StarFox Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I guess I'm now the family vet. :-? My mom came home yesturday from my Uncles and told me that his dog Eddie, was hurt. I can only assume that he was stung by something in the neck and it got infected. There is a wound about the size of my thumb. My uncle refuses to take him to the vet so I had to do the best I could to fix him up. I trimmed the hair where the wound is, cleaned it out with peroxide and put neosprorin on it. Thankfully I had some left over antibiotics (amoxiscilin (SP?) from when Zebra had an infection. So I gave Eddie one tonight and told my uncle to give him the pills twice a day. Uhh I HATE how my uncle treats his dog, the poor thing is out on a chain 24/7 and obviously he dosn't care about him enough to take him to a vet. I was so pissed that I told him that if it wasn't better by the weekend that I would pay for the damn vet trip myself. :x I hate family. Quote
imported_Kat Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Thankfully you were able to fix the dog up  I know what you mean. I worked at a veterinary practice for 11 and a half years as a veterinary assistant and people used to call me and ask me to get medications for their animals because they didnt want to spend money at the vets..yeah right like i of course have a big stock supply of vet drugs in my house  Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 You did good! I do know how you feel about being the local vet for people who don't want to spend money. I cured that when my mom's neighbor used to get me over there to look at her multitude of cats. I started charging her, $5 to administer medication and it went up from there. Quote
courtnek Posted July 6, 2005 Posted July 6, 2005 this is Eisnteins SECOND theory or Relativity....time takes longer when you spend it with relatives.... hope that cheered you up some. idiot relatives are a fact of life. you can choose your friends, but not your relatives... 8) Quote
