christina_0420 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Hi my boyfriend just bought me a pit bull puppy. I am feeding it Puppy Chow , but the people that he got it from were giving it science diet. We got her yesterday and she has had diererra the whole time. She goes like every 3 hours. I am starting to get worried. I dont know if it is from switching the food or if she is sick. Plus she has a rash on her. The guy said that he took her to the vet and its just a rash, and that she had her puppy shots. Quote
CincoandDahlilasgirl Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Welcome to the forum  Take her to your vet. Quote
ESSlover Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I'd take her back to your vet and see what he/she thinks. Quote
BuddysMom Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 Agreed, take her to your vet. It's sad but there are zillions of awful breeders out there who are just doing it for the money and don't care about the pups. Chances are unfortunately, your puppy is from such a BYB (backyard breeder) and if so, you will have to take special measures to make sure it has the best chance for a healthy life. I don't mean to be presumptuous, just going by the odds. Also I think Puppy Chow is lesser quality than Science Diet ... and many of us here wouldn't feed that either (but we are not snobs really!) Point is that yes, it could be the food change. There's lots of good advice in the Care section of this forum too. Welcome! Quote
imported_Irena Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 welcome to dogo now its how people alredy said its best to take her to the vet. the diererra probably because the instant change in her food, when you want to change your dogs food you do it slowly. thats can be one on the explanation why. usually when a dog having a diererra we stop feeding it for 24 hours and then feed it with stewed rise and chiken without any spices. anyway before everything take him to the vet, it could be somthing more serious and waiting to long can be risky.
