1. Hi all, In a previous message I had stated that my sister Rott was going to have pups. My sister, against my best trying to talk her out of it speech, bred her Rott. Grrrrr! I am not happy about that. But, onto the matter at hand. The pups were born last night. One was born dead, one is doing great. Yep, there were only two. I live 1000 miles away...so I am just going on what I am told. Needless to say, my sister is very upset...this was suppose to be her bread and butter money, ya know? She is dissappointed that there will be no money now, as the one pup has to go to the owner of the male she bred with. As much as I hate to see my sister sad.....I do have to say this, God works wonders!! He knew she wasn't breeding for the right reasons, and well, I feel He did what was right...he didn't let there be many pups! Here is where I am asking for your thoughts/prayers. My sister is going to ask the guy to take her female in place of the pup. I am not sure if she will then keep the pup or sell it. And if he won't then she is going to sell her female. So, either way...the poor female loses out big time. This dog ADORES my sister. Baby (the dog) watches her every move. She knows what to do and how to behave just based on how my sister is acting/feeling. I feel so terrible for this dog....as it adores my sister and is about to be sent off to live with strangers in a couple of weeks. Baby has been with her since birth....she is about 1 1/2 yrs old now. I just pray for Baby and for her pup.....may they both get a loving home! Baby so deserves to go to someone who will not want to give her up every other week when life isn't going the way they want it, ya know? Poor puppers!!!
2. While I do not like to see a dog PTS/killed over an ACCIDENT.....the way the story made this sound.....the dogs were 'playing', so that leads me to wonder why they attacked the girl in such a terrible manner. Something was off, the dogs should not have attacked like that. NO CHILD SHOULD EVER BE LEFT ALONE WITH DOGS LIKE THAT......but, we have to take into consideration the childs age. Would I leave my 11 year old alone with my lab/beagle mix while I was inside the house and they were outside, yes.....because I feel he is responsible with the dog. I do take precautions, especially never leaving my dog alone with my 1 and 3 yr olds. But, 11 years old is getting into the 'questionable' range of when and how long the child can be left alone with a dog. My point here is, lets say the dog was sleeping and the child startled it and the dog bit her on the face and immediately showed remorse and was licking her hand, etc etc......the dog most definately in my opinion should not be put down. But in this case, I have to wonder.......of course I would want more FACTS to go on before making a decision.....but right now I am kind of leaning towards the dogs being put down....they really attacked this girl big time, not just one bite because they were startled. I do not know....maybe the dogs were protecting their 'home/kennel'....there could be many circumstances, so it really is hard to say what the fate of the dogs could be. Either way, in the end....all lose out. Very sad indeed!
3. K...I know what you mean. I have been thinking of Sherri every hour, wondering how she is doing, if she is holding up, if she is crying right now. It is just so sad. I am so sorry for your loss as well....I read it on another post but got caught up in posting to Sherri. I know it must be so hard on you to go through these feelings with Sherri. My FIL lost his 15 year old son five years ago (or was it 6--time goes so fast :( ) and he is still trying to overcome the grief and depression. My heart truly goes out to all who has ever lost someone, especially a child. Anyways....chin up girl! Things will look up and work out for the best! Thinking of you....
4. Sorry, I meant K......lol I am so used to using KJS for her name!
5. Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and your husband! I sure hope something works out for you soon......or maybe something already has? You are in my thoughts, dear friend!
6. Thank you all for your replies. I did find a few things to post. And have gotten some support from others on the site.........but there are still many there who believe the pit to be a beast and should be pts. Some go as far as to say that parents should be ashamed of allowing a pit to be in the same house as their children  . I have posted all I can there......it is not turning ugly so I am wishing them all the best. I have stated 'punish the deed, not the breed' and will have to hope that my articles will change atleast one mind. **sigh** Thanks again for your help! Oh, and no.....my area is not banning pits, thank goodness! I do not have one now, but someday in the future would like to. :) I do live on the boarder of OH, and we all know how bad they are with BSL! uggghhh
7. I need info ASAP on the myth of the locking jaw of the pitbull. Also, looking for a statistical list which shows which breeds are more likely to bite, in order. And need rebuttle for people who think pits should be banned due to their 'bite' being worse than the bite of a poodle, etc. Ugghhhh, when will people learn to punish the deed and not the breed. THANK YOU!!!
8. LOL!! In our house, not only do we now have to sneak snacks when the skin kids aren't looking, but we also have to sneak them when our fur baby isn't around! Guess it makes for a good diet, having kids and dogs, eh?? LOL
9. I'm so sorry to hear she is not doing well. I am a new member and do not know the whole reasoning behind her not doing well.......but none the less, I wish her only the best!!! Sure hope she starts to improve soon---what a cutie she is!
10. You all have gorgeous pups!!!! So many have melted my heart! Now, when I figure out how to post pics--I'll show ya mine, LOL! (I've been reading the tutorial here about pics, still trying to get it to work though :P )
