How do you manage?!

My friend will be a mom in a month or so. We've been discussing how she's going to manage 2 impish dogs and her new baby - and it's all sounds crazy no matter what! to me.

The elements in play:

2 cocker spaniels who pull on leash
Baby
Baby Stroller
Baby Diaper bag
Poop bags
City streets
Flight of stairs

How can a woman manage all the above and still take her dogs for a walk (and be able to pick up poop) - with baby in tow?

Any possible solutions will be greatly appreciated.

She's on her own and has to climb up a flight of steps to get to the lift to exit the building. The dogs HAVE to be on leash. And yes, the bby should ideally be able to go along.

:o I have no idea how she will manage. Perhaps someone else can help. When my niece was a baby I used to take the dog for a walk with her but she was a 6 year old very well behaved dog and there were no stairs involved in getting out of the house. I can't imagine how she will handle it alone.

how bout start with the premiere easy walk harness for the dogs. the next thing i would get is a coupler so that she only has to carry one leash for two dogs. the flight of stairs will be a trick -- you can train dogs to wait at the bottom while she wrestles the stroller up then call dogs when she is set (she should start this training now with stroller) -- that way no one trips over anyone/thing else. then they should be set for walk. if dog poos she can park stroller, stand firmly on leash and scoop. if baby poos i say double time it home :)

I like Kiwi's suggestion of the front carrying pack for the baby.
She shouldn't need a diaper bag to go for a walk....just make sure the baby is changed and fed before they go.
Make sure she wears something with pockets or a fanny pack to carry her house keys, poo bags etc....
If she has to take the stroller, I'd say take the stroller down the stairs empty first then bring the baby and dogs down 2nd.
The coupler R2 mentioned would come in handy with this scenario.
Good luck to her !!!

Thanks guys. :D She's going to go with a baby sling - and the stroller. :o She'll have a fanny pack - that'll contain all the anti-bacteria wipes and extra diapers she'll need.

It still sounds insane to me - but this is a really capable, strong and all in all amazing woman, so I have no doubt that she'll get through it.

I am all the more sure now that I do NOT want human kids! Big salute to all you human AND doggy moms though. ;)
