kristicounselor Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 My AKC registered Norwegian Elkhound was killed on my property in my driveway by the UPS Truck. He was 11 years old and part of the family. No one was there to witness the incident, except the UPS truck driver, he says that the dog somehow ended up under his back tire!! Anyway, the insurane company is wanting to settle and I don't really know what to do. My children have been very upset about the whole thing, I have had difficulty concentrating and getting things done, b/c I am upset about this whole mess. I was wondering if anyone else had been through something similar and what the results were. I loved my dog just don't know what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks. Quote
GreyhoundMama Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 Sorry for your loss. :( I don't know what you should do. If your dog was loose, I doubt anyone could fault the driver. If someone let him out of a fenced area, or somesuch, perhaps you have a case. But I'm not sure what you're asking about insurance settlement? Quote
JackieMaya Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I'm very sorry you lost your beloved dog. Quote
DogPaddle Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I'm sorry to hear of your loss. If he got out of the enclosed area and no one is known to be at fault for that then there isn't much you could do, although I imagine UPS will pay the cost of a registered Nor. Elkhound. Not that that will make much of a difference. All I can suggest is take your time grieving for your dog before going and getting another one. And maybe see about a lock for the enclosure before then, in case someone else came along and let your dog out for some reason. Quote
