DogPaddle Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 So I'm moving and the yard is small. We go for walks a couple times a day and such but the dogs do eliminate in the yard sometimes - usually a quick pee before I leave the house and their last trip out for the night. I need a good solution for keeping the yard as ordour free as possible and as easy to clean as possible. Here is my situation: -I pick up daily and wash the yard down weekly with a water and bleach or enzyme thingy. -Zaphod hates to walk in the yard when it has rained so he often pees right by the door which is sheltered by the roof overhang. -My side fences are wooden, the back fence is going to be constructed this week I think. -Kavik cocks his leg and pees up on things like the fence, Zaphod doesn't. So I'm thinking I may: -Put in an area with some shelter so Zaphod will pee there. -Put in a peepost. -Put in a pea gravel area and train them to eliminate there. Has anyone heard of this? How deep should it be? Does it actually help or does it make it worse? Any suggestions? Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I have a gravel area it's for rain drainage which Tiggie uses by choice it saves getting her feet wet. I don't use bleach just disinfectant Quote
DogPaddle Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 Is it more or less smelly than other areas? Quote
schippsmom Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 :Dog_run: I know someone who uses the gravel and it doesn't smell. She hoses it down about once a week and uses a disinfectant. If there is a good rain she waits a little longer to hose it. It works great for them. Quote
