Why do my dog eat poop?

Possibly because of something lacking in his diet or the food he is eating contains so much junk that his body isn't digesting it properly.

I would switch to a better quality food.

Some dogs just do it. As disgusting as it is it is perfectly natural. My vet suggested adding a small sprinkle of Adolf's Instant Meat Tenderizer to their food to stop it. It has the same ingredient in it that the stuff you purchase from a vet or pet store has. Just use it sparingly, it is really salty. It takes about 3 days before you start seeing results.

Actually, they do it because when they are young they dont have some enzyme or germ (or something I cant remember) that they need in the stomach. The mother usually pushes the puppies to eat her poop so they get this enzyme.
Plus I think dogs actually like to eat poop......
