1. I"ve used Pepto often for my dogs. Just a hint - use the caplets and NOT the liquid, unless you want strange abstract pink designs on your walls, furniture, etc. For a 100lb dog, you can give two or three caplets a couple time a day.
2. Umm..I had a cat who was allowed to sit on my lap at the dinner table, and pick delicacies from my plate, much to my husband's horror and disgust. :D I also let cats lick my ice cream cones. I also put the dinner plates on the floor for Chloe to clean before I put them in the dishwasher. I don't do this when I have non-doggy people over. These people seem to think dishes should be thrown in the garbage if an animal touches them. As for animal hair on food - I've probably eaten so much cat/dog hair I'm surprised I don't get a hairball!!
3.
One of the funniest things Buck has done happened just recently. I had to leave him in the car to run into the grocery store and I just happened to have an empty McDonald's bag on my front seat. I came back to the car, opened the door and greeting me is a dog with a McDonald's bag covering his entire head. He just stood there wagging his tail and going in for kisses with that dumb bag stuck on his head. I don't know how he got it so far onto his head without tearing it!
Now that's funny!!
4.
prepares to be slammed for dog abuse
You should see the abuse (well, "abuse" according to my dog) that goes on in my house at BATH time! :o
5.
That is the first thing I look for when I go to evaluate or pick up a Pit Bull. I want the dog to immediately greet me (even though he has never seen me before) with a butt wiggle and a smile. I want him to tell me with his body language "Hey I don't know you, but I love you anyway!!"
That is a perfect description of my Chloe, except she says "I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU SOOOOO MUCH!" to any person nearing my house. World's worst watchdog. Anyone could steal her, and in fact she would trample me to get to any person at my door. I consider her temperament to be ideal for her breed.
6.
When I am teaching my classes lead pulling is the most common problem that owners have to deal with. We start off by getting the dogs attention using food, with the dog always on the left leg of the handler. The handler steps off on the left foot and walks fast. If the dog isn't interested at all in food and is pulling way ahead then a fast direction change is done calling the dogs name. This is continued up and down the training hall until the dog starts thinking whoa I'm getting no where pulling like this, and the dog will then start paying attention to the handler to judge when the handler is going to make the turn. It then turns into a catch up game with the dog keeping pace with the handler to attempt to judge when the turn is going to come. This exercise keeps their brains active (both dog and handler!), and is a great way I have found to prevent dogs from pulling. The important thing to remember is not to support the dog and a tight lead, as this encourages the dog to pull.
This is the method I used to stop my pit bull from pulling. She had no training when I got her, and the pulling was unbelievable! The exercise you have outlined really works.:)
7. OH I understand! I'm with a cat rescue, and right now we have 4 of the most GORGEOUS and scrumptious Manx kittens you have ever seen!! I wanted to bring one (or two or three!) home with me.... sigh...but with 3 cats and a pit bull already, I had to restrain myself.:( I hope your brother in law will get his cat spayed, if it's his cat who had these kittens.
8.
Why do you think it is not genetic?
I guess because there was no mention of this dog showing any temperament problems until it was subjected to daily abuse by this other person. Since this dog wasn't being bred and had never bitten anyone and was very young, I think killing it without making any attempt to solve the problem was a little hasty. JMO.
9. Just my .02 cents worth, but I think that someone who would enjoy verbally and emotionally abusing a dog in the owner's presence would do a lot worse than that when the owner was absent.:( Fear aggression does take a lot of time and patience to work through, but when it's situational as in this case, and not genetic, I would think it would be workable. After all, if people who wear red shirts (for example) always come up to you and hit you in the face, it wouldn't take long for you to be defensive and fearful of anyone wearing red.
10. A big CONGRATS to you and Cassie!! :D
11. What a traumatic horrible thing for you to experience.:( That's so very sad.
12.
he looks like he belongs in PlayDog!!
 Poor baby - that is scandalous!!
13. ((((Haley & Goo)))))) OH, cruel, cruel..... :( Edited to say - I forgot about ((((Annie)))). Poor little hot dog.
