__crazy_canine__ Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 CNN Its safe for anyone to watch... they censored the images since its for the news. Poor dogs...      A short summary: Apparently about 50-60 evacuees were told they could bring pets with them and after 3 days of being sheltered at a St. Bernard Parish middle school, they were informed otherwise. People were very upset obviously, and even wrote on the walls which pets were theirs and contact information to get them back. When the evacuees left, someone shot 14 dogs that were left at the school. (IMO, there were probably more considering the amount of people there.) The type of bullets found were the same kind that the police use. The sheriff suggests it may have been somone else but doesnt deny the possibilty that it was his deputies. Sherrif Jack Stephens states, " [I'm] certainly not prepared to say, uh, without reservation, that it wasnt one of our officers that did it, but what I do know is that it is a dispicable act, and someone who did this has some imperfection in their psyche and if that someone is a law enforcement officer, they cant be in this business. Theyre in the wrong business." Quote
behle Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Very depressing... I keep thinking about how I would feel if one of my boys were shot to death for no reason at all. Losing my furkids on top of possibly losing my home would be too much to bear. Quote
leahluvsherpups Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 You know what really blows about that situation is that they were allowed to take thier pets to the school but when they forced evacuation from it, they couldn't take thier pets with them. I would have stayed with my babies and the rest of them despite the orders. I can fight ya know. Really, I would have risked being shot than leave my dogs. Quote
