Was walking along, Alfie & Scoobie in and out of the bushes, when all of a sudden I had something wet lick my hand I looked down and there was this lab with his gungy toungue all over my hand. The owner appeared and said that the dog is also whistle trained and reacted to my whistle, and of course he smelt the liver treats :D

Both Alfie and Scoobie do it, but at the moment Scoobie (8 wks old) is the clear winner with stinkiest ones

Just sat down for a cup of coffee at the doggie restaurant after our morning walk, and started to read the paper when I saw this sickening story. "A puppy was killed by having its legs taped together and mouth sealed with tape, and was thrown off a motorway bridge into trafic. It was a Lab x" What sort of sickoes are these people. They are the scum of the earth.

He's such a quick learner, I only started to do the handshake thing the day before
-
How do I teach Alfie to bring back something when I have thrown
-
When we had Alfie, he was already trained to come to the sound of the whistle. (We had him when he was 16 weeks old) We still use this method, and he reacts straight away every time. How do we actualy train Scoobie to react. Will he learn from Alfie, in as much that when I whistle and Alfie comes, if Scoobie comes and I reward him is this sufficiant,

When we take delivery of "Scoobie", he will be 8 wks old. I can see 2 problems. I work from home, but Monday's and generaly from 3pm - 8pm I am busy teaching. So I don't want Scoobie running around messing up the place. And also I want to avoid any problems with Alfie and the pup Alfie being soooo boisterous. I've heard a lot about dog cages, and am thinking of getting one untill Scoobie is house trained. I would like your input on these please i.e. what sort of cages are best etc. I am aware some of you are against cages, but it is only short term until house trained I would also want to take him with us when we walk Alfie, obviously he would be carried until the final jabs. BUT, what if we are somewhere in the forrest and he needs to do his stuff, can I put him down?
-
Mind you I don't think you could get another character like Alfe, he's a one off.
You can say that again
-
Thanks guys. We'll wait until he has had all the jabs before taking him out. Better safe than sorry

This is Scoobie our new puppy, which we can pick up on the B/H weekend. He is 6 weeks old, and has the same father as Alfie, which makes them half brothers

Out and about today, and a lady appeared with a liver and white springer the same age as Alfie. They had a whale of a time running together and having fun. Alfie normaly totaly ignores other dogs, but was realy taken to this one. It was a bitch, but Alfie wouldn't know what to do anyway (had the snip) The more we think about it the more we want another one. Although I keep looking into other breeds, we keep coming back to, wait for it "SPRINGERS" Keep watching this space. We are mad mad mad
