JackieMaya Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 We had a huge storm this evening with torrential rains and straight line winds of about 65 mph. It sounds like my burb got hit the worst. My city's police chief is strongly advising no travel on any of the roads due to downed power lines, downed trees, flooded streets and broken gas mains. I called a friend of mine (on her cell phone) who lives a few miles from my house, and she said they don't have any power and they lost some big trees from their yard. And she said that there are LOTS of power lines down. And with the power out in the whole city, I wouldn't be able to see them. It's time to leave work now, and I'm thinking I might have to stay at a hotel until daylight, which would mean that the three stooges will have to be stuck in the house for what will probably end up being about 12-15 hours with no food or toilet (I love that line from "Meet the Parents") by the time I can get back there. I know it won't kill them to have to be in the house that long, but I feel so bad making them do that. I know they wouldn't want to pee or poop in the house, but if I'm gone as long as 15 hours, I don't think they could hold it. Another concern about going home in the dark is what if there's a power line down in the back yard and I can't see it? I wouldn't want to take the chance on letting them out in the yard with a possible downed power line! I live about two blocks off the freeway, so I think I'll see if I can get to my house. If I can't, then I'll just have to hole up somewhere until daylight. Wish me luck! You might not be hearing from me until I get to work Thursday evening if the power is still out at home. Quote
