Willow (Willy Monster) is a two year old Maltese. He is always the center of every show. Such a little dog with such a big personality. Every time someone comes home, Willy freaks out. He yelps and howls and flings himself around. I think It's so cute. The neighbors have mentioned surgery on his vocal cords.

Should I make him stop for the neighbors' sake? Keep in mind that their cat kills all our birds  . What should I do?

maybe mention to them that they could have their eardrums removed :evilbat: sorry i couldn't help it.

other than when people come over does your dog bark incessantly? does he bark into the wee hours of the night?

well you can try to correct the problem before doing anythign that drastic.. you can use the NO command, umm. use bitter apple if they bark ( that's what they did in my puppy class one time for a yappy pom ) there is pennies in a can and you shake it when they bark, you can try the citronella collars that will spray when he barks, use a squirt bottle ...... just a few ideas

I have tried several things with Willy. He is just very vocal when his friends come home. I will tell the nieghbors that I won't do it. Then I'll tell them that I if I see that cat in my yard again, it's either going to be taking a ride to the pound or getting in the bum with the rubber band gun  .

you do need to do something about your dog...his barking isnt going to be so cute when you end up like the people who were taken to court and ORDERED to have their dogs vocal cords removed or get rid of them.

you dont need to be hitting the cat with anything nor do you need to take him to the pound..simply shoo him out of your yard

I wouldn't find a maltese's yapping to be cute, but I guess it takes all kinds.

I do agree with whoever said if it's just when someone comes home they can stuff it, but if it's all the time you haev a problem.

A water squirt bottle works great for shooing C@ts.
