Daisysmom (yes, I know this is OFF TOPIC), but I just have to say what a beautiful signature pic you have!!

Unfortunately, that is way too common. There are pet owners out there who help give that perception though. Around where I live, there's a tall young man who owns 2 muscular black (and impressive looking) pit bulls. We walks them with a thick chainlink around their neck and lets them lead as though he were holding the reigns on a horse. Now, as he walks, OF COURSE, everybody gets out of his way -- and I mean out!!. What does the idiot do? He smiles and looks proud that people are intimidated by his dogs. He walks them in a menacing way, and I sincerely believe he enjoys how other people fear them. All his doing is ruining the reputation of a lovable breed (in the right hands). I'm sorry you went through that with your pet. That's sad.

They are purebreeds but I do not believe she shows them. They sure are beautiful. You know what surprises me about flat-coats? That they are so smart and pick up commands so easily. Lady sure amazes us. I just know I will always have a flat-coated retriever in my life. We're lucky to have her.

I agree that its good to hear about professional breeders -- we need more of them. I can't imagine being 3 weeks without my fur-kids, but you did the right thing :)

Hi Mary :) That was me. The registration for the July contest has ended, but then there are always future contests, and your fur-kids will surely be included. Those pictures are adorable!! Did you see the Jack Russell named Mickey we once featured at the site? What a cutie. Wait until you all meet these fur-kids, we have such an adorable bunch entered in this one.

Well...the beach was out since it started pouring, but we still got to have a nice get together at my Dad's house (Daddy is almost 80) so it was really nice.

For everyone that is a Daddy -- Happy Father's Day!! :) I'm going to the beach for the entire day with my Hubby :)

I've never owned a Border Collie but an ex-boss of mine has two and he works 8 hours at day. The 2 of them have the run of the house and they appear to be well-adjusted and happy dogs. That's a tough decision to make though, just go with your gut feeling on that one.

Pits look intimidating and that scares a lot of persons who don't take the time to really get to know the dog. It's a shame that backyard breeders and puppy bills (and the media) have given this breed such a bad rap.

Well done Gusto. :) Educating people is extremely hard. A large percentage of the general population does not know where pet stores get the puppies from. If they could only see behind the scenes -- it's tragic :(
