I have a 8 month old great pyrenees puppy, and she is not growing as fast as she should. I need to know what is the best for a very big breed puppy growing? I want her to be as big as she can get. Can anyone help??

Well I talk to a specialist and she said to have a diet food with a good source of protein. But I don't know if there is a special dog food or something that should go with the dog food.

Ok, so let nature takes it course, possibly dog food for biger dog, and a good source of protein, So then my last question is what is the best source of protein?

Well depends on your dog in part. Some dogs are sensitve to some protien sources but if that isn't a problem - chicken, turkey, lamb and beef are all fine. My personal first picks for dog foods are:
home prepared if you have the time and do your research well
Innove or Innova's Evo
Canidae
Wellness
Chicken Soup (for dogs - its a real dog food brand)
Wysong
Solid Gold
There are some good threads on here about foods, browse about, there are LOTS of opinions but good info too.
And I agree on the time thing - puppies growing too fast is a problem - joint and muscular/skeletal problems.

I talked to a county extension anjent and told me that she should be full size in 8 months. I belive she dosen't know what she is talking about. Henrietta has been growing well forthe passed 8 mounts, but has slowed down and is about 1/2 and 2/3 of her full size.

On food I some people belive raw meet, chicken, and eggs with the shells along with dog food. Has anyone else done this and have good results?

how did i miss this thread???
zbc, it is great to see another pyr owner!
Sasha is a little over 2 and just recently stopped growing, you have a ways to go. Grow 'em slow. She should be on a high-quality adult food about now.
Good luck! If there is anything i can help you with, one thing I know is the Pyr! Please feel free to pm me or post in the Breeds section. :D

Also, "as big as she can get" is a relative term for the Pyr. Bitches should fall into a range of 85-115 pounds and 25-29 inches at the shoulder. This is not a heavy-boned, massive dog.
