt see what it was that they were putting up such a fuss about so i got a light and looked around. there is a small tree that came up to about the bottom of the deck about 9ft i think and sitting in the very top was a young opossum.

21. at the shop where i went to get some dog food today the fellow in the store told us about a new paper that was being put out and this was the premier issue of 'Paw Prints' of kansas city and in it had this in it "LifeGem" the idea is to commemorate loved ones and be able to keep a part of them close. it is a dimond created from the ashes of your loved one. it can be .25c to 1.3 c. and faceted to your specifications, certifed as real. it takes about 18 weeks. www.lifegem.com also "WithMe Forever" scroll pendant or key chain. the artist that designed these products says that it is to hold a symbol(hair or pic) and a written affirmation of your unending connection www.withmeforever.com
22. we had to have our rotti put down when she was 11 years old and that was one thing we had thought about ... do we bring her home and put her to rest or something else. well the vet had a service where they creamated them and a beautiful spot where they scattered the ashes or you could take them and scatter them if you liked. they had seats around and you could go and visit with your loved pet anytime you wanted. that is what we did.
23. Shyanne, a med size girl, cream in color with a white heart on her forhead, only 2 yrs old, got hit by a car while I and my fellow at the time was gone only for a few hours. Unknow to me his father came in and the dogs got out. He never bothered to try to get them back in and she got hit. I was almost half way home and I "knew" something was wrong, didnt know what because she should have been safely put up. I found her shortly after I got home. I had her from the first day she was born and there was a special conection between us and I miss her greatly, still, 7 years later :bigcry: Im so happy that your is safely at home
24. Yes I think that parents should teach their childern about animals. I was a lucky one, i was told about animals. when i was around 10 my grandmas neighbors had 4 GS that were trained gard dogs and they had a good fence but one day 2 of their dogs got out and me and a friend was walking down the street next to their house. My friend ran lucky for her they hadnt seen her only me I froze and watched them but not looking them in the eye and with in min. the owner was outside to get them, they were good owners very concious of their pets. I was nervous but not fearful. I knew how they could sence fear.
25. At 27 I started forgeting my age had to think hard to tell someone! :great: I can give my dogs and cats ages (not to the exat dates) pretty quickly.
