I can't submit a vote to this as I think that both are equally to blame in these cases
This might be a late responce but I agree with K fully.
2. I totally agree with ya Rott'n'Pit. Owning a "Pitbull" type of dog is a full time job. You have to be willing to spend time with the dog EVERY day 24/7/365. I concider my APBT to be one of my kids because he gos to training classes and his and my homework are practice training daily. Pitbulls are not for everyone. They might have the right intentions but if they don't have the time they will do more harm then good not to mention to many people get them for the wrong reasons. They don't look at the trates the Pitbulls have and realize that this breed may not be right for them. In the right hands Pitbulls are the kindest, sweetest, gentalist dogs I can think of. Personally I think breeders should be more responsible about who gets there dogs and where there dogs are going. Alot already do this but the ones that don't have there good intention dogs becomeing backyard breeding dogs. I do the same thing when I go out in public. I try to keep in mind the old saying "NEVER TRUST YOUR PIT NOT TO FIGHT". Even if someone else's dog come over and trys to start something you will get looked at as the ashole. I've gone into petsmart and had people look at me funny because someone elses dog was barking away at mine and my pit would start wagging its tail and wineing like he was saying "can I go play daddy" but there have been time when he just sat there looking at the other dog like he was saying "Ya talk your stuff from over there, why don't you come just a little closer" I'm glad there are a lot of resonsible Pitbull owner in the world but we have a lot to do to RIGHT the WRONGS of the irresonsible owners.

Got this off another forum I'm on
www.purebredpuppy.com] Dog attacks spark national campaign, local lobbying Oct 30, 2003 Lisa Queen, Staff Writer - More from this author A national campaign urging municipalities to place stricter controls on aggressive dogs is a good idea, the owner of a dog attacked by a pitbull this month says. The campaign comes on the heels of an attack near Stouffville last weekend that left an 11-year-old girl seriously injured. Allan Smith, of Newmarket, said a rash of vicious dog attacks in York Region in the past four months proves stronger tactics are needed to address the problem. "It's unnerving with these dogs in communities with people and children around," said Mr. Smith, whose dog, Jasper, is still recovering from the attack. "But it's not just something that's happened lately. These things happen all the time." He's pleased to hear the Canada Safety Council is urging politicians and communities to beef up measures against aggressive dogs and their owners. "The system relies on owners to be responsible. What if they aren't? It doesn't seem anybody has gone to the effort to put the rules in place to protect people and other animals," said Mr. Smith, who is lobbying council candidates to enact stricter dog control bylaws if they are elected Nov. 10. "My experience is less than enthusiastic in what municipalities or authorities are willing or prepared to do." Mr. Smith was forced to beat off a pitbull with the blunt end of an axe after it bit Jasper's neck during an unprovoked attack early this month. The owner has been charged by Newmarket's bylaw department. Meanwhile, Mr. Smith is asking the courts to order the pitbull be destroyed since the dog was already under a muzzle order after biting a woman in 2001. The attack was just the latest in a string of vicious dog incidents in the region since July. York Regional Police have shot and killed two aggressive dogs including:
They are trying to bring this law to the area I live in, but I doubt it will pass as there no problems with Pit Bulls here
Just because there are no problems doesn't mean that someone wont try. Do you have any plans for getting the other Pitbull owner around your area and in the city that has a restriction together and fight BSL?
6. amen, after getting an APBT there is no other dog I'd rather have.

I totally do not support BSL. BSL basically says that ALL dogs of a certain breed are bad. Here is a link to Californias dog laws http://www.rott-n-chatter.com/rottweilers/laws/california.html
8. I originally wanted to get a newfinland but when I saw this little APBT pup of just 12 weeks old I fell in love with it and get him fast. Now there is no other dog I'd rather have then an American Pitbull Terrier.
9. Call you local animal shelters, rescues and SPCA's. There was a small town here in California that was thinking of a Pitbull ban but was easyly stoped. The Pitbull owner that gave the speech to the city countcell call all the shelters and spca's he could from around his area. Funny thing is that the most often animal that was doing the biting was CAT'S!
10. From what I was told when I first got my APBT was that they (Pitbulls) are all the same just a different name. When the AKC started registring "Pitbulls" they didn't want dog fighting associated with them so they called the APBT an Amstaff. But I've have read alot of info that says other wise. I guess it depends on who you talk to. I wish I could help more but I'm still new to the APBT thing (and I thought I was done learning after high school, lol).

Pit Bull Prayer

I know this is an old thread but I'm new here. Lovely poem.
12. awfully cute but nope its not a pit.
13. From what I've seen with other dogs that acked this this is because the dog was definately abused by a male and doesn't trust males at all. It will take some time but like stated above, start out giving her treats. Maybe start doing this when your wife is there and when your wife is not there get down on your knees about 5 to 10 feet from her and lightly toss some treats to her saying is a very soft and comforting voice here ya go. Each time you toss a treat have it land closer to you. Let her come to you to get the treats. If she is 10 feet from you and you toss the treat 5 feet from you but she wont come to get it, get up and move back. Let her get to trust you. Don't try to rush it. It will take time.
14.
BSL is going to continue for as long as there are irresponsible owners. its the owners of the dogs fault this happened. The dogs shouldnt have been running around freely. Another mark against the APBT because of irresponsible owners. Maybe there should be a law passed to shoot them on site!
I agree with you. Its not a matter if the dogs were Pitbulls or not, its a matter that an irresponsible DOG owner let this happin. I do think there should be harsher laws aimed towards dumbass owner but in this case the guys is going after "PITBULL's" not dogs in general. So we need to standup and stop this. Now if they inact a "30-30" law, well, then I guess ALL dog owners should be responsible or face what happins.
15. http://www.purebredpuppy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6272&start=0 Please read this thread and help out if possible. Pitbull owner are having to defend the breed again in a start where BSL is against state law.