14. It's very difficult to know what really happened. I had an old dog go in for tooth cleaning, and he came home barely able to walk. He had arthritis and the position he was in while anesthetized aggravated it. I had a cat at the vet for a couple days and HE came home with swollen, irritated eyes with hair missing under them and his nose scraped. He had been so freaked out at being kept in a cage, he did the damage himself while rubbing against the cage bars. The little Pom sounds like she already had a lot of issues with fear and nervousness and I'm sure the vet visit and procedures didn't help. I would talk to the vet anyway, just to put your mind at ease. I did that in both cases I mentioned.
15.
I have a mental image now of a wonderful wombat doing agility
Yes, quite a sight to see. The hurdles just have to be lowered to about 3" off the ground.
16. "Mommy, mommy, my hood is too TIGHT!!" Disclaimer: This Chloe dog was not abused in the making of this pic, other than the humiliation of wearing a tacky coat. Her eyes are not actually bugged out. Her owner was inept at using Photo Editing.
17.
Nobody said mei-mei had to expose her school history. She chose to do it (as is her right, of course) as a way to try to bolster her credibility
And why on earth would Mei-Mei need to "bolster her credibility" to someone who has absolutely NO credibility whatsoever? A person who makes wild claims like "My wombat has 7 titles." "Pit bulls are trapped nearly every day rampaging in zoos," "I speak out against dog fighting",and on and on go the fantastic claims you make, and not once have you backed anything up. In fact, if anyone has the audacity to ask for proof, they are told to "stop whining", correct? One thing (among many) I don't understand about you - your dog was killed by a Kerry Blue Terrier, right? So why aren't you trolling and berating responsible Kerry Blue owners? Oh, and MY dog has 8 titles, so there! Of course I can't prove this, because I fear being tracked down and stalked by creepy, spittle-spraying and overly verbose Wombat owners.
18. OH yeah? Well MY dog has won EIGHT titles as the most Diligent Crumbsucker Kitchen dog.:) Primmy, wombats cannot enter dog competitions. You aren't being truthful, are you?
19. OMG I am dying from cuteness attack! That little baby is just too precious for words!!
20. Hypoglycemia is not unusual in teeny Chi puppies. If someone else posted this or I am repeating advice, sorry. I didn't read the whole thread. This is from a Chi site:
Hypoglycemia is a condition in which the chihuahua's blood sugar level drops to an extremely low level, causing "sugar shock." When levels of glucose in the blood drop rapidly, the dog's body and brain are deprived of essential nutrients. The results of hypoglycemia can be weakness, seizures, coma, and in severe cases, death. Because chihuahuas are so small, they can be prone to hypoglycemia, especially when they are very young. Hypoglycemia is usually caused by stress, illness, lack of food, or by using up stored energy without it being replenished. It is important to make sure that young puppies and very tiny chihuahuas eat regularly throughout the day. Another preventative for hypoglycemia is regular feeding of a high-calorie supplement called Nutrical, available from your veterinarian or your local pet store. If you suspect that your chihuahua is hypoglycemic, call your vet AT ONCE as this condition can be quickly fatal.
21. Prim, could you *pretty please* learn to use the "QUOTE" feature on this board? The fact that you are unable to master it is making your posts even more nonsensical than usual. I'm sure if you ask politely, someone on this board will explain it to you in simple terms. Thank you for your cooperation.:) And I'm sure it's very kind of you to worry about cheekymunkee's dogs, who are suffering so much in her home, but really, between all the time you spend Googling yourself for tragic pit bull stories, and the time you spend writing book length posts full of ...repetitive crapola - how do you have time to lavish attention on your Wombat and your Bulgarian Downsnout??
22. You gave her cow's milk? Please do not give cow's milk to puppies or kittens. It just gives them loose stools, and a puppy as tiny as this could dehydrate very rapidly. If this puppy has diarrhea and is not drinking, I suggest you take her to the vet very soon.
23. Just when I thought P-ness couldn't get any nuttier or more hysterical, I find pit bulls being compared to prolific serial killer Ted Bundy. Wow. Get a grip, Primorse!! Oh, I forgot that you call one animal killing another "murder". Sorry about that.
24. Shenanigans, that is an excellent post. As for Primm's "law"about unregistered pit bulls - she expects a special task force to be formed, and go from door to door, with portable scanner and ultrasound equipment in hand checking pit bulls for uterii, testicles and microchips. They must also demand registration papers. In PrimWorld this may be possible, but she is obviously unaquainted with the real world.

Thanks for saving that poor baby!! How could someone see a puppy in the street and do nothing....??
