we got him the first time when he was 1 and now he's 4 so i guess it was 3 years not 2. my sister tried to get him to do a simple "sit." he had his training collar on and my sister gave it a small tug to get his attention and thats when he turned around and bit her. he had obedience traing before we got him and it's only been a couple of days since we got him back. it was aggressive biting. everytime you try to get him to do something he snarls, he doesn't always bite but verytime he does growl. it not lack of socialization because he was like this before. our trainer knows the breeder we got him from. he didn't come from bad breeding and the breeder strives for good social skills, so it's not that. it's not fear because he was ready for the bite, it wasn't defensive or instinctive. i don't want him here. i've been attacked by a great pyrenees (not degrading the breed just stating a fact) and i'm not to fond of large dogs and this GSD is A LOT bigger than normal size for a GSD. My dad made sure he had plenty of food out there, i would blame this on the treatment he got from my dad except that the dog was like this before my dad got him. i don't know what to do. i don't want him here, i'm scared for myself, my family, and my other pets.

let me start from the beginning. about 2 years ago we got this huge male german shepherd. while we had him he bit my sister's foot and she had to go the ER. after that my mom gave the dog to my father, who doesn't live with us. my dad's dog started fighting with the GSD and my dad brought the dog out to his property and left the dog there. he occasionally went out there to fed and water him but nothing else. now you might sympathize with the dog and i do too to an extent. the GSD was aggressive when we had him before so being out there didn't cause this. anyway my mom told our trainer about the dog and she suggested to bring him up when we went for Tucker's training. so we ended up with him again and today he bit my sister's hand, she didn't have to go to the ER and it wasn't much of an attack but i can't stand it. my mom doesn't relize how dangerous he is. what about if my 4 year nephew comes over. i'm scared of this dog but have no say in his future and the one who does won't do anything. what do i do? i'm going to call our trainer tomarrow and seew what she thinks should be done. she breeds GSDs, our GSD didn't come from her, and has been a dog trainer for 17 years, so she knows dogs. sorry if too wordy , just to mad to shorten

Tucker's doing great, he's having a problem with trusting men so we're not sure if he's going to make threpy dog but if not he loves agility. We were at his training session and our trainer had her agility equipment up and he loved it. He loved the bridge and the hoop and made his own game out of it. I love this dog!

our trainer for Tucker said he can pass the CGC test and then we'll be able to start his therepy training but what does CGC mean?

We are training our old english sheepdog mix puppy for therepy work. at the start he was terror, chewing up things when while he was younger nevertouched, growling, and not listening, our trainer said it's because he's losing dominance we thought he never had. apparently dogs show dominance in a lot of ways whether we humans look at it as dominance or not. anyways he's finally showing progress. he's not running off, not growling, and listening, the chewing is still a problem but at least he's getting better so there's hope he'll quit.

We got this purebred old english sheepdog about last fall. First we couldn't figure why the gave us her for free. a few weeks after we got her she showed signs of being pregnant. apartently she was free because she was going to have puppies. next time we'll be more causious about a dog. any way she had 4 adorable puppies. only one looked like an old english. we kept only him since we couldn't add 4 more dogs to the family. As he grew he bacame shaggier but not with the old english fur. i found a picture of an otterhound and besides the different coloring he looked exactly like it. we still can't figure out why he has gray eyes. most dogs have brown some have blue but i've never seen a dog with gray eyes. he's the smartest little guy. always wanting to learn. anyway i just wanted to know if anyone knows about otterhounds.

Sandy, my dog, is a little lab mixed maybe with border terrier. She's 7 years old. we just got a snake and we took it out to show my 4 yr old nephew. Sandy was curious and jumped onto the couch to sniff at the new family member. suddenly she slipped off the edge and onto the floor. the poor dog landed on the back of her legs and then backwards. she didn't cry out but was obviously in great pain. While my mom was looking for the vet's # Sandy started to go into shock. She began to shake and breathe hard. We quickly drove to the animal hospital. the vet said she had stretched the ligament in her back leg. Sandy isnow on medication for pain. the vet said the ligament could still rupture so now she's on bed rest. she is kept in the kitchen so she can't rough house with our puppy she may be older but still acts like a puppy) And she has to be carried downthe steps to the yard. Our biggest concern s that this could result in arthritis.

well u see? i was only 6 yrs old at the time so tachnically i didnt put her down my parents did[/quote]

yes it is wrong though i just had a litter you see we just got this female dog not even 2 months ago and found out she was pregnant before we got her. we got her from this woman. so we now know why they got rid of her is because they didn't want to mess with the puppies. if that woman would have just fixed the dog in the fist place. this will be her last litter seeing as how when the puppies grow old enough we are going to do the right thing and fix her

i say give the dog another chance. ive benn attacked by a dog before and we put it asleep but now i know it was my fault and a lot of the times but not all it's the person's fault and children at that age don't know any better so it's up to their parents to watch out for them and in this case they didn't

i despise the show i just know that some of the people breed their pet just for the show. also some of the things the people to impress the audiance is stupid and unessesary.
