xavierandrea Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 I am so sad........ Oh my..... When I got the news about my lay off I didn't cry but I'm soooooo upset over this............. Quote
thornbirdskkk Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I agree, something will be done before this ever gets to MA, Free, Patti and Asim have nothing to worry about....If needed we can pass Asim off as large gerbil, after all he drinks from a water bottle!! Don't worry!! It will never happen!! Quote
xavierandrea Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 Is this letter stupid?????? I just don't know where to begin????I thought I should throw some Portuguese at him in the end maybe to get brownie points  :-? ??? Dear Mr.. Pacheco, I have just recently heard on the news that Massachusetts is taking a look at the long overdue dog laws. Mr. Pacheco I own 3 Rottweilers. I also have 2 children. I have a 11 year old son named Xavier and a 8 month old son named Daequan. As a child I also grew up with dogs. My family had a Golden Retriever, Doberman Pincher and a Beagle. I do not see my dogs as a threat to my children. Believe me if I did I would not have this dogs in my home with my children. I am writing this letter to you with tears rolling down my face. My dogs names and ages are as follows Patti she is 6 years old, Free she is 4 years old and my Asim he will be 3 in October. I have not yet told Xavier my son that the Commonwealth is looking at changing the law regarding our precious babies! My Xavier sleeps in the same bed with these fur cover creatures of GOD. I understand that there has recently been a trend in Massachusetts that has resulted you and your colleages to review the current laws that are in place and some revisions are needed but please I begging you please treat each case individually. Please for the mercy of us good owners, the mercy of the good dogs please don't ban every dog because a few certain were bad. My son Xavier was named after Saint Francis Xavier of Assisi. I am Roman Catholic. My parents came over from Saint Michael, Azores in the late 1960s? I honestly can't remember at this time.If it is one thing that my mother and father taught me it is to protect my children until I die. So with that in mind do you think if my dogs were vicious I would have them in the same house with my children? Do you think I would allow them so play with my children? Do you think I would allow Xavier to share a bed with them? No. Do you think my mother would let me? Believe me she still has a say in my life even though I am 28 years old my mother will always have a say in my life. ( It must be a Portuguese thing.) My dear father passed away in 1997 at the age of 45 of lymphoma. I know that if he was alive today he too would be writing a letter to support me. I will attach pictures of my dogs and also my children for you to see for yourself how friendly, loveable, loyal, compassionate, kissable I could go on and on you see my point. I love my dogs. I know that between 1982-1988 you were the Mayor of Taunton, the City of which I was born, raised and still resided in. I know that you yourself are of Portuguese decent. I know that you still have very active roll in the Portuguese community and in the city of Taunton. I have seen many things change not only in this great State but also in this great city and also in the Portuguese community. I continue to show and teach both my children the Portuguese culture and Xavier completely understands the language which nowadays our children lack their heritage. One thing that I do not what to change is my right to own my DOGS. My parents came to America for freedom for their rights and now I might not be able to have my CAOS??? Por favor? Por alma dos meus filhos? Please again keep into consideration not to ban "Vicious" dogs which include, Rottweilers, Pitbulls ect. Each incident needs to be look at individually and not as a whole. I apologize in advance if I sound repeatitive but I am very upset right now and I am literally typing through tears........... Thank you for you time in reading my letter. Quote
Crystal Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Wow. I'm in tears too. Very personal letter. I think it is very good and it sounds from a real person with real concerns and love for her animals. Quote
thornbirdskkk Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Before you send the letter there are a few typos, see me and I'll show you, other than that go for it.. if he has any compassion at all it will make him look at all sides of the issue and keep and open mind. Good job!! Quote
xavierandrea Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 Thanks. He's the Senator. So let me change that now...... Quote
JackieMaya Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Even the thought of BSL being passed has to be very frightening for you. That's a very good, from-the-heart letter, and I'm sure it will have a tremendous impact on the Senator. Good luck! Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 I'm sorry you have to go through this, trust me I know what its like. I bawled like a baby as well when the ban passed here, for all the innocent dogs that will be murdered. :( Quote
ESSlover Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Wow.. this is the first time a post has ever brought tears to my eyes.. I'm so worried for you and your babies (2 and 4 footed  ).
