Why is it so hard to adopt a pit bull? why?! I don't get it. Some are adopted right away because they look "cute" while the temperament is questionable while other pits have great temperaments but get overlooked because they are older or look "mean". This is just so darn frustrating! This is why I'm frustrated:

Mike, a 4 year old pit/X that has been at the shelter for 2 and a half months. No one wants this dog, not even the rescues because he is an "agressive" breed. Ok it's true he dosn't like other large male dogs but he does fine with smaller dogs or female dogs.

Or how about Bart?

He has been at the shelter for almost 2 months. Why? he is young, active, friendly, non-dog agressive, loves kids.

Or how about this girl?

Super friendly, quiet, loves to be pet and can even stack like a show dog! But I guess it's her "mean" face that turns people off.

No one wants these great dogs because "Oh that's a pit bull!". Maybe I should just start spray painting the pits golden and say "Oh it's a rare short hair golden retreiver"...maybe then they will get adopted. Sorry I just really had to complain about this because it's just so frustrating sometimes.

Well, in a perfect world it would be because they are a demanding breed that requires a certain type of owner who is educated and prepared. If only people who met those standards were allowed to have pits (and if no pits could be bred if they weren't going to one of these people) than pits wouldn't have the rep they do. But its not a perfect world.

I'm with K! I'd take all three if I could. I don't have large males and my girls are all angels. OF course Prissy would be seriously put out that she would no longer be the only Pitty baby in the house.

I know what you are feeling though. I want to scream since the shelter here doesn't even give them a chance to get out.

As I'm typing this the news is talking about a fighting ring bust where 100 Pits were taken into custody.

Stupid owners make it hard for these sweet babies get homes.

alot of it has to do with pictures...see if the shelter can get better pics of them....like maybe out in the grass all happy and stuff...people will be more interested in a dog if the pictures show a happy dog :D
