JackieMaya Posted June 10, 2005 Author Posted June 10, 2005 thornbirdskkk napisaĆ(a):Jackie..hit 3 times and still around to talk about it? Are you sure your not a cat!! Wow, amazing and so scary. Did you feel your hair stand on end like they say happens before your are struck? My yellow lab hates the rain thunder and lightning, will have no part of it, the chocolate lab loves the rain and is not bothered in the least by thunder or lightning. Okay, okay, so my body wasn't hit by lightning, but: 1st time I was in my sister's porch when it got hit by lightning, and it started on fire and welded her metal chairs to her metal cabinets. 2nd time I was in my horse trailer and had just loaded up the second horse when the horse trailer got hit by lightning. I screamed bloody murder, but the horses didn't make a sound (they were on rubber mats). The girls who were putting the ramp up said they saw a blue arc at the top of the trailer that went down to the ramp. One of the girls let go of the ramp and the other one didn't. The one who didn't let go didn't have any feeling in her arms for a day! That was on the Fourth of July, and I had been bucked off in the ring earlier! LOL 3rd time I had just gotten in the elevator at work when the building got hit by lightning and all the power went out. I was stuck in the elevator for 3 hours! So stay away from me when there's lightning! Quote
courtnek Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 true lightning story... when I was about 9, my mom took all 3 kids to a resort in WI, at the time called "The Abbey"...they had these beautiful suites with ceiling to floor sliding glass doors that took up one whole wall, with drapes fromceiling to floor. so mom is running me a bath, and a thundestorm starts up. Now I love thunderstorms, I can watch them for hours. So I am standing in the living room type area in front of the sliding glass doors when mom comes out of the bathroom. sees me standing there. grabs my arm and yells"dont EVER stand in a window in a thunderstorm!" and yanks me away. at that PRECISE instant, a lightning bolt came THROUGH the window and hit the floor where I had been standing...actually smoked the carpet. burn mark. she hauled the drapes shut, drained the tub and told me to go to bed. She never mentioned it again. scroll forward 33 years. my mom is in her room, terminal from colon cance, and mostly just sleeping. one day while I was there, she woke up, looked me straight in the eye (something she had not done for weeks)and said "remember what I told you. NEVER stand in a window during a thunderstorm"...she died two days later, without ever recovering conciousness. is that weird, or what? :o Quote
