  1. DO NOT use cotton buds at all. Use Cotton balls. Cotton buds are dangerous and you don't need to poke into the ears.
  2. Sorry to tell you this but neither you nor your brother are looking after the animals responsibly. The cats should be confined when the dogs are out and the dogs should be being brought out of their kennels for training and exercise when the cats are confined. If the dogs are breaking out of the kennels then they are not being housed properly. I hope these dogs are being walked and trained but I fear not. Animals are a responsibility and you should be treating them with care and respect and not leaving them to their own devices.
  3. Dad4duchess , what's the matter with the first picture. It looks OK to me.
  4. An immediate trip to the vet.
  5. A cotton wool ball moistened in warm water.
  6. She looks like a very beautiful girl to me.
  7. 4 days is a long time for bowel problems. I would take the dog to the vet is she is not completely back to normal.. Diarrhoea and then after a day or so straining it could be an obstruction. Is she OK now.
  8. You need to add panels to the top of your fence angling inwards. You should know where your dog is at all times. You may be a party animal and like a carload of drunks but your dog is a dog. Not only should your dog not be roaming but it should not be eating scraps at a barbeque. What about if it picked up a chop bone and caused an intestinal blockage. Go party all you like girl but make sure your dogs are safe first.

    rotti behavior

I have a female Rott who is 20 months. She is my second Rott so I know what you mean. The advice to train your dog is the best advice you will ever receive. Rotts are intelligent dogs and need to be trained to live in a human environment. If you don't teach your dog what you want IN A MANNER HE CAN UNDERSTAND then he won't know what it is you require of him. My girl is obedience trained and will continue with obedience into the distant future. I can't imagine a time when both of us will not enjoy it. This breed is easily trained and they are fast learners, they love it because they love to please you but they need to know how. Please enrol your dog in obedience classes so that he will be the best he can be. You will have fun and will have a dog you can trust and rely upon to do what you want.
  10. Aroura, I have no doubt you love your dogs. You show that in every post but it is always a dicey situation renting with dogs. Some landlords have a no animal clause in their lease. What a pity Dad is moving away from the family home. I wish you all the best of luck and hope all goes well for you and your beloved dogs.
  11. I guess the moral of this story is don't get a dog unless you have a forever home yourself. One of my sons left home for a short period of time and bought a Rottweiler pup. After the housing arrangements fell through the dog was then brought to me and I already had 3 dogs. The Rottweiler was the most beautiful dog I have ever had BUT he should not have bought this dog because he could not give it a forever home. Everyone in my family learned from this and none of the other children have bought a dog until they owned a house. Renting is often a very temporary situation. Many dogs end up in shelters because their owners can not keep them in renting situations. Aurora is lucky her Mother came to the rescue.
  12. Golly, you are right. I never thought about the hemaphrodite aspect. I have a friend who had a dog like this (RIP the dog, not the friend). She had the dog desexed but I don't know whether it was a neuter or a spay. My friend called the dog 'he' all of his life. I would suggest that desexing the new puppy prior to the age of 6 months would be a good idea. I'm sure you will love this new puppy regardless of his ambiguous sex.
  13. Good heavens!!! If the pup is a male it will have a penis some way up it belly/abdomen. If it is a female it will have a vulva at the junction of its back legs. I would suggest that you get some books on taking care of a puppy and learn, learn, learn. I couldn't desex a chicken but I'm pretty darn good at recognising the sex of a puppy.
