1. Personally, I like to do the training myself. But, if you have not done any training and are not comfortable doing the training yourself, there is nothing wrong with sending him to school. I have known a few dogs that have been sent to school and turned out great. The schools then spend time showing/telling the owners the commands and things...it all seems to work out either way. Just make sure that you check the school out and maybe get some references.
2. Please do as Hobbitt says and post to www.bordercollie.org. There are some very knowledgeable people on that board. I have a bc/mix but I have learned alot. Charlotte is my rescue from a border collie rescue, one that actually will take in the mixes and find them homes. Make sure to post in the correct section though. Do not post in the general section as many non herding folks frequent that section and the actual shepherds don't get there as much. Also, I agree that finding a herding home would be ideal and some of the folks on that board may be of help but of course you should put the stipulation that no matter she does not get shipped around to another home. And I am a doggie sports home so I can understand wanting to do doggie sports... I am even starting my own flyball team. Good luck and thanks for being a rescuer...
3. Hobbitt, It is still creeping but it has slowed down a lot finally. Guess it may stop soon...nothing like having a 4 year old dog that is changing colors :) I am starting a new flyball team so when that website is up and running I will make sure to pass on the new website. I plan to put up some new pictures.
4. Yes my dogs love flyball and it is a lot of fun. Personally, I think the creeping red makes Foster look unique which I like. She does not look like every other acd out there, even though they all look pretty different...When I decide to get another acd, I will go back to the same breeder and I will hope I will get another with creeping red.
5. Hobbitt mentioned my dog Foster and her creeping red. Yes, she looks like she is half red and half blue...she is a freak of nature. You can see a picture of her by going to www.flyball-fbi.com and checking out her profile. There is also a picture in there where you can see her sides. She is colored very similar to a german shepherd but is 100% acd and her whole family was blue and not red. Of course, I think she is gorgeous.
