BuddysMom Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Well they don't come around very often so I have signed up for both the CGC and Therapy Dog evaluations A Week From Sunday for Buddy, 8/7. We need to practice! He is quite good at heel and stay. He is OK (usually good) at sit and down. We are good with turns, and he is a complete gentleman with other people and dogs. I know for Therapy Dog we should practice around crutches / wheelchair so I will work on that. Of course they are two separate tests, and I feel more confident about the CGC than Therapy Dog at this point ... If he just earned CGC I would be soooooo proud. Any advice would be very much appreciated! Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I dont think I can be of much help but, make sure Buddy stays calm around loud noises and suprizing people. Quote

BuddysMom Posted August 3, 2005 Author Posted August 3, 2005 Good advice on practicing. I am making the practice sessions too long! One thing on the weekdays I have to combine practice with walkies so what I sould probably do is take that the 40 minute walks and break them into 2 work sessions and 2 play sessions. One thing he is doing that makes me so proud ... we have an enclosed football field and when no one's around I let him loose sometimes. Well I just took a chance and gave him the "down" command at about 30 feet away and he did it! Now we have done this severl times. Thanks again DO and everyone! I'll let you know how it goes on Sunday. Quote
